  • I remember watching this at the time and thinking this is the first time Irish dancing looked sexy. Jean Butler and her little black dress had a lot to do with that.

  • THE ALL BLACKS .........

  • It's amazing that it always takes people from another country to breathe life into Irish culture. Good on you Flately and Butler

  • @cuntzillamcgonigle They're of Irish heritage.Amazing what an ass you are.

  • @bansheewhiskey You thick cunt-what's that got to do with it? THese people may be of irish descent but they are NOT Irish, they're Americans

  • Does anybody know the beautiful piece of music at the start of this?

  • I was in the long valley today for a toasted sandwich !

  • This was the year before I was born... It was on reeling in the years tonight though :L Im so sad :L

  • god that brings me right back to my childhood i was seven when i saw this live that night...makes me so proud to be Irish

  • Just been to Dublin to see the show again. Amazing!!! I still remember this Interval of the Eurovision Songcontest as one of the most fascinating elements ever. This is normaly a very dull moment. But not then. And I can't remember who won... Let's just say: Michael Flatley and Jane Butler with their Riverdance!!!

  • Back then I played this over and over on my VHS so many times that all the images on the screen turned blue! LOL.

Love it when Jean joins Michael at 4:09. That melody is absolutely fantastic - would love to get it transcribed! Also, what a joyous moment at 5:17.

  • that girl is achingly beautiful .. my 1st wife was irish, red hair and green eyes .. the whole production is stunning though. whoever conceived it is a genius. Makes me wonder that the human race can concieve something as beautiful as this and can also be so barbaric at other times ..

  • The greatest Eurovision interval segment in the history of the competition, EVER!

  • God bless Ireland

  • Seeing this at the age of 10 made me obsessed with Irish music and dance to this day...

  • this is absolutely breath taking!! makes me proud to be irish! :)

  • The greatest Eurovision we ever held, with the greatest ever entertainment seen at Eurovision! 10/10

  • I LOVE KATIE MCMAHON

  • Woooooow ! Thats All i Can Say, Im Speachless

  • I was in the Long Valley Bar in Cork, I remember the whole bar suddenly quietened down for no reason, everyone's heads were turned to the TV, the buzz in the bar after it had finished was great, that was modern Ireland. We could be proud of something that outsiders were watching. What a different place Ireland is these days.

  • @tubesmar

Ireland is still great, not that different. And so is the Long Valley!

  • @tubesmar Thats the exactly the same thing that happened to my mam but she was in a pub in Dublin

  • @tubesmar I was in the Arthur Conan Doyle bar in Nth Circular road,Dublin.Same reaction.

  • @bansheewhiskey When you could still smoke. :-(

  • I was 13 that year. I remember being blown away by it. And the roar of the crowd when they stopped, god it was amazing. I would love if we won this year, it would be just what the country needs.

  • The girl has always reminded me of Nicole Kidman

  • @vanjane Just abouit to say the same thing...! Just watched it again on the History of Eurovision Documentary, and remembered how stunned I was when first seeing it in 1994.

  • Do not be quick to put down Jedward, yes they are somewhat different to riverdance. But then again riverdance won eurovision in 1994, this is 2011 and when Jedward perform for eurovision, they will be reflecting a modernizing Ireland and that is something to be proud of!

  • @2coolforthis1 Erm... Riverdance didn't win Eurovision, it was the interval act. Charlie McGettigan and Paul Harrington won in 1994 with Rock and Roll kids.

But ye I agree- GOOOOOO JEDWARD :)

  • @2coolforthis1 Riverdance didnt win the eurovision.it was the interval act.

  • @asmartcunt Thanks and my bad.

  • i love river-dance i do it in my dance class im officially ADDICTED to it ive watched this about a hundred times! :D

  • ...yes... could you please put the names of the performers on the info not the tags only... the choir are Anuna, the dancers are Michael & Jean - just in case "Official Riverdance" has forgotten that fact.

  • By far the best thing to come out of Eurovision over the past 20 years. I never tire of watching it.

  • @brecklander - Agree totally. I could watch this over and over and always feel disappointed when it ends!! This made Irish dancing sexy again. Have seen the live Riverdance show twice - both times in Belgium. The audience reaction is always phenomenal - makes one proud to be Irish!!
