  • Ever visited the location? Frankly, Kanne was the least important bridge... The bridges of Vroenhoven and Veldwezelt were far more important... They were seized intact by German glider troops.

I know what I'm talking about, because I'm a guide at the fort of Eben-Emael...

  • I welcome your input. Do you have any pictures of the old Kanne bridge?

Because the Germans failed at Kanne is why I'm making the short "film". Of course, if the Kanne crossing isn't effected the troops assaulting Eben-Emael could not be relieved/reinforced and the Germans cannot push across, advancing on a wide front as they hoped (with 4th Panzer Division - I think); making the Allies believe that once again the von Schleiffen Plan was being executed.

    Thanks for the response!

  • Well, certain ground units managed to cross the Albert Canal near the destroyed bridge of Kanne, but they received a lot of resistance from the fortress (to be more specific: Canal Bunker North).

Could you send me your emailadress? I'll send you more information and pictures.

Do you also require 2007 footage on location?
