Frankly this is one of the most stunning covers ever performed. You don't see others trying it either because it is complex and should not be done without justice. This assemblage brought it. (I've learned that there are a group of master musicians taking on Mahavishnu Orchestra compositions, and it took decades for that to arrive)
What these guys say to me: why do something unless you do it well. "Well" isn't even close. This is astonishing. Obviously I need to wander over to their Tarkus too.
The show was a benefit to raise funds for a new grand piano for-&-at a Unitarian Universalist church in Jacksonville Fl. I think they ended up with a Mason & Hamlin (one of my personal favorites).
The group all went to music school together. Richard (on bass) & I've been friends since high school... Take a Pebble was added with minimal rehearsal (two actually); Tarkus (related video) was put together during the course of eight rehearsals.
I thought the timing was perfectamundo. There were several places where I expected an amateurish rushing of the next bar - but this gifted pianist (and each) were reverentially patient - to great effect.

After the gong blow it looks like it's raining? This is indoors, right?
I would like to know more about this performance and the performers.
I have to express my amazement, all around, and particularly for the pianist. And no compromises on the vocals!

Great job on a great song.

The only critique I can possibly make (as this was a great performance) is that it's a bit modest.
ELP rocked out more. More improvisation and more showing off their respective instrumental talents (Emerson especially on this piece).
