It's cool how he uses rest stroke to emphasize the lower note at 1:09 while doing regular free stroke on the top note. This is one of those little details that make Russell's playing so colorful.

This guy plays well, but I don't understand why most players don't perform the correct rhythms of this piece. Many of them change it a little, but this one modify almost all syncopations, changing them into more "square" patterns. I mean the syncopations on measures 6, 7, 10, 11, 15 and 17 (and many others) This song is a "batuque": this pattern (16th, 8th, 16th) on he melody is essential to the mood of the piece. I thougth my score was different, but it's the same he put in the description.

Porque se existir pode entregar pra esse cabra, que ele merece. Autêntico chorão. A interpretação dele do Chôros nº 1 é maravilhosa, a melhor do youtube e a melhor qu já ouvi. Nem a do Turíbio é tão boa.
