@purpleshark1o1 The solo cello guy in front is just ridiculous. It's a CONTINUO PART and he's flailing and convulsing more than Jacqueline du Pré playing Elgar...
Shouldn't the bass viols, and maybe the strings in general, be more a la corda? I was under the impression the true baroque string practice was less detaché, I mean less echoey. Then again, it is possible to change the technique to have a different sonic effect.
There is in this ensemble an admirable balance between activity and repose... space and occupation. I also greatly enjoy the heavy contingency of chitaronnes.
It's hard to imagine old Arcangelo not sitting in his heaven saying to himself: "Damn i was good" or whatever they would say in Ravennese at that time.
Oh! just listen to those rich and complex harmonies within this music. If you ask me Corelli was way ahead of his time with these. Such beautiful music!!
Truly beautiful!

Does this group tour in the United States at all?

You only ever hear #8 from this suite, but this one (esp. the last movement) is awesome.
dan131m 2 years ago
@dan131m #8 isn't really the best one. This one however I think is one of the best, next to number 10.

perfetto nei tempi , sublime nell'esecuzione : un integrale dell' Opus 6 in CD e DVD sarebbe il massimo...

At last the next movement of this masterpiece. Nice ornamentation in the slow movement Nicholas ! Just in style and character and timbre.
