Nonstop listening to Opus Eponymous. Amazing. Do yourself a favor, get it, put headphones on, take it all in. Sinister, diabolic, beautiful, romantic, and it's about time.
a little bit of everything in this band. hints of king diamond and old blue oyster cult. cd sounds like it was made in the early 70s, thin rythm guitar sound like witchcraft, crafty riffs and fresh ideas with a feel that any doom fan can dig, had no idea the live shows would look like this...instant fan, how can you not like this band?
"OPUS EPONYMOUS" is far and away THE best Metal album of 2010....sinister, macabre, melodic and theatrical. They and THE DEVIL'S BLOOD are spreading the word (subtly) of our Mother/Creator/Destroyer who has been denounced from the time of the Babylonians....Hell, these masculine dominated Religions have even changed her sex so that these mysoginist pigs can have a more "worthy" adversary and called Her Satan/Lucifer forcing the so-called Satanists to hide behind a mask to combat lies with TRUTH.
Read a rumour that it's the Marvel guys who are behind the masks. Apparently they have alot in common, citing from their facebook page: Ghost hide their faces due to bad acne - just like Marvel; Ghost was put on piedestal by norweigan metal lord - Marvel also; Ghost are not 30 years old - just like Marvel. Ghost is from Åtvidaberg - Marvel is famous for this.
Pity your camera's sound started to f#ck up when the keyboards kick in (the best bit). This is my song of the year for 2020. This album blows my balls off!!
Was this their first or second performance? Incredible stuff nontheless- if someone hade described to me "Satanic Doom-Pop" I would have told them that no such sub-genre exists! Well...it does now!
wow! hehe. can't believe Kylesa got an 8 outta 10 in Terrorizer mag, while these guys got a 9 for their album. the sad shape of contemporary metal.. once, Gene Simmons sued King Diamond and forced him to change his make-up; maybe it's time for the King to get even! to my ears, these guys come across as a low-key mix of Mercyful Fate and BÖC's poppier stuff. it's OK, it's spinal-tapish fun, but certainly NOT the future of rocknroll... you can throw ABBA into the mix, btw!
@dadov my good friend, you might be right... i gotta admit that i've been sinking my teeth into their album, slowly but surely... however, i think they might be better live... what I DO like is a certain druggy vibe of theirs, don't know if assumed or unassumed. that's why i thought of BÖC.. but i think they still need some time to develop as musicianas. only time will tell, but they might be on to semothing. cheers!
@cangong They might need time to develop as a band, but not as musicians since they're all in other bands, althought that's secret shit that they dont let others know off.
@dadov hey, dude! i think you're making a convert out of me haha! (now I know who you are: considering this is 'satanic' music, i'm willing to bet you're none other than good ole Satan).. No, seriously, yesterday I was listening to their album again and was blown away by some bits that reminded me of classic Alice Cooper (70's era) and even Voivod, plus some 80's Mexican prog rock (which is good, mind you). It's a grower, though I still wouldn't call it album of the year. yeah!
This is good stuff. I read an interview with them in this month's Terrorizer magazine and also was intrigued with the album cover. I may have to buy "Opus Eponymous".
@Watchmaker9 They say you can't judge a book by its cover but you can damn well be sure to judge a band by its album cover. I bought this on the cover alone having never even heard them. One of the best music related investments I've ever made.
