ever just stumble upon a tune and go.... 'Jesus thats where they lifted that sample from!' that just happened to me just now. Might have been Soulwax that brought me looking for this. Good music all the same, might have a hunt for some more of their stuff #justsaying
@AxeManJax I believe John McGeoch wasn't an official member yet and therefor not included on the video, 'cos if I remember right, Steve Jones was also involved when recording the Kaleidoscope. But I could be wrong.
Conversations including stuff like 'correct' - and 'belongs to this movement' and 'post 'x, 'y' 'z' - wtf?? . .Rollox, That sorta talk woulda got yr head kicked in back in '79! (I DO NOT condone violence, btw!) But ffs - i remember the late 70's - and 'belonging' to a 'movement' - was the last thing on my list in 79. In fact 'NOT belonging' was more whole idea if i recall :-) peace
And ffs - I FORGOT what i came here to say in the FIRST place! GRR!
Which was - I fkg LOVED Siouxsie back then. I would say she "Inspired' me in my impressionable youth - or sthg 'post-bolleaux' along those lines, but. . . . lmao and PLUR :-) x
I wish everyone would shut up about msi and just appreciate how amazing siouxsie and the banshees are without bringing up that pile of wank that sampled this song.
They didn't have a fixed one at the time. From memory they used Robert Smith(Cure) at the time or John McGeoch (Magazine). I'm not totally sure it was a loooooong time ago. I also saw Budgie plying with the Slits not long before this so it could have been around the time when the original drummer and guitarist walked out, i think, before a Glasgow gig. Oh I don't know.
Compelling to watch and a legacy of fantastic songs that trip me right back to the late 70's and early 80's. I was a skilled back-comber with an endless supply of industrial strength hairspray! LOL
Then Robert smith is not a goth. He hates this tag. The cure were a goth band , in the albums "seventeen seconds", "faith" and "Pornography".....in the same that the early Banshees, This is the reason because I write "the queen of goth"........but i agree with "the icve queen"...i like it....
And by the way.....I don´t like the word "goth" for bands like the cure or the Banshees.....it's better to say "Darkwave post punk".....I think is the correct tag.....
@vicoland I would agree with that. They are from col and new and dark wave right ine the 80's. Goth figured they can tag that "goth" but hey why not. This is dumb enough to be.
@vicoland stop making up labels. No one called it Darkwave in the day. They would have either called it post punk in the early 80s (since it followed the 70s) or "Alternative" or at best "Industrial" rock. late in the late 90s it was refered to as Nuwave but never new wave. New wave was Blondie. I have never heard of Darkwave through the entire 80s

Siouxsie is called the Queen of Goth beacuse she was one of the main and first inspirations the Goth movement took. She wasn't goth, that's obvious.

You can inspire a movement without being part of it. Goth certainly took a lot of cues from Siouxsie. And Robert Smith Of The Cure, for that matter.
