  • 7:18 Go home and be a family man! j/k good review, sounds like I should try it out for the hell of it.

  • @darkjediMIK I was going to say? Huh? Thanks for watching.

  • @darkjediMIK Ha ha, its my favorite win quote, even if the character isn't Guile so I had to say it when you conceded defeat to the video game.

  • 3:34 - VUH VRENF VUH DUHN FUHGUH DEH AHR MEHNY GOIHS RIHK YU OWH OWVUR DA WUHRLD?

  • @ProManUnitedFan LOL! Exactly! Ha ha. Thanks for watching.

  • @spida1a LOL

  • Capcom will ALWAYS be the BEST at fighting games! Can't wait to see Pacman battle in their new creation!!!!!!!!

  • @BarbieBillionaire Totally! Thanks for watching.

  • 1:34 I see Gen! LOL!

  • Thanks for the review on this was curious about how this title turned out. The fan remake for this turned out pretty nicely though.

  • @Pokepimp30875 Thanks for watching!

  • great vid man

  • @CountVictorVonScary Thanks for watching!

  • Nostalgia for the air powered buttons. I remember how fast those things wore out in the arcade. 2 days after the machine arrived and the buttons were all torn up!

  • @flexor212000 I hear you! I swear they never worked. Ha ha. :)

    Thanks for watching Flexor!

  • man sagat is impossible D:

this game have very bad controls

  • @yeswehadouken Ugh....he's SO hard. Ha ha. :)

    Thanks for watching!

  • @spida1a Mmm.. That's what I said.

  • I downloaded Fighting Street the day I bought my Wii (2 weeks ago as of today), I like it and I've actually played the real PC Engine version, I like the game, but I'm hopeless at it, I guess the slow control actions are the reason why, but then I;m generally not good at video games.

  • @Lachlant1984 Hey, thanks for watching and commenting my friend. No worries...it's not you...the controls are pretty bad (so they're not very easy to get used to). Thanks again!

  • It's now on the Nintendo Wii shop in the Turbo grafx box....

  • @noelio67 Thanks for watching!

  • Wasn't this also on Master System or some other format?

  • @souljhol No. At the time this was the only console variation of the game (some computer translation were out, though). Thanks for watching!> :)

  • Never understood why they didn't bring back the ninja from this game. He has a great look and would compliment the current SF4 game quite well

  • @giantsfan245 Thanks for watching!

  • oh see how sagat dident have that huge scar on his chest in this game ryu give him that after defeating him i see:)

  • @feipimp The history part of the game...is my favorite part. Great catch! Thanks for watching!

  • This is completely unrelated to the content of the video, but you sound quite a lot like Penn Jillette from Penn & Teller. :)

  • @melakmi LOL. I've gotten that before. Ha ha. Thanks for watching!

  • how much is this game worth used but great condition??????

  • @DRIZZLE831 Hmm, not very much I don't believe. I haven't seen it go for much. :(

  • Excelent review once again. Can anyone imagine the face of the poor guy paying 400$ for the cd add-on in 1990 & picking up this 'thing' for it? Ouch...

Now imagine the exact same game with precise controls? My thoughts exactly...

I mean bad games is one thing but when a bad game means 50% of the launch titles thats bad management... especially when the platform costs this much (by 1990's dollars of course).

Did the programmers of today learned their lesson? of course not :P

  • @Polywanacraka Ha ha. Yeah..not at all. :)

  • Fighting Street sounds so stupid, why couldn't they just keep it as Street Fighter?

  • @Ironfruit16 Agreed!!! Thanks for watching!

  • best street fihgter ever made easy

  • @j5o14jq222 Hey sweet, I don't often meet people who love the first game that much. Cool. Thanks for watching!

  • you kinda sound like oolong from dragonball.

  • @crepe626 Ha. Oh man, that would be awesome. I'd love to be a voice on something like that. You know? LOL

  • @spida1a Yeah I know.

  • @crepe626 Ha ha. I just looked up a clip from it. I totally do! I usually get "you sound like the guy from TOtal Recall" (which would also be awesome, LOL!). :)

  • diz vid is da shit meng rock on lol

  • @y0m0mma84 LOL. Thanks man!

  • @spida1a How much do u think the games r worth now? I know gettin 'em for $3.00 is a steal, but I have a few of the games still. Like "Soldier Blade" "AirZonk" "Keith Courage" "China Warrior" "Shockman". I can't play them anymore tho, don't have the system. My bro was an idiot and sold it for $20 about 10yrs ago. Luv the games alot.

  • @spida1a Ur very welcome. There were certain games that did play all right for the controller. Shockman was pretty good, as well as Keith Courage. Ipod has an app for Turbografx 16. Tho at first u only c 15 gamesp at first and u have to pay $3.00 for each game. It updates once in a while and more games r added. I buy them anyway. What can I say? I'm nostalgic that way :)

  • @Kuroneko388 Nostalgic is awesome! :) Three bucks a game doesn't seem too bad at all. Huh? That's cool!

    Take care.

  • The game looks great for back then. Turbografx controllers were alway shitty. It's like there was a delay glitch or something. Especially for the left side of the directional button. The games play exactly the same on my ipod. So it's not just the controller that's messed up.

  • @Kuroneko388 Yes, it definitely looked pretty good. That I will give it. However, I always felt the TurboGrafx controller to be quite good (especially with the Turbo Stick).

Too bad this game controls bad either on Ipod or at home.....blech. Ha ha.

    Thanks for watching!

  • this game is pure shit

  • @dxrkonwo9 Blech! I hear you. :) Thanks for watching!

  • @dxrkonwo9

Go easy on Street Fighter 1/Fighting Street. Not only is it the granddad of all modern fighting games, it's also the only Home port of the first Street Fighter game (unless you count the PS2, Xbox and PSP versions on the Capcom Classics Collection compilations).

If it wasn't for this, Street Fighter II wouldn't exist. This deserves some respect, at least for that fact.

I pray one day we get a SFIII/SFIV-style remake of SF1. Then people would respect it more.

  • @MaxxTheSlash all the fighting games

street fighter are excellent very good

street fighter 1 no is bullshit

street fighter 1 no respect for anything the only the first game I do not liket this suck fuk street fighter 1 this game is pure shit

  • @dxrkonwo9

Learn to post clearer comments. You just called Street Fighter "excellent very good" The fact that there was no 2, 3 or 4 after it tells me you just called Street Fighter 1 "excellent very good". Then the next thing you say is it's bullshit.

Make up your mind, you mongoloid.

  • @MaxxTheSlash I respect the original arcade version of the game (as I mentioned in the review). It was a decent / average game of which I played quite a bit back-in-the-day. That is, once I found it. ha ha.

However, just because it was the ONLY port at the time should not excuse it for its poor-control-mess, horrible loading times, terrible sound and other issues I had with the game. My opinions of course, but....it is what it is. Thanks for watching and commenting! :)

  • Anyone who reads this and thinks that the game might be ok because it's Street Fighter, with good music, and it looks ok for the time...DON'T!!! The review is spot on, the controls are the worst I have ever encountered in a game... ever!!! And I have played many thousands of games. This is the most wretched fighting game ever! I would rather play Barney's Hide and seek on Sega Genesis. Seriously, it's 1000,000,000 times better.

  • @greedostick Ha ha. I agree........and I've played Barney myself as well! :)

  • @ 03:17 "You are weak hoe"

  • @cleon415 Ha ha!!!

  • There was a cheat for this game, where once you made it to the high score, you could enter codes for the high score name, and thereby use SELECT + FORWARD for the fireball, SELECT + BACK for the hurricane kick, and SELECT + DOWN/RIGHT for the dragon punch. This was the only way to beat the game.

  • @StreetFighter2010 Yup! That was the only way as a kid I could beat a lot of the characters (between that and the slow-mo-trick). Ugh. Not much fun in that though. What a shame. Ha ha.

    Thanks for watching!

  • Wow, it looks terrible :S

  • @SwiftyZeAvenger I was definitely disappointed. Maybe I was a tad "harsh" but.....it is so unplayable in my opinion. You know?

    Thanks for watching!

  • I use to play that game in mexico city in 1989 it was the the best,,, the store ( it was like a gas station without the gas of course) it filled up with high school guys that wanted to play that game ,,they used to get so exited that they literally pull the machine out of the corner trying to make the fireball while the store lady just stare at us hahaha so funny,,, thanks for the video and the memories =)

  • @js071377 How cool! Yes, I used to play the original Street Fighter myself. I liked the arcade version (controls were better). You know? It was a shame that this version was so difficult to play. Ugh! Ha ha.

    Thanks for watching my friend!!

  • Try releasing the button input instead of the tapping the button after directional input like in all other SF games.

  • @Overlord277 Yes, that is pretty much what I was doing (you can't really tell from the "off-game" example I used in the box). I will put that up as an annotation. Still works maybe 20% of the time, sigh. Thanks!

  • @TheNeverSayNever83 Hey, that's true! Great point! :)

    Thanks for watching!

  • Sounds like my old principal at 7:23 from a long long time ago

  • @Sehbius Ha ha! Yikes! :)

    Thanks for watching!

  • Yeah I had no idea this existed until 2008 when I played it on the PSP on some "collection hits game thing"............YIKES.

  • @DeathAdder83 I know. I hear you. I "really" wanted to like this one! I really did. :(

  • Another brilliant review. With all its faults, Fighting Street on the PC Engine/TurboGrafx is still heads and shoulders over the horrendous versions we received over here in Europe for our home computers. They didn't even have the special moves...

  • @JayArgonaut Wow, sorry to hear the Europe ones got so screwed up. ha ha.

    Thanks for watching a ton!

  • By the way you were using your thumb for a hadouken you clearly have no idea how to do it correctly.

  • @dovanian I am well aware how to perform it. I was trying to display the Street Fighter II version of the controls and how, if you're used to this method, it won't work on this edition. Even after getting this one down, however, the controls are horrible and unresponsive.

  • This game is on the VC. *crickets* I'd rather buy SF2 Turbo Edition.

  • @BigBossMan538 I hated to knock this game because...I "kind of" liked the arcade version a little bit. And, it's an early CD title so...that's kind of cool. But, it just has so many flaws and it SO SLOW and not fun to play. I guess it is just not my cup of tea. :(

  • @spida1a Yeah. I trust you. Your one of the few reviewers on YouTube that are trustworthy and are unbiased. I'd rather download Street Fighter 2: Turbo Edition. Merry Christmas and keep up the good work! ;)

  • The Fighting Street announcer got his start on Peanuts.

  • @thatguyontheright1 HA! Totally!!!

  • i love street fighter!!!!!!! :)

  • @321MJB Have a great holiday and thanks for watching!

  • better than SSF4

  • @crashman01 Amen.

  • @ 3:35 he says "Oh Kang! The 'dong-'kong-guh-dum 'an-gahd thank you all over the wall". Partying with Vodka Drunkenski the night before is not without its consequences.

  • I could make out "mmm mm mmm all over the world."

  • @tacoman422 Ha ha!!

  • Good thing Capcom tried again kiddo or else I would never play Street Fi-.......I mean, Fighting Street.

  • @WebVMan Ha ha. Totally!

    Thanks for watching!

  • It's funny. Back in the day, everyone discredited the TG16 for having an 8-bit processor. Now, people are returning to the TG-16 instead of the other 16-bit consoles -- for fun's sake.

TG-16 games play like NES games but have the flashy colorful look of Neo Geo games -- the best of both worlds.

I could barely tell the difference between 16-bits and 8-bits. But I surely can SEE the difference between the 256 colors TG16 and 64 colors Genesis. Compare Ghouls N Ghost to see. TOO LATE, SADLY

  • @signupsigma Just out of curiosity...is this the "comment" you said I deleted? 'cause as far as I can tell, it is still there.

  • @signupsigma

The TurboGrafx-16 / PC-Engine CPU while only 8-bit, the speed of the hardware was comparable to the other 16-bit systems of the era. Bit's don't always equal graphics abilities, example: the Atari 2600 was an 8-bit console. It has 2 GPUs; 16-bit custom video color encoder chip and 16-bit video display controller, out of 512 colors the TurboGrafx could do 482 at once!

Off-topic fun fact, the Sega Genesis was actually a 16/32-bit hybrid machine. The main CPU was 16/32-bit! \o/

  • I want to get this on my Wii... Another guy said this was a good game whatsoever. Should I download this? I want to... but SHOULD I?

  • 1. Great Job! But don't forget there are guys like you all over the world.

    Why could why understand it?

  • Capcom release a collection remix pack on PSP and Fighting Streets is in there.

  • @mp4podcastDOTcom Nice. Have you played it at all?

  • @spida1a I'm getting a copy for PSP this week I'm going to do a review for it on my channel.

As much as this game had problems I still loved it. At the time it was still the best fighting game there was. It was the only fighting game in the arcade i went to.

  • @mp4podcastDOTcom Cool. Let me know how it is.

I enjoyed playing the arcade version at the time. I liked it. ;)

  • You know, I was thinking "Street Fighter 2 was awesome, I wonder what the first one was like?" And I learned something today.

  • i would love to get hold of one of these consoles!! pure class!!

  • @deekay1182 I think you would enjoy the Turbo, for the most part. Thanks for watching. :)

  • no i remember playin the arcade growing up right down the street from my house first arcade i used to play )

  • @goodkarme Cool. Most people never saw it. You are quite lucky.

    Thanks for watching!

  • great game lol

  • @goodkarme Ha ha. Is that sarcasm? Lol! : )

  • Nice video.

Three button controller? You should get the six button.

  • @c0ldb33r Thanks! Ha ha...not paying the money for this game. Maybe for a good one! :) :)

  • the pressure pad lay out of the arcade has been recreated with time instead of force on the turbografx version. the control only sucks because unless you know the timing for force differencing you're pretty screwed. If you can actually get the timing for force differences than you'll be okay, sorta.

the controls still suck but with the correct timing they'll suck less. kinda like the refurbishing of the atari 5200 controller it doesnt make the game better it just works now.

  • @hobocamptheater Yeah. It just does not translate well to the home controls. You know? It's a shame...makes it somewhat unplayable. :)

    Thanks for watching!

  • Mike seems to be the inspiration for Balrog/ M. Bison, or maybe they're the same guy.

Joe is the reverse of Guile.

  • Sagat: Bwaaaaaaaaaa ha ha ha ha! lol.

I think it took me like 24 continues to actually beat him. xD

  • 3:21 What did he say?!

  • @Gizi64 I have good fortune.

  • 4:09 "I'm strong!"

  • @Gizi64 You mean "My thong." That's what I heard! :)

    Thanks for watching.

  • @spida1a No, I heard him say "I'm strong!".

  • @Gizi64 I know that. It was a joke.

  • @Gizi64 In my phonetic translation, he sounds like "Where ya from?"

  • The arcade control set-up for Street Fighter 1 and 2 are identical (6 buttons and a joystick). However it was harder to pull off special moves in the first arcade machine. The arcade game was far from lame however it did have a nasty learning curve.

  • @H3RM3S78 Thanks for watching.

  • i guessed the phrase right because i paused it rewound and listened to it several times

  • @hobocamptheater Awesome! Nice work!

  • is it me,, or does it sound like they are saying "Micheal" when the fight starts.

  • @Stevespeeze That's what I always thought when I was younger. Ha ha!

  • @Stevespeeze it says "faito", japanese phonetic version of "fight".

yeah, it does sound like Michael.

  • Fighting Street beat you but it's not your fault, the game is just that bad.

BTW, what is your favorite Street Fighter game? mine is Super Street Fighter IV

  • Hey, Spida1a. I have a super secret cheat for this game, you can tell me if it has been covered in Turboplay, or Turbografx 16 and Turboexpress secrets vol. 1 or 2: Enter your name on the high score board: .SD, and don't continue. Hold <, select, I, II, and run on the title screen. You can choose any country to travel to. Also gives you better controls for pulling off special combos.

  • man it sounds like Heyman is doing this.

  • @bigbadrich08 Who's Heyman?

  • @spida1a I was talking about former wrestling manager Paul Heyman who had the same voice as you do.

  • @bigbadrich08 No kidding? Ha ha. I'll have to research him and see. :)

    Thanks for watching.

  • rofl what were they thinking!!!! "FIGHTING STREET??? lol that sound dumb

  • @247xGAMER

    Ha ha. Definitely! :)

  • @247xGAMER LOL. Definitely.

    Thanks for watching.

  • @247xGAMER It's a street where people fight.

  • @fattoler He has a point there . Lol! :)

    Thanks for watching!

  • haha, I had to use the special move debug mode that required you to use the select buttion and the D-pad.

  • Yup. Ha ha. I remember that trick and thank goodness for it. LOL! :)

    Thanks for watching!

  • it sounded like he said I'm stoned

  • Ha ha. He might as well be. :)

    Thanks for watching!

  • ha ha ha! I'm Strong! Those fucking japs don't know how to speak very good engrish.

  • @jammandmband actually i guess it'd be "Those fucking Japs don't know how to speak Engrish very well."

  • 3:20 "You Are Big Lou!"

  • Ha ha . I wonder who he is? LOL! :)

    Thanks for watching!

  • When I first saw Gen I thought he was some weird guy but I saw he's in Street fighter 4 and alpha

  • I could hear "all over the world" at the end. Sounds like people who are mentally challenged.

  • I played this game first for Amiga. Wasn't a fan but its cool this led to the legendary sequel :)

  • As a note - the controls for the arcade version were just as bad. Even on emulated format, pulling off the special moves are essentially impossible.

  • This isn't true for everyone. The 6-button controls for Street Fighter 1, if properly emulated, respond when the player released the button. Capcom Classics Collection volume 2 for PS2 has an excellent port of Street Fighter 1. The technique of performing special moves upon releasing the button is referred to by hardcore Street Fighter 2 players as 'buffering' and is a holdover from Street Fighter 1. However, in SF 1 all moves including punches and kicks are done upon release. In 2 only specials

  • omg thank you for the review post!!!

  • Hey, you're welcome. Thanks for watching the video. I hope you enjoyed it! :)

  • OH YEA it was mad refreshing :))! I think Capcom had speached it at a 10.1Kbit wave to save on the arcade Gamma ram storage LOL;; too bad it was never desided on a remastering err... To redo edit to the CD :D

There is a one thing you can tell me though! I was 9 years old when the title was around, I was interested in how much did the TG16 cost when it debuted... As well as with this game? I really thank you for your time :)

  • If you get a chance, check out my playlist for Turbo Views. In it I have more indepth closer-looks at my TurboGrafx system (Extra #1) and the CD-ROM (Extra #2). I talk more about my memories with the two growing up.

There you'll also see that I didn't get the system until a year and 1/2 after it was released. So, the price-ranges are after some discounts were applied to both systems (I paid $99 for the TG and $149 for the CD).

    Thanks :)

  • the one on the classic colletion was alot better than turbo graft turbo graf one sucked dick

  • Will a Japanese PC Engine CD work in America?

  • If you have the correct System Card, yes......a Japanese game will play on an American system. When I was younger, I purchased Castlevania: Dracula-X and it played perfectly on my TurboDuo. :)

  • I am asking this because the Arcade Card was NOT released for the American TurboGrafx-16. Ryuuko No Ken (Art of Fighting) was released only for the Japanese PC Engine CD. It will NOT work on an American console because the Arcade Card isn't compatible with the TurboGrafx-16 unless you have a converter.

  • Right, that is a Japanese PC Engine "Arcade Card" game. So...no, that will not work on an American system without the Arcade Card and a Converter. But, anything "Super System Card" (Super CD) or below will, for the most part (Bonanza Bros. often times will not, for some odd reason) play on an American CD system.

  • i agree i played the turbo graft it was just not like the one on the psp on capcom classics

  • By the grace and beauty of Haman Karn, the control is really fudging horrible! Well, at tleast the graphics are decent and the soundtrack is very impressive, so there's something to look up to.

Take this game as a manual on how NOT to have atrocious control. Can you imagine Guilty Gear, Fatal Fury and King of Fighters starting out with such dubious gameplay?? :O

  • I think every version of Street Fighter makes the dragon punch a little easier to pull off.. in SF4 you can get so sloppy it's ridiculous

  • Regarding the special moves, as a very experienced SF1 player, they were hard to do even in the arcade. They took a sort of rhythm to pull off. Eventually, they could be executed around 90% of the time. The tradeoff was they did big damage. Uppercut and spin kick could randomly "double star" (2x damage). Once did uppercut on Birdie. He's so fast he can get hit, land, and jump in and get hit again by the same Uppercut. First hit, double starred. 2nd hit, dead. 97 left on the round clock.

  • 4:09: "Ha ha ha. I'm thung!"

  • Ha ha. Awful isn't it? LOL! :)

    Thanks for watching!

  • Excellent review. Very entertaining !

  • Hey, cool.....thanks for watching!!

  • I have this title as part of Capcom Classics Collection Vol. 2 for the PS2. Even without the loading times and using a PS2 controller, I can't pull off the special moves usually. Obviously, the music sounds worse too, it being a direct port of the arcade version. Yeah, it is quite bad.

  • I "really" tried to enjoy it this time. Just to not be jaded by bad memories. But..........ugh, I just couldn't. Ha ha.

    Thanks for watching!

  • Did you know that you have to do special moves by releasing the buttons, not by pressing them? Hold a punch button, do the fireball motion, and let go of the button as you finish the fireball motion. You'll get the hang of it.
