Man what has the music industry become when artists as talented as this go looked over by so many, but artists that have no talent, but look pretty are the ones making a living off the industry. Not only is there talent and intricacy, but there is a song there, there is something that Everyone that likes Every genre of music can appreciate and Jon should have much more recognition than he already does.

A lot of those people just want to listen to catchy generic tunes that are heavily based on vocals. :\

I was the same way a long time ago before I played anything and listened to typical radio bands. Never saw what was so great about a piece like this until becoming a musician

@emcitement I don't think it's a trained ear.. imo it's just some of us gain a different level of appreciation for music for what it really is, not just entertainment, but a form of art. A lot of musicians become obsessed with mastering a guitar just so they can play lightning fast. This guy's talent isn't just a party trick, he can actually write incredibly well. I think that's the difference between a musician.. and a seasoned musician... recognizing it as an art.

That's why people like Lady Gaga get to be so famous - they have people helping them and giving them gobs of money in order to 'custom-build' them to be the next big thing. Lady Gaga actually has monster chops and can compose really complicated stuff, but they focus on how she's weird and flamboyant. For the musicians, you got to make a living. How do you tune so low without fret buzz? Is it just because of the heavy strings? :)

@conormkelly Heavy strings will tune lower with the same tension. Idk if your particular guitar will buzz or not though. I did once experiment with putting .13 gauge flat wounds on my strat and it played in B standard with a comfortable tension. I see it as an interesting fix if you want baritone tuning on the cheap.

Are you using somekind of Michael Manring-esque 'hipshot' on the detuning of your B and E (G and Bb in your case) strings? @0:20 it looks as though it's completely manual, but the tuning pegs make me think that perhaps there's a device that's limiting the tuning somehow?
