Not a lot of jumping around funky rock, even the more upbeat songs are very understated compared to, say, Blood Sugar Sex Magik or Californication, let alone something like Mother's Milk (in that era, they had nothing like this). Its John's best work and it shows that something as simple as his guitar playing can be so beautiful. This is a very mellow album .The scenery Anthony paints in the way he sings, you can see it.

Lets admit things. 1) The band died when they released Blood Sugar Sex Magik. They sold out horribly. The nail to the coffin was when they performed socks on their cocks in the late 90's and "felt weird" or something like that said by Kiedis. 2) Frusciante was never a chili pepper.
