why is this journalist talking when you got people who was actually there can tell the real story he gets not points for fabricated that gun in the afro crap
@sadelover100 You sound much to hateful of all races to engage in aspect of intelligent debate. So read a book or two, travel some, speak to people outside of your block and become a bit more open minded.
There nothing here about George Jackson's ideas ... it is hardly worth bothering to watch; just the story of guards being killed but without context. So the story is brutal and horrible but it is really sadly sensational
@ Have you read Soledad Brother? If you did you would comprehend the sentiment behind a man whose anger was deeply rooted in the racist, oppressive, fascist, and brutal climate of America during the 1960s. Someone who at one point was a petty criminal, but then became susceptible to the most dehumanizing, inhumane experience one can face in their lifetime: prison. Through his intellectual development and self education, he showed what one could achieve even under the most trying circumstances.
@NYCDred False. His defiance of an oppressive, racially biased prison system (which was a microcosm representing a racially divided America) was very warranted and just. He was a man who transformed himself from a petty criminal to a self educated, self disciplined, intellectual, and revolutionary. In prison he witnessed the unjust murders of several Black inmates. He himself was a victim of death threats, and a very unwarranted, excessively extensive prison sentence. His anger was rooted.
@lifestraight ... wrong ...very wrong.....he was a violent felon who did not care anything about black revolution. He was an armed robber (if you consider that petty ????) whose initial prison sentence was extended due to assaults and infractions. He murdered a 25 year old rookie guard who had nothing to do with the shooting. ( I guess Jackson was a microcosm for unjust murder of citizens that divided America between the dead and living). Support Obama, Rice, Malcolm X, Dr. King not monsters
@NYCDred Several Black inmates murdered. It was called justifiable homicide. Guards giving White guards shanks and weapons to attack Black inmates. Guards trying to set up and orchestrate Jackson's murder. 11 years in such an environment would drive any brave soul to do the same.
@NYCDred Three Black inmates were murdered and it was ruled justifiable homicide. What I meant was racist white guards would give white inmates weapons to attack and kill blacks with. Guards attempted to orchestrate George's assassination. Such an environment would drive any brave soul to take action.
@NYCDred I understand you have your selected bootlicking, uncle tom negroes you've surround yourself with who listens to you spew your unintelligible garbage with much praise and a welcoming spirit..but truth is when it comes to human survival, warrior spirits and killer instincts of man..right and wrong is indefineable...in fact we know if soledad brothers were white men, they'd be Media Mythic Heroes and Americans would be singing praise in their honor today. ESPECIALLY TODAY
@sadelover100 THAT IS A FACT! EVERY HISTORICAL FIGURE WE LEARNED ABOUT FROM OUR FIRST PRESIDENT WERE CRIMINALS. IF THEY HADN'T WON THE WAR THEY WOULD'VE BEEN HUNG FOR TREASON AND WE'D HAVE NO UNITED STATES. NOT TO MENTION THE RAPE AND ROBBERY OF EVERY NATIVE HABITANT ON EARTH.
@ccstevens5 Extreme violence hasn't solved a thing for the brothers and sisters and we need to stop that frame of thinking. We need to quit thinking that copying the oppressors methods is the only way to become free because it's not because once you play into the hands of the beast you lose. I know it wasn't easy for george jackson because he was a victim of racism & they wanted to kill him anyway.
Well, he was already angry that he had been in prison for so long; he was angry at the system as whole. I think his brother's death was the last draw for him.
The 'law' is that violence begets violence whoever you are. Nobody is innocent. Everyone makes their choices and like it or not, there are consequences to everything. I didn't feel this way as a 23-year-old, but I do now. I can understand George, and he got what he wanted. It wasn't revenge. It was release.
I remember Geroge having made it clear in an interview, in which was conducted not too long after his brother's death, that there would be funerals on both sides. He waa obviously right, and I believe it was his warning regarding what was to come.
Yes, he had his chance. Jonathan took a stand and it was more imporant than the consequences to him. George did the same when it was his turn. If you don't stand up for something, you'll lie down for anything. He decided it was time to go. The guards orchestrated their own demise.
After his brother's attempt he was told that the guards were plotting to have him killed, as mentioned. It was kill or be killed, or at least take them with you if you can. The hacks brought it on themselves.
