  • Awesome Video.

  • yes grandma

  • Nice, but I bet the TV Tuner won't work starting June 13, 2009.

  • Sad, but true.

  • what a lovely news story!!!

  • Isn't all the news like that? lol

  • What's the point of these anymore?? Can't watch DirectTV on it. Just crappy free TV that isn't worth bo-diddly.

  • plug a directv box into it

  • Yes Grandma!!!!

  • translation: Look ma! I made a post!

  • lol thats not fake its real i used to have the tv tuner for my GG

  • Making a converter would be tough, but not impossible. You'd need to make a digial reciever, then have that feed into an analog converter and then into the TV tuner. Quite honestly the work you'd have to put into the thing, you might as well buy a portable TV with a digital reciever.

  • The tuner turns up at the play and trade(its like gamestop) all the time.

  • ACTUALLY IT WOULD STILL WORK

  • BTW where can I get a A/V cable for this doohickey? I've seen videos of people playing their sega genesis and super nes consoles on the Game Gear

  • Why in the hell would you want to play Genesis on a Game Gear screen???

  • cause he wants to fag.

  • just use a regular 3.5mm jack to phono lead, and a phono coupler so you have sockets

  • @Toneman You

will need a Phono to F Adapter which is part number 278-276 at Radio Shack

and costs about $4.50 for the gold plated version. You unhook your switch

box from the end of the TV cord on your old system and plug this adapter in.

Now plug this adapter into the F to 1/8 Inch adapter and plug the whole thing

into the ANT. EXT on the top left of the TV Tuner. Tune to channel 3 and you

    are good to go.

  • Yeah, it's an analogue tuner... and while it won't "go bad" it won't work when broadcasts move to digital.

If you want to buy one, look out - older game gear units won't work with them (they lack the coax input) and these were region specific (the channels are tuned per region, so if it's a japanese model it won't pick up US stations correctly) I've heard rumours they were discontinued in the US due to FCC violations, but more likely just because the late game gears weren't compatible.

  • kinda sad that in February, 2009, this will stop working :(

  • the tv tuner serves as an attena i guess?

  • Same here in the UK. Allot of areas already only get a digital signal (such as parts of Wales) and by 2012 the whole of the country will be completely without the original analogue signal...

  • LIFETIME WARRANTY YES GRANDMA

  • Was the PAL-version never released?

  • it,s justr amezing how the gamegear despites it,s graphical and sound limmitations can handle such astounding picture & sound, can,t believe it,s viewed from the game gear wow!!!!

  • I know that that is an analog tuner, since it was made in the 1990's and they didn't have over-the-air tv that was digital.

  • don't buy the tv tuner now, because it will go bad after febuary 17, 2009, since that is an analog tuner, and after feb 17, u need a digitaltuner to watch over-the-air tv.

  • It's still okay to buy the TV Tuner even after February 17, 2009, because it can be a collector's item.

  • maybe some smart person will figure out how to put a converter on the tuner.

  • you can plug an AV device into it anyway

  • Good. Now do it with the PSP.

  • I always wanted the tv tuner

  • that thinge was proven that the tuner leaks radiation everywhere XD..

  • haha fuck yeah! i always wondered what that was like. on the back of my gamegear box, it had a list of accessories and TV tuner was one of them. i always wondered what the fuck that was.

  • bad ass

  • I always wanted one of those. Awesome!

  • that thing well don't remember whats call the thing to see TV on your GAME GEAR its very hard to find where did you find it man,?

  • It's called a TV Tuner...

  • thanks but i just wanted to know where to find the TV.tuner

  • For the heck of it, this station is ABC affiliate WRIC TV8 in Richmond, Virginia.

  • The Game Gear was really ahead of its time it's too bad it never did have third party support like Nintendo did with the original monochrome Gameboy. The Game Gear can suck the life out the batteries like no tomorrow. It's look like you need to buy a dozen of batteries just for road trips and plane rides.

  • maybe I can pick me up one...

too bad it won't work in just over a year.

  • LOL!! Soooo ol' skool. Dude, you've won YouTube poster of the year after I've seen this. That adapter was so hip so I thought when I saw it for the first time via an EB mail catalog.

  • I still have my Game Gear. Never got the TV tuner. I didn't even think that it actually worked, until now.

  • Totally rad, I wish my brother still had his :( . I need to get a Turbo Vision before analag television stations are out!

  • Note to self, I purchased a Turbo Vision a week ago from TZD! I ordered the last one for half off, but it hasn't arrived yet.

  • The Game Gear really was ahead of its time, it just didn't have the third-party support that Nintendo did.

Also, it was a battery vampire. It seemed like you'd need dozens of batteries just for a plane ride or car trip.

  • My dad used to have that for his Game Gear. God rest his soul.

  • WTF how u do that?

  • I used to play my snes on my game gear!! using the tv tunner.
