I also first heard this song on the Original Sound of the Twenties! I recently obtained a vinyl copy (with wonderful picture book) and I'm currently scouring Ytube to see what's not included from that collection. What a treat to see the original 78. Thanks!
@DogTotem It is just a priceless album, so well done. Wish I had gotten one when the getting was good! Nothing can beat the 78, though! Another one I'd like to have from that set is Sophie Tucker's red hot version of My Pet backed up by the jazz orchestra!
I don't think I ever saw that. I did see Some Like it Hot, 'tho. What I've noticed is when 20's music is called for in a movie of that period, the music usually sounds like whatever was popular at the time the movie was made. Or in the case of Hush, Hush Sweet Charlotte ('27), Dixieland serves as a stand-in. Only recently have modern bands been able to do good re-creations of the period. My favorite is The Original Prague Syncopated Orchestra CD from 1994--it uses actual arrangements.

@JCJasion It certainly is! When it comes to formats, you still just cannot beat vinyl!

Blossom Sealey had a good singing voice.

@ronna3ba Thanks! I think she did too--and lots of enthusiasm. This was my first exposure to her singing and it's always been one of my favorites.
