Holy christ that is gnarly. I can't believe how busted out the guardrail anchors were from the cement. Tearing up the open road is a great way to raise some pulses, but also a great way to get a toe tag. Glad to see you made it. I like the Suzuki stickers on your crutches.

ok man. sorry my reaction but i hate people in t-shirt and no leather on superbikes... but next time go to a race track... you just have track and if you fall you'll find just grass and sand... open road is too dangerous and with gard rail even worst... i ride a GSXR600 K6 every day to work and fast only on a track. try it on a trackday or something. you will like it =) Good luck!

My friend dumped his ninja 1200 and broke both his legs and is now getting around good and is riding the same bike now (his accident was less than a year ago). I´m not fully recovered yet. next week the doctor will make another checkup. And there we will see if everything is ok. But if the broken bones didn´t adnate correctly, i will have another surgery again. i´ll write a new comment next week when i know what´s going on.

the accident happened in south tirol. but the surgery was in innsbruck (tirol). it´s one of the world´s top hospitals. they really did an excellent job. that´s true. whish you a lot nice trips with your beautiful repsol blade

Well done making that film. I hope it reminds some people what you risk every time you go out on your bike. I broke my neck in a bike accident back in November 2000. Fortunately it was what they call a stable fracture, and I suffered no paralysis. I had that accident at about 11mph (car pulled u-turn in front of me.)

I had a 70mph crash on the motorway here in the UK, had all my leathers on despite it being a hot day as a result I only suffered a badly grazed knee and some minor bruising. my Kawasaki ZX6 came off worse than me.. My fella and me were knocked off hs gixer 1100 five years ago in a hit and run broken legs torn ligaments the works. Last year some twat in a car nearly killed him again, he was in intensive care for over a week, nearly lost his left arm broke his leg, pelvis on both sides, arm, all his ribs on the right, punctured his lung and had to have his ruptured spleen removed. What I'm trying to say is we feel your pain and love to you all who've been there! Bikers forever, car drivers suck.

holy shit i feel lucky about my stack now i crashed my rm 125 on dirt gowen 70ks and only got a broken coller bone but put a huge crack in my helmet that would have been the side of my head....a 10$ helmet is for a 10$ head

i had a crash wehn i raced in the motogp 250cc class but now im in the 990cc class. i had a crash in the 250cc class, it wasnt pretty, i crashes at 165 mph in philipe island. but the next day i wuz back on my bike racing hard. if u wanna b a gud rider, u better start playin around wit a pocket bike b4 u get one of the big boy bikes.
Im also biker and I also had very nasty fall. My left leg is similiar to yours except my bone was crushed and leg was almost off the body. My right leg has been "only" broken, I had injured spleen and I was drivinh wheelchairs for 6 months and I learned how to drive hem od back 2 wheels:-).
i've done you similar accident with my R6, the guard rail broke my femor ,tibia and peron like yours.
I wase more lucky because i hadn't muscle and skin problebs, but i had a kind of letal embolism (the same of Petterson after F1 monza GP '79) but after 4 days of coma i woke up !!

what happened: i was driving through this left corner, at the end of the corner, i´ve lost grip on the front and back tyre. so i started sliding into the rail guard. i was about 120 KM/H (75 MPH) fast when i hit the rail guard. The curios thing is, that i didn´t hurt anything else except my left knee
after i got back from hospital, i sold my bike. i was very long thinking if i should ever ride again a bike. but now i´m driving a GSX-R 750. but with much more respect of course

I broke my tibia, fibual 2 times, dislocated my ankle, on the top of the tibia i also broke a little bone out of it and i got cut off my cruciate ligament. i got 4 surgeries. i hope that everything will heal perfectly
shit, the reality of crashing is quickly reminded when watching a video like that. I will think of that leg everytime i drop a gear and roll my wrist around.

Naja, dieses "Netz" ist die neue Haut. Diese haben sie vom Oberschenkel runtergenommen (sieht man wo ich die kleine GSX-R halte). Diese Haut haben sie dann mit einer Maschiene gelöchert, sodass sie diese noch mehr dehnen konnten. Dann haben sie diese Haut über das "Loch" gelegt und angetackert...
Ich werde dieses Jahr a neues Video machen, da sieht man dann wie es inzwischen aussieht. Ist schon um einiges schöner geworden, aber die Karriere als Fuß-Model ist definitiv gelaufen ;-)
Ja, hatte ne Kombi, Stiefel, Handschuhe und alles drum und dran an gehabt. Fahre auch nie ohne gscheiter Ausrüstung. Ohne dieser wäre es wohl noch schlimmer gekommen.

That gray thing is the skin which they took off from the left femoral. They doctors had to do this cause the skin on the lower leg was 'dead'.
Now it looks a lot more nice but still you can see it of course very good that this isn´t the original skin

i crashed on my 50cc scooter and hurt myself not bad but it shook me up a bit. that l teach me to go 50mph down through dodgey bak lanes :P hope u get better tom that looks really bad :/

Good on ya mate making and posting this video diary of your accident. I had a 70mph crash on the motorway here in the UK, had all my leathers on despite it being a hot day as a result I only suffered a badly grazed knee and some minor bruising. my Kawasaki ZX6 came off worse than me.. I see these idiots riding in shorts and Tshirts, maybe they should watch this video and think again. good luck with your recovery dude and get back on a bike asap... bikes rule!!!!

my mum has huge scarring from a car accident, look likes she survived a shark attack. Tom's leg is quite pretty compared.. both very lucky people.. glad your here to tell your story.
This flick kinda pisses on all those people who ride an R6 with shorts and t-shirts... your skin will not protect you over 3miles per hour... why push ur luck?

yeah, i also say that you should wear anytime you ride a bike a good helmet and leather! i never drive with t-shirt or shorts.

read again lol.... it was a horrible car crash not a shark attack.. it just looks like a shark has had her for lunch... i have a bug on my screen =[
only place i ride without my nylons is college only 3 mile and i can't go over 45 on my bike =p its a 50cc
if someone hits that fence again they may not stay this side of it... that should be fixed

My fella and me were knocked off hs gixer 1100 five years ago in a hit and run broken legs torn ligaments the works. Last year some twat in a car nearly killed him again, he was in intensive care for over a week, nearly lost his left arm broke his leg, pelvis on both sides, arm, all his ribs on the right, punctured his lung and had to have his ruptured spleen removed. What I'm trying to say is we feel your pain and love to you all who've been there! Bikers forever, car drivers suck.

mate i feel ur pain! 2 weeks ago i came off my bike and broke my leg and shatered my knee cap on my left side. i also had some serious gravel rash. i hope u managed to get back on a bike! i sure hope i will soon

Suzuki walking sticks the best, keep them in your bdroom just in case, get your self a big ass 4x4 insted, you got enought scars to impress anybody, keep it safe, braza.

holy shit i feel lucky about my stack now i crashed my rm 125 on dirt gowen 70ks and only got a broken coller bone but put a huge crack in my helmet that would have been the side of my head....a 10$ helmet is for a 10$ head

Ich hoffe dir geht es mittlerweile besser, mir ist sowas auch schon passiert, bei mir war es aber ein Auto was die Vorfahrt nicht beachtete. Das Video ist toll gemacht. Ich fahre trotzdem wieder, aber mit etwas mehr Vorsicht gegenüber unachtsamen Autofahrern. Ich wünsche dir alles Gute auf der Welt.

I was about 100 KM/H in this corner. I´m definetly no aggressive driver. It just happened. I´m no kind of like "Ghostrider" or something similar. I just wanted to show with this video how i love riding motorcycles, but also how fast something can happen.

i had a crash wehn i raced in the motogp 250cc class but now im in the 990cc class. i had a crash in the 250cc class, it wasnt pretty, i crashes at 165 mph in philipe island. but the next day i wuz back on my bike racing hard. if u wanna b a gud rider, u better start playin around wit a pocket bike b4 u get one of the big boy bikes.

Im also biker and I also had very nasty fall. My left leg is similiar to yours except my bone was crushed and leg was almost off the body. My right leg has been "only" broken, I had injured spleen and I was drivinh wheelchairs for 6 months and I learned how to drive hem od back 2 wheels:-).
Im still riding the bike offcourse!:-)

I think i could know what u passed brother.
i've done you similar accident with my R6, the guard rail broke my femor ,tibia and peron like yours.
I wase more lucky because i hadn't muscle and skin problebs, but i had a kind of letal embolism (the same of Petterson after F1 monza GP '79) but after 4 days of coma i woke up !!

i started with a SV-650 for about 6 years ago. then i drove a gsx-r 600 and now a gsx-r 750. i never had a gsx-r 1000. i had the accident with my gsx-r 600, and i was driving for about 4 years when i had the accident. so i was definetly not a beginner

what happened: i was driving through this left corner, at the end of the corner, i´ve lost grip on the front and back tyre. so i started sliding into the rail guard. i was about 120 KM/H (75 MPH) fast when i hit the rail guard. The curios thing is, that i didn´t hurt anything else except my left knee
after i got back from hospital, i sold my bike. i was very long thinking if i should ever ride again a bike. but now i´m driving a GSX-R 750. but with much more respect of course

I broke my tibia, fibual 2 times, dislocated my ankle, on the top of the tibia i also broke a little bone out of it and i got cut off my cruciate ligament. i got 4 surgeries. i hope that everything will heal perfectly

shit, the reality of crashing is quickly reminded when watching a video like that. I will think of that leg everytime i drop a gear and roll my wrist around.
Crashing is the only fear when riding hard and fast.

For sure i drive now a lot more gentle and slower. I never thought that i would have an accident like that, but it happens very quickly.
And yes: The pain was sometimes killing me. But hey, i´m a man, and man don´t cry ;-)

Bloody hell bro, this must have been a bloody nightmare, I remember I fell of my bike by only got my skin ripped off my left leg pretty hard, it heart but comparing to this it was nothing. Why did they put this kind of net in your leg?

This "net" is the skin from my femoral. It just looks like net. Meanwhile it looks a lot more nice.

Naja, dieses "Netz" ist die neue Haut. Diese haben sie vom Oberschenkel runtergenommen (sieht man wo ich die kleine GSX-R halte). Diese Haut haben sie dann mit einer Maschiene gelöchert, sodass sie diese noch mehr dehnen konnten. Dann haben sie diese Haut über das "Loch" gelegt und angetackert...
Ich werde dieses Jahr a neues Video machen, da sieht man dann wie es inzwischen aussieht. Ist schon um einiges schöner geworden, aber die Karriere als Fuß-Model ist definitiv gelaufen ;-)

Ja, hatte ne Kombi, Stiefel, Handschuhe und alles drum und dran an gehabt. Fahre auch nie ohne gscheiter Ausrüstung. Ohne dieser wäre es wohl noch schlimmer gekommen.

Nice clean break of your tibia and fibula. Any idea what your leg hit? By the looks of the fracture and the bruise it was something with a small surface area. OUCH!
Also, the pic at 4:20 with the little motorcycle...is that where they took the skin for the skin graft?
