@mackjeez Well the issue is about the symbolism. What does a Scimitar, a turban and belly dancers mean? If it was just showing another culture, then fine. However, in these movies it has a particular symbol, generally negative.

The portrayal of the terrorist in True Lies is a terrorist not a representative of a whole ethnicity, Arab terrorists and martyrs are real and a nuisance to everybody including Arabs, Arnolds partner in the movie is also an Arab. I agree but you don't need to shout, I'm not a Westerner nor am I American. By colonization do you mean Iraq or Afghanistan? If yes that's not colonization, more like occupation. Excellent comment! This is true everywhere. It sickens me to admit that this crude sheeple mentality affects the majority of my own family members (NOT my immediate family - thank God!). My two cents. A fair number of things they use are things that I remember being reported on the news in the 70's and 80's but since Hollywood tends to use "Arabland" ie made up name or not say where it is. All these things blur together like they happen in all Arab countries. Not fair but I suspect more lazyness than any organized plan. I see the same sort of thing happen in universities this is called poor research. No master plan in it.
