@EminemFan1fan It's an RG3EX1QM, which I believe was a Guitar Center-exclusive model. You can find the same model with a flame top (RG3EX1FM) at a lot of other places, but I never saw the quilted-top model anywhere else. I love RGs, hate the Floyd Rose/Edge series trems on most of them though, so it took me a while to find a good one with a fixed bridge.

I guarantee you won't find a tab for Mike's part of the 2008 live version of One Step Closer on Ultimate-Guitar or any other tab site, and even if you did, it would be nowhere near this accurate. Check the link in the video description - the tabs I link to are my own transcriptions that I've done completely from scratch, and my videos are merely a visual accompaniment to them.

@LinkinParkKanenite For the most part, yes. There are a few spots where Brad plays and Mike doesn't, the reason Mike started playing guitar on this was because the new intro they used in 2007 had 2 guitar parts in it. Mike also plays some octaves over the new extended outro sometimes.

it can actually lol it happened at a tallent show here last year. the guy got to the bridge in a song and hit the neck and it snapped. just because you've never seen something happen doesn't mean it can't happen.

What KingOfKingX said - The only way a guitar's neck is going to break from that amount force is either from a defect with the guitar or something the owner did to it (not fully screwing the neck bolts back into place after removing it, tuning heavy-gauge strings up too high and creating extreme amounts of tension on the neck resulting in the "whiplash effect," neglect of maintenance allowing the neck to warp/crack, etc.).

I think Schecter makes slightly better quality instruments for their price range than Ibanez does. I hate how most of Schecter's guitars have active pickups in them though...I'd buy a C-1 Hellraiser in a heartbeat if it didn't have the EMG 81/85 pickups.

i got a diamond C-1+ and its got passive pick ups and I love it. Not only does it handle distortion well but the clean is really good and i use it on funk hip hop stuff. I like the RG's neck and finish on some of the models and they are fun to play but if you got the extra 100 to put out for the schecter do it.

I'm actually thinking about selling my current RG and upgrading to the RGT42FXQM, they just put out an awesome new green finish on it, plus it's a neck-through instead of a bolt-on neck and doesn't have the cheesy sharktooth inlays.

If I get a Schecter, I might get the C-1 Baritone and use it for stuff in Drop B. The C-1 Exotic Star also looks cool but I think it's been discontinued.

You sure you have the exact same guitar/amp as me? I play an Ibanez RG3EX1 through a Fender Champion 30 DSP. The current RG3EX1 also has different pickups than mine, mine is a couple years old and has EMG-designed pickups. You might not be using the same settings either, my settings are on my profile.

Yeah I bought mine around the time you bought yours and it's the same exact model with the designed by EMG pickups. Also I've been using your settings for quite a while so I'm sure that's not the problem lol. You know i think since you can't figure it out it might just be me thinking it sounds different when its not lmao. But thanks anyways. :)

There's all kinds of other little factors that contribute as well - the height you have your pickups set at affects your tone, so does the type of cables you use, the type of strings you use, even plugging your amp into a different outlet can change the way it sounds. And no two guitars/amps will ever sound EXACTLY the same, even if they're the same model.

I always use Monster Cables, but no one specific kind. I have 2 of the kind with gold-plated connectors, I have one with black connectors and green stripes where one is an angled jack (I usually use that for the guitar input), and I have a Monster Bass cable that I run from the output of my Blood Drive to the input of my amp because it seems to retain the low end frequencies better than any of my other cables (not surprising since it's made for bass).

Personal preference is all. You don't have to hit the neck quite as hard as the body to make the strings vibrate, I just like hitting something that's more solid.

I move my mouth all the time while I play guitar. I don't know why, I never notice that I'm doing it until I watch myself afterwards. I think maybe since I was a singer before I was a guitar player, I do things with my mouth to help keep rhythm.
