how long do the motors last before needing replacment. I am about to by boat in 2 days from now major factor on if i get it or go for a single motor one so its cheaper to fix
for a few hundred dollars u should have went with a brushless like the SuperVee 27 or the Blackjack 26(or the nitro version of the blackjack)i have the blackjack 26 nitro and i GPS'd it at 29.5mph...but i think thats nice that u run ur boats with ur son
as for the supervee 27 i was toying with the idea of getting it but got the traxxas instead and def ain't displeased as to whever the supervee27 is faster thats debatable,if you can show me a race with them both then fair enough , i still might buy a supervee27 eventually anyway , all in all though this is the first decent fast boat ive had and its not always about speed , this one handles bloody great and never capsizes , only gets some water in sometimes ! a stonking boat dude !
i agree i used to have this boat and it accelerates faster than a supervee 27 but is not faster, definetley better handling though, and it is also good in rough water but i sold both my villian ex and supervee 27 to get a blackjack 26 nitro and im even more pleased
cool , interesting to know you have had the supervee 27 and villain ex and that you now have the blackjack and ya even more pleased , maybe i will consider just getting blackjack eventually and skipping the super vee? a wise choice? for now though i still love me villain ex and only sail her now & again so she will do for now but thanks for ya comments dude !!
I would skip the supervee if i could go back because it is very unstable and the radio box gets water in it very easily . The nice thing is the blackjack is very stable and comes nitro power and brushless powered. But anyway have fun with the villian cause I know thats a great all around boat.
well carnt recomend the grey thunder as never heard of it , all i can say is the villains a great battery boat with no messing about like petrol/nitro boats if youve got a link for the grey thunder let me know so i can check out cheers
Although the boat got up to 21, the video makes it seem slower. Are you running stock motors in it? I just put a pare of stingers in my Proboat PT. I'm hoping I can get some good speed out of it. The traxas website says the stinger is a "mild performer". What are your thoughts?
yer stock motors dude ,maybe it seems slower to you cuz your used to seing extremely fast boat vids or something lol can assure you it was the stated speed , proofs on my sat nav on the vid dude !!, although faster is always better hehe if youy after super fast then get a nitro boat matey how about a aquacraft supervee27 there pretty good ive heard
cuz like yer i could do but there dangerous for a start , they can explode !! and i would also need a lipo charger, its a costly option but a lot lighter !!
i was going to ge a supervee as i looked faster but honesly it really is not as good as the villain and not as reliable , save your money got a villain ex mate you deff wont regret it honestly !! im glad i decided to get one and not the supervee
im going to buy an aquacraft super vee 27 from the states. they say it will go over 30 mph white 14 cells it is of course bruskless it cost 2o dollar more then our model but the aquacraft can drive wen it is waves it will flip around. it goes to fast.
jynx dj ; yer knew about the small hole but it didnt really help to get the water out that much , it came out better from under the ridge so still toying with weather to seal under the ridge or not ?or maybe i wnt be able to get any water out then ?
i couldnt fit the nokia inside it was slightly to wide but think was prob beter where i put it as she took some water in , noticed quite a bit of water insside where ya carnt get to so not sure how that got in ? might seal under the rim ? but if any water gets in the prob wnt be able to get it out
It's normal for a bit of water to get inside and even between the two parts of the hull. This happens in rough water fi you are doing sharp spin turns or if you do a lot of sudden stops and let the wake splash up behind it. Just turn the boat upside down with the hatch off and there's a hole on the right side where the windscreen would be if the hatch were on. Any water trapped in the hull should drain out there.
this traxxas villain ex is now for sale so anyone that wants it feel free to message me

yes 2 battery conectors are standard on the villain , you have to use 2 battery packs that dont come with the boat
nickhow100 3 years ago
Also what are the best mah batteries i can use that will give me a long run time?
jbf890 3 years ago
When you buy the villain ex does it come with those stupid black connectors already attached or do you have to pu them on?
jbf890 3 years ago
yer the stupid black ones and , get some tamiya connectors
nickhow100 3 years ago
if i use 3000mah batteries how long will its run time be?
jbf890 3 years ago
hard to say exactly as depends how fast you use the boat for how long, ect ect but expect somewhere around 20-30 mins
depending on boat speed !! always best to havea spare couple of packs to get longer

nickhow100 3 years ago
how do you fit your batterys in the boat
i tried with hump cells and it diden't fit
carcode123 2 years ago
you use 6 cell packs with one xtra cell on the top (the hump) making it 7 cell humped , you will have to but them like that or make your own
nickhow100 2 years ago
you could get 7 cell flat packs
Rcow58 2 years ago
7 cell flat packs, ya mean lithium cells?
cuz like yer i could do but there dangerous for a start , they can explode !! and i would also need a lipo charger, its a costly option but a lot lighter !!

Nice work Nick! These boats are a BLAST! I need a GPS badly! 21 mph is great for first runs, congrats!!!
igottalongone 4 years ago
Looking good! Nice thing about the Villain, you can run it on choppy water and still have fun!
You should have room under deck for the GPS. I can fit my Garmin e-trex up against the forward part of the battery box and still fit the hatch on.
