  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAN..

    DEC.9,1941

  • had serious hots for maryann

  • This is fantastic!!!!!!!!!! Thank you.

  • I saw them perform this on The Tonight Show around this same time but I never saw this clip before. Thanks!

  • Definitely the Hot Licks classic line up!

  • Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks were such a hot group but too often overlooked! His earliest LP's are classics. Many pop stars used him as a mentor. No group mixed styles with true validiity as they did!

  • Dan Hicks (born December 9, 1941, in Little Rock, Arkansas

  • Nobody does it like Dan Hicks, his Hot Licks and the delectable Lickettes

  • Deliberate kitsch from 1972!

Just think, music was plummeting down into ponderous poo poo. Dan had other ideas, however...

The guitarist in the white suit has some mondo post-modern moves too. lol

  • As an old Doug Sahm drummer, I'd finally like

to somehow see Dan sing with Boz Scaggs.

    -Cowboylips

  • Beautiful!

  • He kicks Jimmy Buffet's ass!!! At least Dan didn't commercialize himself! Rather be a hickhead than a parrothead!!

  • I remember this as a kid in the 70's

  • Hey Sid!! Great solo!!! drf

  • Dan and the Hot Licks, as the original band, put on a real show for people. Dan is still one of the funniest people. He writes really fun music. I miss Maryann and Naomi. They were so kitschy. I always wanted to be a Lickette.

  • How many drugs were they on? And I mean that in the most affectionate way.

  • Dan sounds like he was influenced by the Black Jazz from WW-II era France. It is a style that I hope is never lost. It is just pure fun and thank God someone is smart enough to keep playing it. Good music is just good and timeless. Thanks Dan

  • I had the opportunity to see Dan with the Acoustic Warriors in Tampa in 1988. My oldest brother was a fan, so of course so was I. That was when I was 12 or 13. I remember seeing him on the Tonight Show promoting the album Where's The Money." He was great then as he is now.

  • So much talent in one band - just silly!

  • Just WOW! This is probably the best clip of ANY entertainer ever on network TV!

How knew Dan could dance! He's about 6'4" but man can he move!

    LOL!

  • @tacomadc I love how fans of certain people deal in nothing but absolute superlatives.

  • Hehe rather funny but sweet.

  • I never realized but he runs a tight ship. At 3:02 he shoots the girl on the right a scary look when she comes in early.

  • GREAT BAND

  • Just under one third of all my philosophy for life comes from Dan Hicks lyrics.

  • LOL oldsport. I hear that ;-)

  • Maybe it's just me,but-

Can y'all listen to Dan Hicks without smiling??

  • Absolutely wonderful! Dan Hicks at his best.

  • Great footage!! Do you have anything where they're performing " Waiting For the 1:03"? They are wonderful-thank you!

  • This little band can always put a smile on your face and a tap in your foot. I needed that today.

  • They are musically talented and whimsical -- so fun to watch. I'm tickled.

Where's Mary Anne Price today? She sang "I'm an Old Cowhand" better than anyone ever.

  • He is still great...didn't know that he danced in the day.....

  • Now that's a band!

  • Great.

  • Oh Popeye!

  • Classic Hicks, his concerts were theater, comedy, and great music all in one.
