Its easy run that thing up on a block of wood like maybe a 2x4 and run a chain around the frame to the axle to keep the damn thing from dragging on the ground. Be smarter than the situation.
@mikey0himself when one blows the other one suddenly has double the load. what likely happened here is one of the tires was flat and the driver didn't notice. Then drove on it and the other tire taking all the load blew out.
@walterj89 would have been distributed to the remaining tires evenly. another theory would have been that the deflated tire knocked the other one off the bead.
@bitsyray lol... your logic is illogical. lets do the math. assuming a max load of 20,000kg for the pair of axles, a single pair of tires gets 5000kg. that is 2500kg for each tire. if a tire blows that single tires weight does not get redistributed anywhere but to the adjacent tire.
@Lmackattack Yessir.. a rim and tires are a lot cheaper than a lost load. I had a blowout once on my tag axle/bridgemaster and I kept going. Radioed Dispatch on what to do and they told me to keep getting it, so I did :)
@mrfanman2u Yep. the cost to replace the tire/rim is alot cheeper than a new drum. Never liked the supersingles as when you louse one your done untill a new one goes on. I have driven on a flat just to get to a place to have it changed out. If I was real old school I would change it on the side of the road. but that power steering made me a wimp.
