My wonderful husband just bought me my first kitchenaid mixer! (first I made chocolate chip cookies with my 4 year old) .... but the 2nd thing ... were these bread sticks for dinner! Thank you so much for showing how to do this, took an hour less then it used too in my bread maker! I used to do the dough for 1:30 mins then still had to bake it! It was so much fun! Thank you! I love my new kitchenaid mixer! (my 11 yr anniversary present!)
I am hunting things right now, and want to ask about water. I have my gallon of srong water preserver, which is added to gallon jars of water.by a drop to preserve it. How are you doing on water saving, and what do you reccommend? Also, with city water and chemicals in it, is it safe to add preservative?
I feek without water, no amount of food will keep anyone going. Wish I llived nearer to you; I would talk Rick into making me a can rotator! thanks for all your help.
I had not thought-thru the problem of the economy all over the world and how it would affect us. I did prepare for Y2K, and had alot to use up from that, and my husband really wondered why I did this. However, with Greece possible going under financially, and Ireland too; with the USA so unstable, I have to think of Grandma and what she said about the Great Depression. They canned Lambs Quarters WEEDS to have something to feed the kids. Things were terrible. Scarey
Where can I find instant yeast in the store? What does the container look like? The only yeast I have ever used is the Fleishman's that comes in the little packets. I am not much of an experienced baker...does proofing mean soaking the yeast in warm water? Can you substitute instant yeast for regular yeast in all recipes?
Gee Noreen, those look wonderful! And don't ya just love a guy who will chip in and make a dish for the family? I am blessed to have one of those guys too!
I had not seen this video, before making my 'Whole Wheat Blender Pancakes' video today. I too mentioned Crystal in my video, since I learned to make blender pancakes from her. So ironic that we both talked of her on the same day. She's a inspiration...and so are you!
I will say just after I said about your focaccia video - this looks like the great beginnings for some awesome cheesy-bread (like Little Ceasar's). Having spaghetti tonight, so will definitely be making this recipe. Thanks Noreen!
Just did this. It's rising as we speak. Looks exactly like the video! Yay! I had to knead by hand because I couldn't find my dough hook, but it really only took 5 minutes or so. I can't wait to see your recipe variations! Thanks!
@paidskn1488 If you use yeast that you have to proof in warm water, you only want to put sugar in with the yeast, never salt because the salt can kill the yeast if you use too much. I have used instant yeast here in this recipe. I use instant yeast exclusively because it eliminates the proofing process. When it is dry the salt will not kill it. I have never had a problem this way. Thanks for watching and commenting. Noreen : )
Love your videos. The possibilities are endless with this recipe. Thanks I don't have a stand mixer can I just mix it by hand and still get the same results?
@pennypinchingmom Yes, you can make this by hand, just knead by hand once all the flour is incorporated for about 5 minutes, then let rest fro 5 minutes then press into the pan, you should be good to go. Thanks for watching and commenting! Noreen : )
EXCELLENT!!! That is the GREAT thing about Food Storage and cooking this way...once you have some tools in your toolbox the possibilities are endless. Thank you for sharing your toolbox with us!!! I was thinking about some butter cinnamon sugar and some rehydrated apples from the cannery...maybe a drizzle of confectioner sugar glaze....yummy!!
@bearlysceneranch2011 I know what you mean! Wait till you see the sticky buns I made. I adjusted the recipe and used some milk and butter and oh boy were they good. That vid will be coming later in the week. I have been using your pizza dough the last two weeks on pizza night and we love it. So easy and super fast. Much better than even the dough balls from the store deli. I plan on working out some more recipes with this base. I approved your video response. Thanks! Noreen : )
I am a new sub I love your quick and easy recipes thank you :0)

didnt the oil hinder your ability to effectively stretch the dough into the pan?...maybe cornmeal instead?

This is a great idea! I think you could do the rolls with orange rind, butter and sugar for the middle, roll up and slice and bake. Frost when done.
As you said the possibilities are endless. I am doing it beehive style, and using honey glaze.
Thanks for all the great ideas!
