  • Beam me up scotty... Which star trek episode is this on...

  • Turn off the radio? Illogical.

  • Susanna looks like "Holy Crap..."We're rocking with Spock!" :)

  • Nice guitars and hormonies by the girls here.

  • the bass player- Steele- gosh! she's stunning!

  • Upsiditus. the term UB40 (also the name of a UK band) is a name of an official form in the UK for Unemployment Benefits. ie out of a job and out of luck.

  • Is it just me or did Vicky almost trip over her shawl when she dances her way over to the other side of the screen at the very end.

  • Spockooo lol

  • Why is spock driving them around?

  • the guy looks a bit like arsene wenger !!

  • heh heh i love the extra element Nimoy gives as the dissenter about the validity of the song

  • @CorvusCorone68

hahahahaha I can not agree more.

I recognized Leonard Nimoy by his eyes --- not ears --- imediatelly.

Impressive how they let the super-intelligent Vulcan DISLIKE and TURN OFF their music publically --- is explains how stupid tthat girls are, and why the band ended.

Your comment is so exactly well-written and logic, which seems it is commented by Mr. Spock himself!

    Fascinating...

  • Leonard Nimoy can drive my taxi anyday.

  • Do these lyrics have any meaning?

  • Somebody tell me that The Bangles will reform!!!!!

  • @fairziff Your wish is granted: ww w.contactmusic.c om/news/the-bangles-sign-comeback-deal_1227033

  • @phiction8

    Thanks for the link.

    There is a God :)

  • I'd shag all of them except spock cos i ain't a puff, just think it necessary that i share this information with you.

  • He directed the 1985 music video for The Bangles' "Going Down to Liverpool". He makes a brief cameo appearance in the video as their driver. This came about because his son Adam Nimoy was a friend of Bangles lead singer Susanna Hoffs from college. See wikipedia on Leonard_Nimoy

  • Yes, Leonard Nimoy, that's Susanna Hoffs and she's quite a dish. Now put your eyes back on the road and let the viewers drool over her.

  • Shame it just missed the Top 40 in Britain. It's such a great song. Would have been lovely to actually see them in front of the Liver Building dancing away!

  • I am going down to Liverpool & do nothing..... ahh!

  • So, does Leonard charge by the minute or how far we go? ;)

  • I love this song so much and Michael is the best Bangle

  • They were the best all-women band back in the day--that I know about! I think the Go Go's, the first and best all-women band that I knew about, had already broken up! Bobbyk

  • @bobby7771117 the runaways were the first all woman band they were harder rock than either go-go's or the bangles

  • Damn those are four beautiful and talented chicks. And Leonard is just plain cool.

  • @xramcam Way,I drop my jaw everytime!

  • 20 people still have a UB40.

  • best tune they did by far. great vid. vids of the past make the new expensive ones look like sh!t.\

  • don't go to liverpool, it's shit.

  • OMG... she fell in the puddle @ 2:29.

  • my favourite bangles song and best use of the phrase ub40 ever in pop

  • coming from someone from leeds what a shithole leeds is ,very backward people still living in the 70,s liverpool superb son you should try it

  • Liverpool and nothing sums it up

  • 20 fools didn't see Star Trek

  • Golliwogg APPROVES of this song.

  • Fabulous song.

  • whole lotta female to female flesh in the back seat of that Morris ! ! ! ! if thats their idea of nothing , wow! ! !

  • Great song!

  • What is Mr. Spock doing with the Bangles??

  • @kljMN2

    Whatever he damn well pleases.:)

  • Spock!!

  • I don't remember both the Peterson sisters looking as butch as this. I guess I must have been too busy gawping at Susanna.

  • Ahhhhh, good old Leonard Nimoy!!!!

  • Michael Steel makes Sophie Loren look like a man.

  • I think the blonde's name is Debbie? Was this her only turn as lead vocalist? Seems like Susanna sang lead on every single song.

  • @kljMN2 She also sang lead on other songs: “Be with you” (Last radio hit by the Bangles although only reached top 30 I believe),… and also early Bangles: “I’m in Line” among others. It was the record label who decided to release mostly Hoffs’ vocals.

  • I think both versions are great! I think after this song the driver joined the Star fleet's USS Enterprise to become Mr. Spock!

  • I think both versions of this song are great! The Bangles and Katrina and the Waves!

  • Did none of them trust Spock enough to ride shotgun?

  • I think this video is too subtle for some to realize...

  • Katrina and The Waves wit Kimberley is the best version by far. The Bangles perform well, but this video sucks ass. Dammit Jim, I'm a Science Officer, not a taxi driver.

  • Leonard Nimoy - girl band chauffeur by day, first officer of the Enterprise by night.

  • @mackeymkay Highly illogical.

  • God Micki Steele is HOT!!!!

  • @xramcam

Michael Steele is the Goddess to all things that are hot. There is none higher.

  • @MelvinNurblin Totally agree, although I think they're all hot (except Susanna Hoffs, who just THINKS she's hot). And they were 10 times more talented than the Go-Go's.

  • @xramcam fuck yeah, she is. bass player and guitar player= very fucking hot.

  • i plan to go to liverpool to the cavern

  • lo mejor, el director del video :)

  • hey! Mr. Spock! pinch them!

  • spock is there

  • Vastly under rated. Bangles got it going on.

  • like the zing thing...in htis song.....

  • Michael Steele is just stunning.

  • This song is highly logical. I must try to meld with it.

  • At first, I thought it was Lou Reed... but after the guy at the begining of the video took off his glasses, I realized he was Leonard Nimoy :D

  • @RicardoKooh

me too. everyone thought it was Lou Reed.

  • first time Ive seen this...cool

  • Stop hogging the radio Spock you are outnumbered and mind melding doesn't work in Liverpool!

  • Isn't that guy the Mr Spok one? O_O

  • @KuhariSensei Yup it is. :)

This was one of ten "fascinating facts" IMDB posted today to celebrate Leonard Nimoy's 80th birthday "He stepped behind the camera in 1985 to direct a music video for The Bangles - Going Down To Liverpool promo [which] also featured a brief cameo appearance from the actor, whose son Adam went to college with the band's lead singer Susanna Hoffs."

  • Here's one lucky Vulcan, if he only knew it. I'd attempt some type of meld, mind or otherwise, with a Horta, or perhaps a hooter or two. But then again, Spock has no emotion - poor guy. Kinda like a bunch of girls walking into a gay bar.

  • I love the Bangles. I don't think this video is unimaginative. The shadows on the ceiling in the tunnel is a great shot. Maybe it is you TheoIsTheGreatest who is unimaginative? You obviously think you are the greatest. Maybe not.....

  • In all my life, I never even knew that there was a video for this song. Love the Bangles. Thanks for the upload

  • i know the lyrics, every where are written as "hey now', but in my heart I always sing Hey, La. So much more Liverpool :)

  • Michael Steele = dreamy nice in this video.

  • @gkctex You bet chur arse!! If she doesn't define cute in this video, I don't know what does. She was the quiet & hot Beatle/Bangle. That's not to take away anything from Susannah, of course!

  • I went down to Liverpool and did nothing for three years, cos I was a student there. Great times.

  • I like Leonard in this one

  • I used to LOVE this song when I was a kid

  • The original version written and performed by Kimberley Rew of Katrina and The Waves is far superior to the Bangles rendition.

  • Go Spock

  • Sigh. Leonard Nimoy cannot save this boring and unimaginative video.

  • @mjn76 he directed it. >_>

  • @mjn76 Nimoy directed it, you nincompoop.

  • @TheoIsTheGreatest Even if Nimoy directed it, that doesn't change the fact that it's extremely boring and unimaginative.

  • @mjn76

    I can not agree more.

heh heh i love the extra element Nimoy gives as the dissenter about the validity of the song

Impressive how they let the super-intelligent Vulcan DISLIKE and TURN OFF their music publically --- is explains how stupid that girls are, and why the band ended.

  • A VERY cool and catchy song. This song shows not only the musically interpretive skills of The Bangles but also their stellar voices. Not to mention the fact that they're, well, just beautiful women.

  • 19 people are not Going Down To Liverpool

  • Comment removed

  • Spock Rocks!

  • All those years and we find out Spock had daughters - who knew !

  • Susanna would've made an awesome Vulcan!

  • haha spock

  • Love this song and love this video. ...it may not be the most exciting video but it captures some beautiful pictures of the Bangles...simple and sweet.

  • boring ride.....boring video

  • i'm from liverpool....susanne hoffs...can come down to liverpool anytime....but we won't be doing nothing

  • down to liverpool from where? newcastle?

  • @PokerPlum Hah! It might be... since the drive is on the right side and the tunnel looks rather more like the Detroit-Windsor (Windsor is a city in Ontario in the mythical country in fancy called 'Canada') Tunnel than either the Queensway or the Kindgway Tunnels...

  • Ha ha have any of you lot been to Liverpool ?

  • Was this from 1984? My sister got The Bangles' "All Over the Place" cassette tape some years after it originally came out, probably in the late 80s; I haven't heard this for years but I love it!

  • @stromssa This song came off the hard o find album "All Over The Place." I made sure to buy one or two CD's of it myself, just to be sure.

  • OMG, has anyone seen Susanna Hoffs lately??? She got even HOTTER with age!! An absolutely beautiful woman with great talent.

  • @InvalidUsername1323 These gals are about my age. I must say when they were on MTV in the '80s I only had tunnel vision for Susanna. And, yes, life seems to have treated her very nicely. I like reading the comments how a lot have the hots for Michael. And when I review the situation over 20 some years later I tend to agree.

  • Mr. Spock was listening to this song so that he play this song the next time he jammed with the space hippies

  • Why Spock? Why inside a car? Great tune. Terrible video!

  • Terrific song about a terrific city. Pure fun pop music.

  • I go to Liverpool every day to do my work. Then I go home to do nothing. That's just my way, though.

  • Nice tune and funny video. Too "emotional" for Spock? !! A few poses of Albert Dock or Penny Lane would have enhanced it! Anyone know WHEN Bangles did this?

  • Nice tune and funny video. Too "emotional" for Spock? !! A few poses of Albert Dock or Penny Lane would have enhanced it! Anyone know WHEN they Bangles did this?

  • Well i doubt that i make it to Liverpool, but i got the "do nothing for the rest of my life" down to a science :)

  • i think the waves version was better, interesting that both bands had to play down the guitars to get a hit the bangles with the atrocious manic monday and the waves with that horrible remake of walking on sunshine. sineaid o connor also could only have a hit with the nauseating nothing compares to u. compare that to her ultra kool Mandinka with that unforgettable guitar riff. America is a really fucked up country. divinyls also made it with a shitty song.

  • @hellonyhello I suppose if the Divinyls also made it a shitty song then Australia must also be a "reallt fucked up country"... The US and Australia... if I didn't know better, I'd say SOMEONE was quite upset that both of those countries have warm weather and palm trees, but I'm SURE you mean "deep down, they are awful places"

  • Excellent song, but turning it off half way through the clip was a crap idea

  • Lucky Leonard.

  • Great song, but there's something disturbing about this video -- a sense of impending doom.

  • as trekker and a bangles fan,what a combination,spock to scotty 4 to beam up,to my quarters

  • @scottsweeney1967 Make that 5 i'm beaming up with them

  • I actually made an overnight trip to Liverpool during my visit to England thanks to this song. I had it running through my head for the better part of a year (loved this album) and just on a whim headed up there. A little down on its heels at the time, but I still had a fun little trip.

  • This music clip fails on every level.

  • This track needs to be renamed to liverpool are going down

  • Mr. Spock, drive us to Liverpool won't you? Warp speed. And avoid the Klingons dammit !

  • Ilove leonard nimoy as actor anda as the director of this video.....nimoy and spock forever!!

  • i love leonard nimoy!!!!!!!

  • brilliant song!!! love it!!!

  • The boredom of being unemployed in the 80s; the song catches it and the video really shows the ennui back then, all dressed up and bored and no money to do anything with or going anywhere. Loved it.

  • ok Kimberley from Katrina and the waves wrote this song, suffering from writers block she upped sticks and headed to Liverpool to to "do nothing". this allowed her to clear her head as she said....

  • @matt36mc however the writer, Kimberley Rew is male :)

  • @crashsite000 For some great power pop check out Kimberley Rew's "Bible of Bop" EP which he did pre- Katrina and the Waves, some great stuff on there too.

  • @matt36mc 'scuse me but the last time and every time I've seen Kimberly he was a BLOKE.

    Tosh

  • @matt36mc I thought Prince wrote this song.

  • @Fredje9875 Prince just wrote Manic Monday for them.

  • Nimoy was right to let them out of the car. More posing from the neck up than most people are capable of with all parts in play.

  • takes me back to a sertain summer in paris thanks

  • katie mulia looks like s.hoffs, both cuties lol

  • @scottsweeney1967 she does a bit

  • I love this song by The Bangles. They all look nice but Susanna looks sooo cute. Her hair looks so nice short and her outfit kicks ass lol

  • Debbie, Vicki, & Susanna look like a bunch of vampires after Nimoy in this vid. Michael looks, well, a little shy and embarrassed. I like shy and embarrassed.

  • @PokerPlum - Is it definitely about Liverpool, England?

  • @ClareH29

Yes. The "UB40" pretty much indicates such.

  • @LTF6161 Ah I see. So they're talking about unemployment back in the 80's then and the boredom involved. I don't remember people or Liverpool being that way as was only a kid then.

  • @ClareH29

Well, the Bangles didn't write the song. I think a Brit w/ Katrina & the Waves did. I think the Bangles were just looking to play a cool tune. I was in Northern & Central England for two weeks in 1987 and had a blast pub crawling. I certainly wasn't bored.

  • @LTF6161 Ha ha bet you had a laugh! That makes sense now that a Brit wrote it as was wondering how they'd be aware of UB40's. Like UB40 the group too.

  • I love this song! It's very unique and I like all those pretty vocals!

  • NIMOYY!!

  • kinda insulting for scousers no? least take a trip to anfield while youre there girls

  • Stop being a dick, Spock!

  • PATRONISING PRICKS.

  • Yet another incredible look for Mikki, I swear she could look wonderful with any style, and is still gorgeous even past 50.

  • Yet another incredible look for Mikki, I swear she could look wonderful with any style, and is still gorgeous even past 50.

  • Absolutely love the Bangels and love Leonard Nimoy! where you goin' with that UB40 in your hand? This bring back memories of the summer of '84!

  • michelle steel and the guitarist are goddesses. end of story.

  • This is my favorite Bangles song but I hate this video. Debbie sings lead on this but the camera is constantly on Susannah's face doing back up vocals. It's so annoying. Poor Debbie is placed behind Susannah in the car so that her face is behind Susannah's shoulder and when she's singing the verse, Susannah's face is in front doing back-up. Honestly, why even have the other girls in the video? Just have Susannah alone in the car so the entire clip is a close up of her. LOL

  • It's a song about England... they could have used a right-hand-drive car!

Cracking song, not long enough by far, I could listen to that guitar for aaages :o)

  • is that doctor spock?, love this song its mint!

  • can anybody tell me why micheal steel isn't with the group anymore?

  • @1funkyangel She's weird.

  • @hilljayne Oh really??? so how is she weird????

  • @mrtamberineman123 Left a successful band for obscurity.

  • Such a boring song from a boring band........

  • @hilljayne stfu

  • @IIIIdepechemodeIIII Make me!

  • @hilljayne make me make you, jig a boo! lmao
