The clinique skin care system stopped working well because you need to "move up" a level in the clarifying lotion! (step 2)! I didn't know about this either until I went to a counter and complained - after a year of using type 2 for step 2, it stopped working. The ladies explained that after a year you "move up". So after a year at level 2, I moved to level 3 which I used for a year. I have just started level 4. So try that? (you only do it with the astringent).
