  • J'avais l'habitude de pleurer avec cette belle chanson T_T

  • Me trae muchos recuerdos esta canción, algunos buenos y otros malos, pero de todas formas es un temazo :)

  • LMAO @5:15 there's one guy in the audience who knows what's about to happen.

  • just amazing. they played this at graspop 2011 too. it was so amazing

  • Mikael Åkerfeldt is the fucking shit. He has lost alot of weight recently, lol.

  • Thumbs up if you was here too

  • @ 2:52 This is when no-one will butter!

  • I miss peter lindgren...

  • mee too :'(

  • Gonna See These Guys in 1 week in Tempe, AZ I CAN't Fucking Wait!!!

  • Great song a masterpiece as any opeth song!!!!!!

    P.D . I need 1137 beers and 5 bullets!

  • @magugreech There are more likes now, but still 5 dislikes. I guess potential dislikers just freaking scared :D

  • Opeth...if you don't like.... F.O.A.D. ! Hail to metalheads from Brasil!

  • 5 people never saw face of melinda :s sad..

  • Dunno how anyone could dislike this masterpiece.

  • The five people who dislikes this, never had the chance to see the face of melinda :)

  • The five people dislikes, never had the chance to see the face of melinda :)

  • the most beautiful song I've ever heard, i personally think it's better than studio version.

but, shit, there's no 9:00 xD

  • @outsiderperro agree, in fact most of their songs is even better live. Strange but very true

  • I was the guy in the black shirt.

  • @RyanEYE That really narrows it down guy.

  • @RyanEYE oh yeah, long hair too right?

  • @RyanEYE Which one, the one with long hair?

  • what's Rusty Cooley doing on backup guitar? ;)

  • Hey have they got a new guitarist?, the skinny dude on the far left has either grown black hair and gotten fatter lately, or they have replaced him haha.

  • @guitdude09 Yeah Lindgren left the band, unfortunately :(

  • @SomethingWild9608 thanks man, they still sound awesome though haha.

  • I love this band!! its my favourite one!!, when you listen Opeth understand and remember that music is the meaning for life!!!

  • Dunno who the fuck Melinda is......but thx for this awesome song...... :).

  • @stjoanou if you dont like Opeth why are u here?

  • "Come away Melinda" is a song by the band Uriah Heep. Mikael stole (some say borrowed) the name/concept from them then named his dirty little hippie daughter it in 2004, Faggots.

  • @stjoanou Now I'm curious. Elaborate on your reply. I've listened to both songs and they're both very different. Is it possible that you've misinterpreted the lyrics in a fit of prejudice (as you'd presumably heard come away melinda before you had heard face of melinda) and ended up performing the dreaded act of character assassination?

  • @stjoanou yeah once upon a time this mikael sat where and listened to 'come away melinde' and made the following masterplan: make a child, call her melinda and this way steal the concept for face of melinda with no one noticing it. (?!?!?!) *facepalm*

but u noticed that the lyrics aint got anything to do with each other?!

  • just watching a few seconds of this i can alreadry tell this has better pictures than the albert hall dvd...

    which i own..

    and is awesome...

  • Words typed in a comment box cannot describe.... my love for Opeth. One song and i was hooked. this is my crack... and if i don't get my fix for at least two hours a day, i explode. just ask my EX-wife...Benighted for life!

  • Every time i listen to Opeth, i get shivers down my spine.. thats a good thing right?

  • 5 people got ear-fucked. :/

    Only logical explanation

  • LOL at 8:09

  • mikeal wrote this song for his daughter

she is so lucky to hear that 9 minutes song before she's going to sleep :)

  • @rockkid187 His daughter is named after this song she was born in 2001

  • @skateking1022 oh,that i didn't know haha

  • @rockkid187 actually he wrote the song first and he has story in mind about girl named Melinda. when his wife gave birth to a girl he called her after this song :)

  • @sunnylee84 well, his girl still lucky to have mikael as her father :D

  • @rockkid187 nope, song was written first

  • This song is epic and I mean it in the real, trivial sense of the word.

  • Guys cut the crap dream theater is good opeth is good so what's your problem Dream theater composes their music in a prog/heavy while opeth remains a death/prog Act so there's no chance to compare

  • metal fans can be fucking stupid

  • @MrIndustrialWater as the rest population of this planet

  • @dzo66 I actually meant to cancel this comment upon realizing what i was really saying. Guess i did'nt.

It just pisses me off, that every concert there has to be people yelling stupid shit and clapping along(hopelessly off-beat i might add) during the quieter sections. I just wish these people would stay at home.

  • @MrIndustrialWater ok i just interpreted your comment as you were justin bieber fan, who means that metal fans are fucked up etc. About clapping.. i think it's just everyone's personal taste, i like it :D

  • @MrIndustrialWater It's alright in my opinion, but it's annoying when it's off-beat. Distracting for the band as well. Sometimes it makes me wonder how people can have such a bad sense of timing.

  • @SwedishBerzerker What annoys me the most about it, is that it makes it hard to hear the gentle textures which is hard enough in the first place at most shows. Clapping along is fine at some parts, but during the mellow parts i don't get it, i just want to enjoy the sounds.

  • @MrIndustrialWater I hear you, but I've heard the song so many times it doesn't matter ;)

  • The ending riff makes me jizz, it's fucking great

  • Yes! I am the 1000th like!

  • guy at 8:04 that try to jump to the stage does what i really would do if i was there.

  • great ghost notes

  • choose for the record, Mikael has 2 daughters, and the name of one is Melinda

  • 7:43

  • how could you even think about disliking this song?

  • @421Roger Thought Process: "No death metal growls, thumbs down..."

Some Metal fans are so close-minded, its ridiculous...

  • Totally agree

  • 5 justin bieber fans*

  • 5 assholes

  • OMG 8:01 MIKAEL DOES THE PELVIC THRUST TO HIS GUITAR :O

  • Dream Theater is Gay, Overrated. And all their fans are Zealots. Opeth is Amazing.

  • @FAJIG To say you don't like Dream Theater is fine, but to call them is gay is very close minded. It may not be your preference, but either way, they are still all incredibly talented, as are the members of Opeth. In my opinion, Dream Theater and Opeth are both fantastic...

  • @FAJIG Calling Dream Theater gay and overrated, and insulting their fans is quite ignorant... Many Opeth fans are DT fans as well, and metal is a brotherhood. Unfortunately people who listen to good music are not common, and it is important for us that we respect other metalheads' tastes.

  • @Niamorg1007 The Dream Theater vs Opeth war in the Youtube Commentary section never made a lick of sense to me.

Yeah, they're both Progressive and they started putting out music around the same time period... but they are two completely different styles of Progressive Metal. Opeth uses metal growling heavily while DT is all clean vocals, and they don't even have a rhythm guitarist.

For Christ's sake, might as well compare The Beatles and Cannibal Corpse while you're at it...

  • @CrackeTheSkull Are you refering to me? Because I was actually saying that dissing DT because you like Opeth is stupid, and that these arguments must stop. Plus , I didn't compare them

  • @Niamorg1007 No, I wasn't referring to you. You're clearly one of the people who realizes how silly it is. I was just stating that in general in response to your comment.

  • @CrackeTheSkull Oh, my bad! Yeah I definitly agree with you, comparing two bands is stupid, even when they are both labelled identically (in this case, progressive). I personally love both bands equally.

  • I have sex with my girlfriend on this song, this one, closure, and porcelain heart, but this song we use most often !!

  • @MetalTerror666

    good to know..

  • this song is about having sex with men.

  • @bumzurvaj this song is about his daughter you shithead

  • @DocJoe4209981 Gross, why the hell would he do that to his daughter?

  • @DocJoe4209981 No it's not, he named his daughter after the song... and the song is about a man who everyone believed dead "stalking" his ex-fiance, who became a nun after she found out about the supposed dead of this guy.

  • @DocJoe4209981 its a concept album; this is when the protagonist returns to his beloved Melinda.

  • @DocJoe4209981 His daughter was named after this song you shithead, Still Life was released in 1999. Melinda was born in 2004.

  • Martin Mendez is such an inspiration to me when I'm playing bass...

  • So many bands are shit live, but Opeth always sounds just as amazing live as they do on their albums

  • @Toxxic88

To be correct, Opeth sounds BETTER live then on the albums. The albums are always to much going on with like 5 guitars, live they keep it simple with 2 guitars and awesome\m/

  • So Fucking Amazing, I love this band!!!!!!!!! Atte. Jacqueline Akerfeldt =P

  • i think the best part is from 0.00-9.01!!!!!!!

  • I love the guy who yelled "YEAH" at 5:12, knowing that the heavy transition chord was coming.

  • @CrackeTheSkull

Hah, me too. But I bet there isn't a single soul in that building who doesn't know that it is, and when it is coming ;)

  • @CrackeTheSkull For sure. The best yell ever in an concert by the public

  • 0:23 LMAO lone legend :P

  • fuck the 4 dislikers!

  • @MrPeterhippie Dont worry. They just missclicked the "Like" button while jizzing in their pants.

  • roughly ten years ago, this song made me dislike opeth.

Now a days its one of my favorite songs to listen to

  • this bands sounds is so deep and endless, fucking incredible

  • I just fucking adore the outro of this song, brings me to tears even after hearing it a long time ago... it's just amazing on the recorded version and it's even better here and i-OH FUCK *orgasm*

  • yeah right

  • @ismikael ??

  • ooooo myy godd!!!!

  • I love how Opeth has such a broad artistic range. So many bands either sound exactly like each other or all of their songs sound the same, but not these guys. They are truly unique. I swear, I haven't found a song by them that I don't like.

  • @jessie62990 yea man, i feel the same way about them. you should listen to Porcupine Tree if you haven't yet. Their lead composer Steven Wilson is Mikael's good friend, so it promises deep, entracing mystical music ;)

  • Perfection <3

  • Orgasm...7:42

  • hasn't anyone noticed yet how incredibly fitting the scream from someone in the audience at 5:12 is? :D <3 opeth

  • Comment removed

  • Fantastic "cool attitude"!!!

  • the rythm variation at 8:20 is orgasmic

  • wow...is all that can be said lol

  • OPErfection :D 4 people was so exited hearing this song and they press the wrong button

  • Anybody else hear the guy scream "Take it off" at the beginning?

  • masters fucking song..........

  • This song gives me goosebumps. Every time... particularly around 5:20 here (around 4:30-5 in the studio version)... you all know the part I'm referring to... It's such an amazing and unparalleled sound. <3

  • man.. that outro.. i already liked it on the studioversion but this just blew my fucking mind.. amazing..

  • Opeth Orgasm at 0:05

  • I just can't get enough to this... It's simply perfect...

  • i wish i grow up to be a great musician like the ones on opeth...they can go to the heaviest things to the more soft and calm songs...i think that more than pleasing the fans they have the freedom to do what they want musically..and when they do them...they do them right kudos to opeth...most diverse and innovative band ever!

  • A masterpiece to enjoy my Old Milwaukee.....

  • I cant describe opeth's songs, SO much feeling. I want to see them live before I die.... and after death too....

  • @JimInFlames I saw them live a few weeks before this recording; they were talking about an upcoming recording, who new it would end up being as epic as Roundhouse Tapes is.

My advice: savour every damn moment when you get there. I've waited years and haven't yet had to the chance to see Opeth live. Counting down the days til they next tour. Whenever that is! :P

  • Opeth revived my love for heavy metal. I thought metal was over when Bruce left Maiden, Metallica released Load, Halford left Judas, new stuff was too weak and numetal oriented, and other things like that. But is good to know that geniuses like Mikael are still around.

  • @andrelias metal still has a chance with opeth

  • @andrelias Dude, I so agree with you. I gave up. Then one day about 6 years ago on a Yahoo online radio station, I heard my first Opeth song, Master's Apprentice. That changed EVERYTHING! I am born again anew in OPETH. Halaleuja, brother!

  • Interesting combination. Jazz & Metal. Really nice.

  • @nebojsa0106 u mite like Cynic they have that combonation to

  • @phreestylesk8r Thank you very much. Prog metal + death + jazz, a little bit of power. Really nice, I never heard about them, but I'll pay attention on this band. Whether they recorded some albums?

  • @nebojsa0106 ur wlecome! good opeth albums are pretty much anything but my favorites ae still life and watershed, and cynic has only two albums and an ep and theyr perfect from start to finish and worth buying! ha

  • man.. 4 people disliked this video.. that's 4 people too much

  • @joelism1989 they are surely deaf people...

  • Love the phaser on the guitars.

  • Video hasn't started yet and I thumbed it up.

  • @matzchase isnt that what people usually do on an opeth video? :P

  • I never really gave this song a chance until I was watching this DVD (which I had for a long time) and it suddenly just clicked.

  • Творчество Opeth это во многом творческая переработка материала других групп периода 70-х годов прошлого столетия и эта песня очередное тому подтверждение.

  • @ivango2006 Thank you Google Translate. And yes, you are absolutely right there was a psychadelic band I found that Opeth had payed tribute too with ALOT of things. Can't remember their name right now. The baying of the hounds for example was a line in a song by them. I think that it's cool that they do this.

  • im not a huge fan of the still life album, but this song demonstrates opeths amazing ability to flawlessly link mellow jazz music with more upbeat prog metal. in a nutshell, Opeth are gods on earth

  • @Bangers2829 thats exactly what i wanted to write...

i first bought me the roundhouse tapes dvd and listened to it.

directly fell in massive love with face of melinda and bought the

still life album, but got a bit dissappointed because on

the roundhouse tapes the song sounds sooo much better.

  • @Darnokth Guys, really u said it all,,cut and dry,,i couldnt agree more.

  • 1:06 the image in the back of the concert is sick...bloody but very sad

  • best band ever....

  • Every track of Opeth is like a short story in itself...A really good short story... Love it when the accentuation is dead on accurate and is at the place where its sposed to be at..

  • i was there, it was fucking colossal

  • all those ridiculous morons trying to headbang to the mainrif and showing their devil horns xD

  • @Metalwurst666 the song gets heavier

  • Words fail me. This song (and opeth in general) is just so goddamn EPIC

  • Words fail me. Sing song (and opeth in general) is just so goddamn epic

  • i remember the first time i heard this song. it was a few days ago and from the second i heard 5:30 i knew that this was the best song ever!

  • this performance is better than the studio version!

  • @Pierfunkbass Totally agree. There's also a video of them playing "When" but not from this show, that I also think is better than the studio version. It's on the list to the right, a bit lower.

  • sometimes I like to get away from the faster material of Opeth (the death metal side) and just listen to their slower stuff...Opeth is just not one band they also have a whole different side to them. They are just so diverse and I think that's why they're just fucking amazing

  • Ugh, I just love Opeth so much.

  • Favourite album.

  • opeth = a reason to stay alive on this shit world!

  • @heihatchios :S

  • I love this song, and album. It's so beautiful. It creates such vivid imagery in my mind... one of my next art projects I hope, is to draw Melinda. I can picture what she looks like... The face of Melinda with blackened hair... No joy would flicker in her eyes... Brooding sadness came to a rise.

    I adore Opeth. ♥

  • pufff 5:20 Orgasmic mental moment :P!

  • i'm really jealous of those who listen to this song for first time!!and the reason is 5:30!!nothing like the first time! O_O

  • Comment removed

  • @funk55558 there really isn't

  • FUCKIN HELL RIFF.... 5:30

  • favorite opeth song.

  • dianaipomar, fuck you they kick ass i bought this dvd and you can suck my balls!

  • @AngelofDeth82 i dont think dianaipomar said anything bad about opeth

i think they were talking about people who say opeth and other prog metal arent talented
