tommy vance was a great dj who's sadly missed when it came down to it he know his stuff about music then like john peel did another great dj who is sadly missed thanks for posting these charts there great the days when the charts were worth listening to not like now the charts are rubbish
This is the proper way to do a chart rundown.Todays charts are ruined by Reggie Yeats prattling on about podcasts, live lounges, emailing and texting and about a million other things unrelated to the chart rundown.
I dont know who is responsable for these music vids but briliant and hats off to him. Any chance off geting midyear ones rather than just the best off for each year. Would be great to hear some great obscure stuff
Tommy Vance was IMHO the greatest presenter of the Top 40 Chart in his two-year tenure from 10th January 1982 to New Year's Day 1984. One of THE legends of pop/rock radio.
I believe that Tom was in the British Army .Then got involved with BFBS. a BROADCASTING ARM OF THE bbc. to the Brish Forces. Ended Up Doing A really Bad job of the Top 40. It is an exceptionally hard gig to do though. Especially Live On Air. I Know. :)
Music from this Era quite good too. Thanks for Posting
If only you had the strength to hold down the shift key for the final letter... not a bad effort though. I'd certainly be proud of myself if it took me a month to come up with that! You go girl!
@fntime; sadly, Tommy died of a stroke in 2005 - please show some respect. Tommy lived in the US in the early 1960's and this was where he was trained as the real Tommy Vance failed to show for his radio show. Tommy then returned to the UK due to the Vietnam war. Tommy was a highly respected broadcaster in the radio industry. When you say that you admire yourself for being American, perhaps you should be proud that Tommy was trained in your country.
nick, a lot people died since 2005, and I bet almost all of them would have been a better dj than Tommy. Please, don't tell me how to think or feel, that approach only works with Europeans who neither think nor feel. As I said in my original post, he sounds like an American dj, which is not a compliment, America has no business training any dj, because American dj's suck, and unless he is a member of your family or a personal friend, you have no business defending a 'hack'!

Sounds like a genuine "medium wave" recording which is how it should sound!

@qatopboy
I feel your pain, and therefore have decided
to end it all.
I have made my decision based solley on
your unbreakable faith in the button pushing
skills of HRH Mr T Vance.
I dont know what "Moyles" is but as i am soon
to die, i don't care.

The Dj, SUCKS, just like American dj's,
it's kind of funny hearing 'brits' talk with the
same persona, of American dj's.
Should put this in a time capsule, along
with ifedthehorse, 2 examples of ignorance and stupidity, that need to be
cataloged.
Why is it, when I talk to 'brits' I admire myself for being an 'American". Brits, unfortunately, I think, are dumber than us
Americans, it's hard to believe but TRUE!.
fntime 2 years ago
Why are you so inconsistent with your quotes around Brits and Americans? Why even put quotes around them at all?
Brits trying to speak like an American = sounds like a lawyer. Um, yeah. Trolling FAIL.
