Unfortunately, you cannot shave birds and expect them to re-feather. Feathers are not like hair. Feathers have 2 parts: the middle rachis (the "stick" part of the feather) and the fluffy barbs. The rachis grows first, then the barbs develop off of it. A broken rachis cannot regrow; the only way to get a new feather in its place is if the old rachis is naturally shed (or plucked).

Animals have become nothing but slaves to humans greed... what a very wicked world we live in.
It will only stop when each human stops buying products that line the pockets of the truly greedy.. blood money in their pockets, they derive pleasure from their position of power. This is why I just don't buy ANYTHING that has ANY KIND of feathers in it - not from dead animals and especially live !!!! The pain must be horrific for them ! And Lloyd I think we all know where our meat comes from, the doors that open to mass production for food, live transportation and slaughterhouses are no longer closed. There is no excuse for people not knowing but yet again - the DO YOU EAT MEAT thing is thrown at us ! It is not the issue here - another video - another page !

With all the genetic engineering going on these days, I have to wonder why someone hasn't yet come up with a goose that sheds an awful lot? Less cruelty to the goose, less work for the human, a better and happier time for everyone! AND I can have my nice comfy comforter without feeling guilty about it!

This makes me sick. I'm crying for these poor, innocent creatures. Will our species ever get a clue? I mean, even slaughtering them is more humane than this & even that isn't necessary in the world we live in today. At least for modern civilization. I had a pet goose years back. You'd be surprised at how intellegent they are. He was an affectionate little guy as well. No creature, intellegent or not, deserves this fate. We should look out for those with no voice of their own. It's so sad. :'(

I have no real issue with meat, feathers or useing animal skins. That being said, no animal should be made to suffer like this. Any process that causes this type of pain to an animal should be outlawed!

Plucking feathers off of a living bird is cruel and should at least wait until they have already been killed. I'm not disrespecting your opinion. I'm respectfully contradicting it.

It is far too profitable to pluck those feathers at least 2 - 3 times before they are actually killed, I think this way of treating animals is trully very very bad,but as far as I know it is already outlawed in many countries,though some still allow it..........I feel deep pity for those poor creatures for they have to suffer so much!!......

I feel so bad for these geese the way they are tortured,but may I say if you pluck down the right way they barely feel a thing.Alot of ducks and geese have loose feathers and if every week you very gentle comb threw the feathers and not pluck you will get a small amount from each bird,but after time you will have enough.All im saying is that gentle combing of the down isnt bad but when its done this way its absolutly disgusting!

We all have bodies with extremely similar functions, beating hearts, the ability to reproduce, and nerves that feel pain, and can express emotions like fear, happiness, and sadness. Sounds just like a human doesn't it? The only thing that makes us different is a higher, and applied intelligence. We're meat and bone just like animals, whether you like it or not.

Unfortunately, you cannot shave birds and expect them to re-feather. Feathers are not like hair. Feathers have 2 parts: the middle rachis (the "stick" part of the feather) and the fluffy barbs. The rachis grows first, then the barbs develop off of it. A broken rachis cannot regrow; the only way to get a new feather in its place is if the old rachis is naturally shed (or plucked).
