@friendmeph I never said that. I originally said I would like to see his race pace turns. This is obviously slow, as I can do faster walls than this and I'm only decent.
From 0:20 to 0:22, it's the real unedited speed, it's less than 1 second in doing that turn and it's fast. The rest of the video, seems to be in slow motion.
@willski1221 You realize that it takes him less than a second to flip and push off...If you're turns are faster than that and you can't make nationals you need to work on your actual stroke technique
You're supposed to do what works best for you. Most people find it faster to flip directly onto their backs, but then they have to turn over, which slows you down. Ian and other Australians flip onto their sides, which takes longer, but they push off on their sides and only have to turn slightly, which is faster. Both work fine, and it really depends on you. I like to flip onto my back with my feet staggered so when I push off I automatically twist over.
Why is he not looking down? that really anoys me

he's flipping and turning at the same time. as in, flipping to his stomach and turning (flip turning) at the same time

Seems to me that he's spending too much time on the wall. It almost looks like he is looking down to check that he is on teh wall before pushing off.
I'd like to see what his racing turn looked like, I bet it would be faster than this with no pause.

um it was in slow motion. when he does it normally..you can't go faster off than that

I realize that it's slow motion at around 0:26.
I'm talking about at 0:21. He is slow off the wall, it's not race pace. My turns are way faster than that and I can't even make national cuts.

you know what, you're right. ian thorpe is slo off the wall in practice, he probably couldn't medal in the olympics.
wait...

Try Amazon. This one is called Beneath the suit. I'm sure Thorpe has an official website. Try there also.
