its not for gaming its for scientist an stuff but the next generation dx11 this card is for that.. dx11 those games could be played to the fullest with these cards but they havent made a game with dx11 yet

@Fuadsalomon123 yeah they have. The only game I know of that is out right now that uses mainly DX11 is DiRT2. Thats the only game that supports it.

@Fuadsalomon123 No one knows for sure what they are going to be called. The new Nvidia cards codename however is GF100. You can assume it is a 300 series however. And the next nvidia series is supposed to come out before the end of March this year. Whether or not nvidia keeps to that is another story. It'll be really hard to get one until the end of summer I'm afraid. And of course they will come with DX11. Nvidia is behind but not THAT behind. They should be the latest and greatest things out.

One of the Nvidia white papers (yes, I'm a geek who actually reads them) says 1.5 Terraflops, which is dissapointing considering the Radeon 5870's 2.72, but of course thats a far from a perfect indicator of performance.

The other architectural changes look incredible! Maybe Nvidia was really on to something when they said the importance of CPU's is diminishing.

the 1.5 Terraflops might be the same as the Radeons 2.27. Ati have named their DDR memory DDR5 but had nothing improved compared to the DDR3. They just put bugger numbers to make appear better. I'm not saying this as a fanboy but the Nvidia cards equivalent to the Ati cards have scored more FPS in all the benchmarks I've seen on youtube. The only game I've seen to have less FPS on a Nvidia was Half-Life 2 but that was a long time ago. Now with the new drivers it scores much more.

Thats why i said its a very imperfect indicator of performance.

Currently though, nothing on the Nvidia side beats the 5870 as a single chip card, we'll see about Fermi.

I am aware of the specs, what does that have to do with what i said though? We can only judge Fermi once its out, specs on paper are frequently misleading. For now, the 5870 is comfortably on top of other single chip cards.

They will use the same architecture, however the workstation cards will have ECC memory and of course different drivers.
