@bapfontein almost every rule in aussie rules, most recently the hand pass, was taken from gaelic football. Rugby was supposedly created as a mix of gaelic football and soccer. american football has taken tons rules from rugby league. aussie rules took the oval ball idea from rugby. every ball sport has taken the red/yellow card system from rugby league. its just what sports do, they imitate each other. Rugby was supposedly created as a mix of gaelic football and soccer. american football has taken tons rules from rugby league. aussie rules took the oval ball idea from rugby. every ball sport has taken the red/yellow card system from rugby league. its just what sports do, they imitate each other. They failed , no sooner was the state formed when a special relationship was handed to the Catholic Church,, and before any bill on any single issue could be passed , it had to be sanctioned by the Catholic bishops. The Irish have got rugby and they're a lot better at soccer than Aus. Football and hurling give Ireland it's culture, whereas there's nothing unique about Aussie rules, just another sport where money talks loudest. Cricket is a pathetic excuse for a sport. Hurling just so happens to have the greatest combination of skill and toughness in the world. Everyone who comes to Ireland marvels at the GAA, so you're wasting your time.

Football and Hurling gave Ireland it culture. You call a contrived game fFootball , a game made up just over a century ago , which took numerous elements of other games like Football and Rugby and end up with a bastardised game . The game was called Gaelic , but today it is widely known as PADDYBALL/BOGBALL . For over a century the GAA was proyud of it links to the Irish culture , music language, politics etc, but now some are deeply ashamed of these links and are trying to rebrand .
