Chill people. As far as big blockbuster films go, the MI movies manage to be alot better than some of the other ones (Pirates OTC 4?). We have a Oscar-worthy cast with Cruise (pushing 50) doing his own stunts so respect there, The Hurt Locker's Jeremy Renner and freaking Simon Pegg who I think will steal the movie. The cast is a huge, talented notch up from the last one so why is everyone complaining? (p.s. there will be Ving Rhames). Oh Plus there's also the great Brad Bird at the helm...yep.

Ah a remake of Mission Impossible. Should have seen that one coming. The plot is the exact same as the original. Mission goes up in smoke, Ethan to blame, disavowed, puts together a team to get to the bottom of it, solves case, end of movie. Along the way the killer is truly revealed. SAME...AS...ORIGINAL!

@mayhem9024 Well we don't know what's going to happen yet. Renner actually said they were grooming him to take over for Cruise but he also said he doesn't know if it's gonna happen or not. Personally I think he'll take over the Bourne franchise because he's gonna be the main character in Bourne Legacy. In MI:GP he's only supporting. Besides Damon said he'll only come back to Bourne if Paul Greengrass comes back. So Renner taking over the Bourne franchise is more than likely.

When you sign on to be the lead role in part four of a big franchise like Bourne, you don't just sign on to do the one film. You sign a three film contract. If he is the new main lead character then you can be assured we are supposed to care about him. He may not be the same as Damon but that's a given. Both characters will be radically different from each other.

@mayhem9024 Alright, look at The Terminator franchise. How long was until T3 got made after T2? It was at least twelve years. People were begging for a sequel after T2 came out. Six years later during the promotion of Titanic people were still asking James Cameron to do a sequel but he kept on saying no. The studios took notice however because another six years later we got T3. So it goes to show that you don't need to make a film just to keep the franchise alive.

You don't create a new lead character to star in one of the highest grossing spy franchises if they're only gonna appear in one film. He signed a three film contract with him as the main lead and he is the main lead until his contract is finished.

It's still a legally binding contract that both parties cannot break otherwise the other party has the right to sue them. Look, if you are cast as the lead actor in a major studio film, that studio will get you to sign a contract for the next two films in the franchise. Chris Pine did it for Star Trek, Christian Bale did it for Terminator. It's an insurance policy.
