Space Commander Travis, excellent villain or misguided loyal federation officer? Either way he was a fantastic character obsessed with getting even with Blake. Shame they killed him off but then again they killed everyone except Servalan or perhaps maybe, just maybe Avon?
I think with Servalan being the arch-enemy in B7, it was the best thing about B7 and the fact B7 was the first ever science fiction series to have a female arch-enemy was excellent. I would have hated not to have had Servalan, stay in the series she certainly had millions and billions of depth to her character than Travis ever did. I wish Travis, had died at the end of series one and Servalan had acquired a new sidekick in series two. If she had had a new sidekick it would have worked better.
I also think one actor I can imagine playing Travis, if not Stephen Greif is Anthony Ainley who would have been bloody good in a role like this. It is possible if Ainley had played Travis from day one, Travis may have been around much longer than he actually was who knows?. I also think that although Stephen Greif was excellent as Travis, Servalan was a much more interesting character who lasts longer than Travis ever does. Servalan has so much depth and potential, it was good she was kept .
I have heard this music for this scene, used in scene in an episode of the original Famous Five episode when Quetien Keeran's car broke down and would not reverse properly. I wish arch-enemy Servalan could have been in this episode in some ways, still she returns in the following episode Project Avalon and from there she starts to become more involved in the action unlike her first story seek-locate -destroy. Servalan for me was always a more interesting villain then Travis, she outlived him.
I suppose it would not have been possible to include Servalan in this episode, what could she have done in this episode? I was peased to see Servalan, back in the folowing episode Project Avalon which was her second story and in that story, she was starting to become more invoved in the action. It is a pity the status of her name has never, been explicitly stated whether it was her forename, second name or even only name she had who really knows? I guess we will never eally know for certain.
@rojblake82 The character names in B7 were interesting cos they tended to be known by either their surname or first name in different cases e,g Roj Blake, Kerr Avon, Vila Restal, Jenna Stannis, Oleg Gan - kind of peculiar and i don't know why it varies this way. I like to think Servalan wa a surname, and her first name was Gladys or something!
@TheRaz0rEdge I have heard this piece of music in the original famous five, series with Gary Russell it was in the episode five get into a fix. It is the scene where quentin Kieran the uncle, of Dick Kieran has his car a silver Ford Granada estate get stuck in forward and won't reverse properly. I thought this piece of music when used for that scene was quite spooky, and I knew I had heard it off Blake's 7 in the episode Duel. It seems incidental music, can be reused in many different shows
I always loved the music from the early eps mostly season1. The music from eps like duel are amongst my pervasive memories of the series. Haven't seen this in ages.
Haven't watched it in ages. But this reminds me of the mutoids, what they are etc and all the other cool things about the show. It's ripe for a "reimagining" from the RIGHT creative team.
the build-up noise and beeps are from Alan Hawkshaw's "Countdown" theme, also it was used on "NASA, the 25 years" documentary, and on the intro and outro to UNKLE's "Psyence Fiction" album.
Blake's 7 was an awesome show, I started watching it when I was 9 and was really sad when it ended. It was VERY low budget and so may look pretty crap compared to modern fx, but the characters and their relationships are what kept me coming back, not the sets or the fx. Some of the outfits were pretty cool tho.
i want me a mutoid slave girl!

I'm not sure I'd want to go out with a Mutoid Modification. Easy to but the perfect present though.

@iarfirithwen season 1 was the first and best of Blake's 7 and this episode, Duel was one of the best.
