PRAISE THE lord my grandma Sarah MOSS R.I.P.sanctified woman may she stay in my heart shes always in my heart.I were about 6 and up.IM 37 NOW GRANDMA ALWAYS played this song.Thank you JESUS.
My momma use to sing this song when she was little and went to a country and she said there choir used to kill this sing. And every time this song come the radio she tell use that story. #truegospel so happy i finally found this song.
Part 2Lead: (in parenthesis) (You better come on in this house), (it's gonna rain), it's gonna rain. (Rain down fire), (it's gonna rain), come on in this house. (Come on in this house), (it's gonna rain), it's gonna rain. (Rain down fire), (it's gonna rain), come on in this house.Bridge: (Door is standing open) Door stands wide open just call His name, don't wait too late because it's gonna rain. Vamp: Come on follow me, it's gonna rain.
I had this cassette when it came out in the 80s, I've followed the Tommies ever since, no other choir or soloists that can do what they did to music. The Pentecostal movement (UPC) used alot of thier songs back in the 80's and so glad they did, the songs had the holy ghost in them.
I LOVE THIS SONG!! MY FAVORITE!!! A CHOIR HAS TO SING THIS AT MY FUNERAL!!CHOIRS DONT SING LIKE THIS ANYMORE!! I LOVE THIS SONG!! CLASSIC! I LOVE HER VOICE!
Man, this song was always playing in my house on Sunday Morning! My mom had a cassette tape with this song and would blast this song!! Praise God for gifted vessels like Mrs.Powell-Harrington who allowed the spirit to minister through her to millions!!1 May she know her work is not in vain!!! Thank you for posting this!!
My little sister was soprano, I was soprano 2, my mother and older sister were alto, and my dad.... well he just tried and I would take the lowest part :D
MYYY GOD!!! YOU HAVE no idea how much this song means to me. this is when I first started singing in the choir. I was 7 years olds. Of course, I think I song the soprano part LOL... but this song set the pace for the many years I was musically involved...Bless you
Thanks you!!!! I'd been looking for this forever! I played bass on the USS Kittyhawk '04 to '07, wanted to cover this with the Gospel band onboard, but didn't know the name or the piano parts...before everyone had IPods and such...oh well. But, great record!
@Mjpawmi I wasn't even born when this song came out!! My late aunt was young when she led this song for our choir...when i got old enough to know about it, I can agree..somebody didn't like the way REAL gospel music is supposed to be sung and now that's why we have songs that circulate just as long as R&B songs...2 months then looking for the next hit. Songs like this, "You Brought the Sunshine" & "Peace Be Still" are STILL bumping live with the Holyghost!!
@Mjpawmi I don't want to sound like an old person, but secular "worldly" music infiltered the church. Trying to appeal to a younger audience and stay current. Back in the day, gospel had a sound and secular music had a sound. If anything gospel music influenced secular music. Now it's the other way around.
@Mjpawmi no one went wrong..times are changing and people have to get the message across the best way they know how to..some people are simply not attracted to this kind of music..it's not their fault, they just like what they like..and as long as they're getting the message, that's all that matters
I was 7 when this came out. My parents used to pump this album all the time along with a bunch of others. I never knew Marvin Winans wrote this. This is a straight classic
WHAT A CLASSIC I REMEMBER MY CHOIR SINGING THIS I WAS TWO YEARS OLD WHEN THIS CAME OUT OMG . . LOL . . I LEARNED HOW TO PLAY IT EVENTUALLY IN THE 90'S AND THEN TAUGHT IT TO MY YOUTH CHOIR
My children were babies when I sang this song with a choir in San Bernardino, CA. A 16-yr-old sang this song EXACTLY like Delores Powell. I am STILL blessed by the ministry of her voice. Kind of interesting thinking about listening to her singing -- from the inside out! :) God bless you @JayFyv and loves to your mommy
Wow this song brings back so many memories of when we used to listen to(De) Loris singing and playing her piano in the back room in the house on Lockwood while Nicky, Reggie, Liz , and I used to play upstairs! Before she even cut this song I knew her voice belong on radio!!! You better sing auntie!!!
Oh praise God! Finally some REAL GOSPEL again. I remember this when I was a kid, and my church learned it for Choir Day. I was playing drums, and I felt like I was having an OBE because the Holy Spirit was so strong. Notice the energy, the anointing, and how the lead vocalist's voice is an instrument. She's not just singing "runs" for the sake of self-absorbed vocal acrobatics. The choir is singing with PASSION. I miss this so much, I could cry!!!!
Can't you see the cloud gathering Don't let it be said too late There's a brand new feeling in the air Better run to the ark, before the rain starts You better come on in this house it's gonna rain It's gonna rain. (repeat) Doors have been Opened wide open Just call his name Don't wait too late because It's Gonna rain Come on follow me, It's gonna rain (repeat) Doors have been Opened wide open Just call his name Don't wait too late because It's Gonna rain
@ minjalewissr... Thank you, so much for adding her name to your post. I will pass your message on to my mom. Oh... be on the look out. We are working on a new project now for release next year. Thanks, again!
My mom is Delores Powell-Harrington, the original lead singer (and the woman sitting In the center of the choir on the album cover) of the recording done in 1982.
If you live in the Chicago area and would like to hear her in person, she will be singing and delivering the Mothers Day message this Sunday at the New Rose of Sharon Church in Dixmoor, Il, where she is now the 1st Lady.
Thank you all for your comments. My mom reads them all the time. God Bless!
@missninanicole12 Thank you for providing information on the soloist. Please tell your mom that she is greatly appreaciated by all who hear this song. I've often said she sounds very similar to my mom. Be blessed and know it!
@mike2004000444 I do have a pic of my mom, but she's not the lady singing this song. My mom's voice sounds a lot like Lady Delores Powell-Harrington. According to missninanicole12, Lady Harrington is in the center of the photo from the album cover.
@missninanicole12 Tell your mom THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cant hear this song without thinking back to my young days, sitting on the floor in the living room with this record playing. My wife just bought me a new record player becuase I found this alblum on Ebay and it's been killing me to play it! What a treat. Thanks for the connection. What an anointed voice! WOW!!!!
OMG my mom used to make me and my cousins sing this song when we were like aged 3-5 yrs old, we all had a part and she was the director--to this day we all remember what part we had. I love this song
@lil08shaheen There was another version. It's been posted on youtube as The Tommies "It's Gonna Rain" but the sound has been removed because of copyright issues. The choir was singing it live at an awards show. If you're really looking for it, you might be able to find it on Amazon or itunes as Fire Next Time.
I don't know about all that all i know is, my Pastor has told us the story too many times about him writing this song, now when the Winans first signed to Andrae Crouch's label i know Bishop told us that they had control over the music soo maybe thats why Andrae got the credit, but my Pastor wrote it!
LOL, well i have the album right here but i can't show you! LOL, but also he's my Pastor, and he's told the story over and over about when he first wrote this song and how he taught to his church choir @ Shalom Temple (the church where he was before he Pastored)
The credits on the album cover say Marvin Winans. I just double checked the credits on the album itself and it says Andre Crouch. It appears the back of the album cover where most copyright info was printed is wrong and has been since 1982.
Andrae` Crouch wrote another song titled "It's Gonna Rain" copyright 1981 Bud Johnson Songs/Crouch Music/ASCAP/admin. by EMI-CMP. It's from the Light Records release More of the Best (1981).
I think it would be rather ironic if he wrote two songs with the same title but much different lyrics.
Hi everyone. I think this song holds a little bit more of a special place in my heart and life than you all could imagine. 27 years ago I was in the belly of the lead vocalist, Delores Powell as she was recording and touring. My mom is still a powerhouse in ministry to this day, and as we all know the song is still in regular rotation, even tho she got zero credit. She will always and forever be my hero, musically an in life. FYI...she was very grown even though she sounds 13. -Jason
@JayFyv your mom sounds a little like my mom on this song. Though my mom has never sang this song, her voice is similar to your mom's when she says, "You better come on in this house, it's gonna rain."
I LOVE this song!!! It brings back so many memories. It's so inspirational. I absolutely can NOT have r&b and rap in my collection w/o gospel as head of my life and the strength of my salvation-LAUGH!. After all, just like rock n roll in it's prime-gospel paved the way!!! :)
It was recorded from the album onto a tape and then transfered to my laptop. Please see my comments on He'll Make It Alright and There Is No Way. Thanks for listening anyway. Be blessed and know it!
Now, you talkin bout havin sum chuch! I remember at the Greater Lincoln Park Church of Christ in San Antonio, Texas - The Radio & Television Broadcast Choir did this song and wore the Alamo City Out! People from miles around took out to get to the church to see what was really going on! Elder William A. Ellis at that time held service way into the early morning hours! A Cloud descended in the choir and many lives were reclaimed and healed and many more were Saved!
i am only 21, but our youth choir in vicksburg, ms. use to sing this every 4th sunday. Also, I think I;ve played at HOPEWELL MB CHURCH.. i was returning from tour and my boi Nathaniel EdWARds asked me to do him a favor..lol Marvin wrote this?
I was like 7 or 8 years old going to Hopewell Missionary baptist Church. This was my favorite song. After my mother made me put on one tennis shoe and one church shoe because i would hide my shoes thinkin she might say stay home. NOT SO... AND I WAS GLAD TO HAVE A MOTHER AND NOT A FREIND.!!!!
All of these years and I never EVER knew my man Marvin Winans wrote this!!!! Now I love him even more. (Not really my man, just love his spirit) Go head Pastor!
i still got this record and his other ones as well i was born that year. someone need to remake that song a choir i would say let karen or dorinda sing the lead part
This was the first album I bought by Rev. Brunson and the Tommies. I still have it. I'm going to have to dust it off. Thank you so much for posting this gem.
