You should have just went to a different line in the first place. If you decided it was necessary to point her out, you should have done that before she started to check her items out. What you did made it such a huge inconvenience for the cashier because she had to deal with not only idiots that have 20+ items but with a customer that could have avoided this situation. I agree with you that idiots do go to the express lane and it's rude.
Unless you're making $75,000 or more as an employee at Walmart, and don't live in a New England state, just don't shop or work there! Enough said! I mean, really, just dodging the diapers in the parking lot is tacky! Psst!
It is against Walmart store policy to refuse a customer from a lane no matter how many items they have. On a first come first serve basis. It is up to the customers to count their items and get into the appropriate lane. Trust me, it annoys the cashiers in those lanes when someone walks up who obviously has too many items. But we can not refuse them. I am sorry if this bothers and/or upsets you.
You clearly never woked in retail. Now what ? You want to cause trouble to two people by giving their names and hoping they would get fired ... And if those two people acted differently they would have complaints from the other customer, the one who happened to have more than 20 items. Just argue with the customer if you want, but don't mess with the cashier for example who just try and do everything not to offend any customer, and remains polite yet under stress.
I do understand your frustration. People should abid by the rules, of course and Just because you do and I do doesn't mean everyone is the world will. That's just life and I'm sure you have lived long enough to know that not everyone abids by the rules or laws for that matter. I work at Wal-mart. You can't just say to a customer..go away you can't check out here. You hope that people will have respect for others and go to another register. If you worked in retail you would understand.
Why would you give out that poor cashier's name and location? She was just following a policy she has to in order to keep her job and you had to go and make someone's day that much worse. Take it up with corporate instead of harassing a cashier or "cash register" who had nothing to do with it and can't change a damn thing. Cashiers are people too.
Video makes a point. Those that break the rules are rewarded. Over limit of items vs welfare. Welfare; have babies, not educated, illegal, no English. Play by the rules; have children they can afford, get educated, legally here, speak English, too PROUD to continue on welfare for life, taxed to death. Who wins? Over limit person: there are more of them going to Walmart = keeping them open. Illegal's family = voting for our useless government., thus keeping our country on a down hill slide.
I created this video on a principle, not because I don't like cashiers or people of other races. The video is about a principle of enforcement. Our society has laws we're expected to obey. This is one reason people love to live in the United States. When the laws are broken and people look the other way, it sends a message of "It's OK... just do whatever you want." Other people suffer due to ignorance, lack of intelligence, and lack of enforcement. It's no wonder our country is in disarray.
LOL, in response to Seany527. This is what the country has come to. I look at all these posts like one would look at a child playing with toys. They just haven't grown up yet enough to see the truth. Most of the posts don't use proper grammar which indicates their lack of intelligence and education level. I can read them and simply shake my head. I created the video two-fold... to let people realize the social implication of stupid rules and because I'm a law abiding citizen (that's it).
Look U Old Tramp. STFU! Whateva PMS U On Get Off. Got Damn. I Bet If Yo White Azz Whould Want The Rules Bent FOr UIf U Were Her. What Wrong? Husband Left U For That Other "Nationality"? Fail. Get U A Vibrator Granma And Get Laid. Sumbodi Ought To Shove Those 6 Item In Ure Hole. Rascist Honkey. Got Damn . UDont Run Shit. Native Americans Do. This Is Their Land. Whites Didnt Follow The Rules Back Then. So Its Carma Bitch. FYI I Happen 2 Be Part Of You Nationality And Then Some.
(cont.)Something, not listening to someone bitch cause they don't get to go first because we have to accept EVERY customer. Being a cashier SUCKS, take it from one who is. If you really want to bitch at us for that take a moment to THINK, of the service we're providing and how irritated we get, BUT WE DEAL WITH IT!!!! lol
Okay... Lady, let me just explain this in the nicest way possible, you need to realize that there will ALWAYS be customers who don't obey the rules, we work with arrogant people all day long then we get one customer that bitches because of it, out of the 1000 customers we have each day we're not going to stop and praise your 6 stupid items just because one person has more, it's irritating to us when you don't realize that stores mottos are "the customer is always right", for the reason of BUYING
@dstinebaker - The video is about obeying a written rule or else take the written rule down. This has nothing to do with cashiers.... it has to do with corporate management.
ok i am totally with you on the walmart doesn't care about their customers soapbox... but the other person being another race has nothing to do with it and makes you sound like a racist hillbilly hag
@floogerbomb - Race has nothing to do with the Walmart Rules - The video was about their SIGN and enforcing the rules the corporate headquarters instill upon their managers. I stand by my statement: Take the "Express SIGN" down or enforce the Express RULE. That's it.
@guilirish With you there buddy :P Don't know how many times I've wanted to punch a bitch for yelling at me as if I make the rules. We're the lowest level, you have a problem GO TO CORPORATE lol leave us out of it, Wouldn't that be nice?
Con with Walmart (on average): 34+ front-end registers, but only 1/3 of them open.
Pro with Target (on average when busy): 32 front-end registers, but at least 3/4 of them open. So, Walmart, if your stores can have 34 registers at front, then WHY CAN'T YOU HAVE 34 CASHIERS DURING BUSIEST TIMES OF DAY?
Actually I see both sides (because I am a cashier & have to work w/ this stuff) Ok the 1 lady should've gone to another lane, but she didn't & unfortunately there is not much the cashier can do other than tell the customer & hope they'll move (mainly because the economy now a days places can't turn away sales) but on the other hand u could have asked yourself is it worth the stress to argue w/ this person (NOT saying DON'T bring it up to the manager) just don't add more stress to your day.
i'm a walmart cashier and I agree and disagree,23 items isn't a big deal, but then you those customers who have a cart full and want to go through an express check out, and we as walmart associates have to take them, we should be allowed to tell them that they have too many items and that they have to go another check out, but if we refuse them and they get mad and tell the manager that we refused them, even though they had 50 + items in a 20 or less check out, the cashier still gets in trouble.
You know in my opinion you customers are greedy grabby whinny complaining people that only think of me me and no one else. And then you complain about something not being on a shelf because I guess you are the only one on the planet and theres no way anyone else could have bought it. And the Checkout thing for 3 items more give me a break. You are just another me me customer and im just done with all of you. Being a cashier at Walmart is no treat either you whinny little child.
Oh god I want to punch this old bitch so hard, FUCKING FUCK I hate old hags like this. I'm a Walmart cashier, just today an old bitch was yelling and cussing at a mentally handicapped cashier I wanted to go over and slit her fucking neck and scream "SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!!!!!"
OMG..Who knows how long it took you to make this video, but if you have this much time to make a video to complain can't imagine you couldn't wait an extra 5 mins and be HUMAN to this woman in front of you. This is exactly what is wrong with the world today.. STOP hear yourself, read the book.. "The richest man in the world" about Marty a cashier at Wal-mart. Perhaps you could think about how grateful you are to have a computer, house, car, money to buy food.. There are so many that don't.
@Vidgraph yeah life isnt fair and i agree with your concept that the rules shouldnt be bent with that store but understand you won't always get your will accomplished and some times it's better to observer than to speak out with anger i don't like that this mad you that angry i wish people cared more about others but life is full of prideful people not willing to serve one another out of love. I hope you don't get angry any time soon over something like this try to stay calm and not explode.
I work at walmart and i would kick you out of my line so fast. 23 items seriously?!?1? i hope when im an old woman i will not be so bitter and petty and fkn annoying. Calling a manager over all that drama, how long would it take her to scan 3 more items????? pointless stress
I do agree with you. I work at a grocery store, not Wal-Mart though. The only time our express lane rules get bind is when it's the only one open till our store closes. Which we use it for our closeing register every once and a while, because it's closer to the exit and the office. Besides that the rules to it apply.
@vidgraph ur a super bitch saying earlier where else can a minority get a job what about a bank office being a lawyer get. A live and oh yeah I'm a cashier at Walmart and if a customer has four or five over the "twenty limet law" as u said it's not law the next time it happens are u going to call the police since it's a LAW lady for. And u said she had a different nationallity then how do u know she can read
you khnow what i ll tell you something i hate FUCKING OLD BITCH LADIES LIKE YOU i do not work for walt mart but i deal with bitches like you all day long and now i have the opportunit to tell you what i can t tell you when i m serving you FUCK YOUR SELF BITCH IF YOU DON T LIKE IT DON T COME AGAIN and you are FUCKING RACIST ALSO WHORE
well lady its not their falult what do you want them to do kick the other lady out and she blow up on them and get wrote up cus thats exactly what would happen. there was nothing wron with you waiting for one more person or like you said going to the express line instead you had to be bitchy bout it and now they gonna get in trouble they are put between a rock and a hard place grow up and stop putting this crap on youtube just cus u got a little tiffed at the grocery store
ARE SERIOUS? WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well when you don't get laid off from a big company and is force to work for minimum wage because there no other jobs available? So please let me know if your additude would change then?
I really do sympathize with your "by the book" personality type... It would be my guess that this is not the first time you have had a similar confrontation in some other aspect of your every day life... Am I correct?
Most people are not "by the book"... they do go slightly over the speed limit and they don't dot every "i" or cross every "t".
Programmers... Accountants... Brain Surgeons... Lawyers... these are careers best suited for "By The Book" personality types.
see the thing is cashiers CAN NOT deny a customer... if it was me i would've told the customer "you have too many items so please go to a bigger register" but management did specify in training that you cant deny a person with over 20 items in the express lane. it sux i know but thats what the rules are and usually an employee has to follow them
WOW!! This is the best customer ever. Love ppl like this. As a cashier I would have told you to wait your turn. You caused a HUGE issue that took several minuts more then needed. If you had kept your patience and sucked it up and not been a Bitch about it, you would have been out in just minuts. YOU CAUSED THIS ISSUE not the other customer, not the cashier, but you. Freakin ppl!!!
I can understand this woman's frustration but the cashier has no authority to kick people out of the express lane. It's not Aprils fault or even the CSM's fault. It's Walmart policy. Believe me, I would love to kick some idiot out of the express lane for having too many items but I can't. The customer is always right unless you're the customer waiting behind the idiot.
I work at walmart, my name is April, we as cashiers, CSM's cannot turn away any customers no matter how many items they have. Yeah, it sucks, but thats the rule. I tottally agree that LESS THAN 20 MEANS less than 20!!! REMEMBER MANAGEMENT CALLS THE SHOTS, NOT THE CASHIERS!!!!
How many strawberries were in the package and how many bananas were in the other bag? If you added each individual strawberry & banana together YOU technically went through the 20 or less line with MORE THAN 20 ITEMS...making you equally guilty of the crime you are accusing the person in front of you of committing and therefore making your argument redundant and making me hope everyone who sees your pointless whining rickroll you a million times a day as punishment for it!
I was a cashier at walmart and I was always told that we couldn't turn a customer away even if they had more than 20 items in the express lane. I had people that would come to those lanes with carts full of stuff that obviously should have gone to a regular lane. You know what I did? I turned every one of those stupid sons of bitches away! The express lane is not built to handle high numbers of items. It causes stress to the cashier and the customer! 20 items or less means 20 items or less!!
Lol, now this is funny, you actually think the csm's job is to count the items in customer's shopping carts? You must be a fairly new csm. If we approach a customer with 23 items and ask them to move to a belted register what would happen? I mean honestly, you actually think the customer would be ok with that. Yes, it is our job to direct customers, but that's only if their order is obviously over 20 items, meaning like 123...that I can understand. 23? No, that's ridiculous.
People will go to whatever lane they damn well please. People are entitled (w)itches that think everything is right even though they might be wrong. I definetly agree with the rules set foward but walmart doesn't even follow their own rules they set for themselves. I should know being a student worker.
@cclc5250 whatever managers like you are the one who make these bitch complain about every thing and any thing you tell the co workers something and you tell the customors something else just like my manager the difference is that i don t work at wall mart
Also walmart cashiers have one of the most demanding jobs in the retail world. Imagine punching in @ 6:30 am standing for 5 hrs a day b4 getting a 15 min break, constantly solving long division, algebra and weight conversion problems in under a minute while simultaneously running action codes through a computer and bagging items for a customer. All while trying to explain that you dont speak Spanish to a customer....in Spanish, only for said customer to state that you overcharged her
A Walmart cashier will NEVER let someone cut in line in the middle of a transaction. How would you like to manually void out every transaction just so some sniveling customer can get her 6 items in. It would take twice as long to complete the transaction. People never read that sign. Its people like them that ruin the purpose of the express lane. If you want a speedy checkout do what the employees do and checkout @ sporting goods or electronics
Of course they never read the sign, look at the type of people that come into the store...you either get people like this who think they're better and more important than anyone in the store or ya get the kind that will walk up to a register and ask the cashier "do you work here?". I have actually been asked "how do I get out of the store, can I go out the door I came in?"
god i hate those people...Ive also had people ask me if i work here when im carrying a TV to the register on a pallet jack dressed like the rest of the associates. drives me insane
And the message is pretty simple to grasp, you went into walmart, you were more than likely having a bad day, you couldn't think of anything else to complain about, you get to the checkout, you were impatient and started counting that person's items, when you got to I assume 21 you made a scene. And whining to management didn't help so you create a video on here to complain some more.
I'm going to assume you really don't get the message.
You come to a 35mph school zone. Do you obey the sign and slow down, or do you argue with the patrolman when he stops you, "But Officer, I was only going 5 miles over the speed limit!" ?
The school SIGN is there for a reason. Law abiding citizens obey the sign.
People who can read and value their time and others, will obey the Walmart sign and move to another cashier if they have more items then the sign states.
Never heard of anyone being pulled over by a cop for having more than 20 items in an express lane, that analogy doesn't work, we're not talking about the safety of children crossing the street, we're talking about how petty you are being by throwing a temper tantrum because a customer had 23 items in an express lane at walmart. And like I said, why were you counting her items in the first place UNLESS you were looking for something to whine about?
It's very simple, deal with how the store operates or go to Target, but counting someone's items, (23!!!), making a video on youtube to complain (I guess bitching at the cashier and mgr wasn't enough) is downright pathetic, sign or no sign, no one in their right mind would complain about your encounter. "End of story".
Apparently you don't get it, if that cashier had told that customer she couldn't ring her up, she could've lost her job, because people like you...with nothing better to do, come in and complain all...day...long, if that customer called home office, and reported the cashier she would be fired, because people like you whine so much and walmart goes out of their way to please the customers. A cashier on nightshift at my store was fired because she denied a transaction on an express lane.
And you have extra time? But can't wait in line for 23 items to be scanned without having a breakdown, you really are pathetic. And I love ho customers insist we enforce store policy when it benefits them, but throw a tantrum when we deny a refund, or a sale because the customer thinks the sign 20 feet away that says $1.95 is meant for the $19.95 item they want. And I mean really, I can't imagine anyone actually counting someone's items, which shows that you were impatient and wanting to whine.
Law-abiding citizens, that's just hilarious. And common sense? Who in their right mind would stand there and count someone's items at a checkout, and 23? That's retarded, it really is, if it was like 123, I'd be like yeah, you should've said something, but 3 items over...honestly. And if you weren't being nosey and counting her stuff in the first place you wouldn't know how much she had.
@vidgraph for goodness sake lady, it's W A L M A R T. Not a brain surgery. Really who cares? Far more important things in life to worry about that a "fake" sign at WalMart.
And if Wal-Mart is so bad, plain and simple don't shop there, and I see through your thin attempt to hide the fact that you're a racist old whiny ass woman. "Where else can a minority get a job", nice one. As for the policy all it takes is ONE, I say ONE moron like you to bitch about it, and the manager has to bend the rules and "take care" of the customer, because his job depends on it. There's no way to win with customers such as yourself.
I work there because it's a job, that is pretty much obvious. And yes, I can tell you're a rich, uptight old hag also, ya didn't have to tell me that. I didn't watch your little rant 3x, I only posted 3x, because of the char. limit. As far as me hating my job, I love it, it's dealing with "my crap don't stink, I am the center of the universe" rude people like you that I hate. You and every other customer that whines to us would NEVER say things like that to us away from our job.
One more thing, I love how you think we should stick to the rules but when we get some idiot like you coming to the service desk trying to do a return with no receipt that wasn't even bought here, and it's like a 90% consumed bag of chicken and we deny it because it's our policy you come unglued and bitch and moan until the mgr on duty gets sick of you and does it just to shut you up. You're a complete jackass for counting someone else's items, just shows you were trying to start crap.
And also I love how you said you were talking to the "cash register" not once but twice, I bet you asked like 10 associates wearing blue/khakis with name badges and obviously working if they work here, just so you could ask some dumb crap like where is the dogfood while standing in the middle of infants. Ever think the other customer would act like a retard like you if she denied the transaction? Ever stop to think how we feel dealing with some rude customer pitching a fit and we cannot respond?
It sounds like you have an attitude about Walmart that you have to defend them. You must own some stock or else they pay you extra to put up with irritated people who have to obey their mis-guided rules. Which is it?
Actually you sound like you HATE working at Wal-Mart.
One of my friends boycotts WalMart because they don't pay enough to their employees. I contend WalMart is a great place to shop because they give jobs to those who can't find work any place else.
I am a CSM at a walmart, and you ma'am are exactly the kind of idiotic customer that we all laugh our asses off at in the lounge. First off the cashier is correct, she cannot turn away a customer because they have 21 items, I mean seriously. You no doubt had the time to wait 2 1/2 minutes to be checked out, you're obviously a retired old bitter hag with nothing better to do than whine about a cashier doing her job at wal-mart. You had to wait, big deal, we have to put up with idiots like you.
OK from a cashier's point *I'm 19 and I work at a walmart as one*, I'd just like to point out I agree with you HOWEVER they ARE correct in taking people with more in their carts even in the 10-20 items or less. Now, I've even had people with 1 item on a busy Sunday come into my line that can take whatever, but then there'll be other people with alot of items trying to leave, and the smaller registers won't have any customers there. So I can understand you're angry but we have to follow the rules
yeah since 3 more items take so long! wow ur a b*tch, are on crack, yelling at a mother in front of her kids and yelling at the cashier and manager! a new low indeed!
Thanks for making my day. You made me laugh. It's about the WalMart POLICY not the customers and not the cashiers. I feel sorry for them! If Walmart would just take down the signs or enforce them, everyone would be happy.
Wow. I'm a cashier, and it's people like this who make my job difficult. It must have taken, what, all of 20 seconds to ring up those 3 extra items.
Also, I'd like to point out that if the cashier turned away that customer who had 23 items, she would have gotten yelled at for that, and had she taken the customer, as she did, she got yelled at by you. It's impossible to please everyone. If you would just be polite and patient it would make the cashier's job a lot more pleasant.
Sweetie, you must have A LOT of extra time on your hands. You must not have been in that big of a hurry if you had time to come home and make a video out your trip to Walmart. What does your husband have to say about all of this, that your crazy?
PS- They are called CARTS not Buggy's. But then again, you look like you're pushing 90 years old so maybe that is what they called them in the "olden days."
Its not about the customers or the cashiers...its about the POLICY!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA vidgraph needs a hobby, like going for a run, or, running with scissors.
I have extra time because I work for myself and don't have to punch a time clock. I don't have a husband . . . he died 5years ago. If something is a cart or a buggy or a bag or a basket, it's all the same isn't it? Check your thesaurus.
The 'purpose' (note correct spelling) is to show the RIDICULOUSNESS of policies that are broken by retailers who want to please everyone in spite of the rules they set for their customers and themselves. Yes, the whole system is ridiculous.
Madam, if you've never worked retail, you can't begin to imagine the "rules" that WalMart (and other retailers) have to bend to appease the public.
The worst (as an employee) is the return policy. Many of the transactions conducted at the Service Desk are down right criminal. But the public knows if they make a proper scene, they will eventually get what they want however blatantly wrong it is.
Thank goodness I work for myself. My parents were entrepreneurs and had retail businesses.
Unfortunately our country U.S.A. is giving criminals the rights and punishing those who don't give in to the immoral and unethical people.
America is being robbed of its entrepreneurial spirit with its welfare programs.
Yes, if the public makes a scene and demands undeserved privileges, the government (and WalMart) will eventually give it to them, no matter that it's blatantly wrong.
I go to WalMart regularly. I have no problem with the employees and the shoppers. Where else can a minority get a job? WalMart has great prices and a great selection of merchandise. The video was made mainly in jest. I see from the comments a lot of other people get caught up in it.
I learned to wait in line and wait my turn a LONG time ago. I'm a patient woman. I have no desire to become famous...but I have a sense of humor and a video camera. The situation was REAL. The anger was NOT.
wow... get over it. It's customers like you that make working retail miserable. At least you keep them entertained. If it wasn't for this breed associates would have nothing to laugh about!
LOL - I had fun doing the video with exaggeration. Yes, I was temporarily disturbed but it's not my nature to take it seriously. I shop WalMart all the time. Glad I entertained you.
as a walmart cashier, i sometimes work in express lanes, but i hate it because of people like you and people who just come up with a cart full of stuff and say, "well i don't see YOU doing anything else!" sorry nothing we can do about it...i just ring whoever comes to line now . . . can't make everyone happy i guess....
I may have understood your hostility if the woman had a whole cart full of stuff but she had 23 items. You're a bitch. Walmart doesn't need your money and if you think they do, you're horribly diluted. Get over yourself.
I, personally, think this wasn't meant to be serious rant. I think this woman was hoping to become a youtube celebrity & have her video put on t.v. and such. Well, guess what? Fail!
I'm a walmart cashier...and its people like you that make my job suck. For real though!? you did all this because of 23 items!?
It seems to me you wasted more of your own time (Arguing with the cashier...arguing with the manager..counting your bags..and making a 5 minute video) than April or the customer with 23 items did.
Exactly I'm, a cashier as well. You wasted so much time arguing with the cashier who could of had you and the lady in front of you in and out of the store. We are not allowed to turn people away. Get mad at the lady in front of you all you want, but don't take it out on the person who is just doing her job Customers like you make me wonder why I bother sometimes
WOW! You have an anger problem! I mean are u seriously this irate over such a small incident!? I am a cashier at Wal Mart and I often run the express lane.I simply say, "I don't care how many items you have if you can keep up with the bags" considering i only have three bags on the rack. Life is WAY 2 short to get upset over such simple matters. We are here to Glorify God, not be such a hateful person to your fellow man. Give me a break! NOT shop at Wal-Mart anymore? Couldn't do it if you tried.
And another thing, being the flawless citizen you believe yourself to be, as you bitch about FOLLOWING RULES, you should understand that, the cashier, was simply FOLLOWING THE RULES of her company an her manager by not allowing you to jump line! You were asking her to break her company's rules & risk getting in trouble or losing her job just because you didn't have the patience to wait in a line!!!! What a hypocrite!
My issue was not with the cashier so much . . . which is why I went to the manager. It is STORE POLICY that is not enforced which is the issue. The SIGN states one thing, the rules are something else. No consistancy here. Open your eyes!
p.s. MAMMABEAR25's comment wasn't pertaining to the express lane being meant to prevent lawsuits. It was pertaining to the policy in which no customer can be turned down from any register. That is, to an extent, to prevent lawsuits. Read more carefully.
Please, please, come to my wal mart & make an ass of yourself there so I can watch & laugh. Because that is what I would do. You've made such a huge deal over something so ridiculous. Thanks for a good laugh.
Your description pisses me off. Cashiers are not allowed to turn customers away. If you want to blame it on someone, blame the person who wrote the policy. You can't blame the cashier for doing her job.
Walmart has a store policy which is put into place to cover their liability in case of a lawsuit. If you don't like their policy don't shop there. This video made me think about all the energy you exerted flipping out by talking to managers and making a video. You would have exerted much less energy and anger if you had conjured the patience to wait for the extra items from the start. From a mother's perspective grow a heart! The woman had children and a couple extra items, cut her a break!
"Walmart has a store policy" - Yes, it does. Apparently their policy says anyone can check out at the Express lane regardless of what the sign says. That's the point of my video.
The reason for any Express Lane in any store is CUSTOMER SERVICE. It has nothing to do with lawsuits. Sorry, but my 6 items vs 23 puts their policy in MY favor, not the other way around.
I stand for principle. Apparently you do not. But, thanks for your comment!

If you are so concerned with saving your time to the point that you open your mouth and bitch about it, even going as far to call over the manager...
#1 Why would you waste even more time by calling the manager over, and causing a scene?
#2 Why would you waste time making a video about it?
#3 She only had 3 items over. If she'd had 50 items I could understand, but you're just being a prude and a bitch over this.

Psst!

Yeah thats baloney. You have less than the amount then you should be entitled to go ahead I would let you.

BoxOfRains 3 months ago

Illegal's family = voting for our useless government., thus keeping our country on a down hill slide.
whaleloveralways1 6 months ago

(cont.)Something, not listening to someone bitch cause they don't get to go first because we have to accept EVERY customer. Being a cashier SUCKS, take it from one who is. If you really want to bitch at us for that take a moment to THINK, of the service we're providing and how irritated we get, BUT WE DEAL WITH IT!!!! lol
dstinebaker 9 months ago
Okay... Lady, let me just explain this in the nicest way possible, you need to realize that there will ALWAYS be customers who don't obey the rules, we work with arrogant people all day long then we get one customer that bitches because of it, out of the 1000 customers we have each day we're not going to stop and praise your 6 stupid items just because one person has more, it's irritating to us when you don't realize that stores mottos are "the customer is always right", for the reason of BUYING
dstinebaker 9 months ago
@dstinebaker - The video is about obeying a written rule or else take the written rule down. This has nothing to do with cashiers.... it has to do with corporate management.

@floogerbomb - Race has nothing to do with the Walmart Rules - The video was about their SIGN and enforcing the rules the corporate headquarters instill upon their managers. I stand by my statement: Take the "Express SIGN" down or enforce the Express RULE. That's it.

Con with Walmart (on average): 34+ front-end registers, but only 1/3 of them open.
Pro with Target (on average when busy): 32 front-end registers, but at least 3/4 of them open. So, Walmart, if your stores can have 34 registers at front, then WHY CAN'T YOU HAVE 34 CASHIERS DURING BUSIEST TIMES OF DAY?
picrob2000 10 months ago
Actually I see both sides (because I am a cashier & have to work w/ this stuff) Ok the 1 lady should've gone to another lane, but she didn't & unfortunately there is not much the cashier can do other than tell the customer & hope they'll move (mainly because the economy now a days places can't turn away sales) but on the other hand u could have asked yourself is it worth the stress to argue w/ this person (NOT saying DON'T bring it up to the manager) just don't add more stress to your day.
RakaSebu 10 months ago
i'm a walmart cashier and I agree and disagree,23 items isn't a big deal, but then you those customers who have a cart full and want to go through an express check out, and we as walmart associates have to take them, we should be allowed to tell them that they have too many items and that they have to go another check out, but if we refuse them and they get mad and tell the manager that we refused them, even though they had 50 + items in a 20 or less check out, the cashier still gets in trouble.

And the Checkout thing for 3 items more give me a break. You are just another me me customer and im just done with all of you. Being a cashier at Walmart is no treat either you whinny little child.

Sometimes customers at express lanes will make up such excuses like
1. "I didn't see the sign"
2. "someone sent me here" (Which sometimes the manager will do.)
3. "The other cashes have long lines"
4. The customer sometimes think that buying 10 of the same item will count as 1 when it's still 10!
5. "We're 2 people" (This i may accept if both orders have less than the limit)
6. "There's no one here"
7. "I'm in a rush"
I'll accept you if you're more than the limit but still small.

1) You're complaining probably ended up taken more time than waiting would have
2) You have waaaay too much time and/or not much to worry about in life to have to be so upset about this minor issue
3) No offense, I really don't mean to offend, but seriously, if was the manager I would have told you, "don't like it? then go to somewhere else!"
4) I don't think WalMart cares if you don't want to shop there anymore. They don't care about customers, just there money.

I do agree with you. I work at a grocery store, not Wal-Mart though. The only time our express lane rules get bind is when it's the only one open till our store closes. Which we use it for our closeing register every once and a while, because it's closer to the exit and the office. Besides that the rules to it apply.

CourtneysAuntSara 2 years ago
I can understand this woman's frustration but the cashier has no authority to kick people out of the express lane. It's not Aprils fault or even the CSM's fault. It's Walmart policy. Believe me, I would love to kick some idiot out of the express lane for having too many items but I can't. The customer is always right unless you're the customer waiting behind the idiot.
TerryRay02 2 years ago
oh, you're one of THOSE people
like many people have said, cashier can't deny people.
and you griping at cashiers wont do anything. they don't make the rules.

danig120 2 years ago
I work at walmart, my name is April, we as cashiers, CSM's cannot turn away any customers no matter how many items they have. Yeah, it sucks, but thats the rule. I tottally agree that LESS THAN 20 MEANS less than 20!!! REMEMBER MANAGEMENT CALLS THE SHOTS, NOT THE CASHIERS!!!!
moejazzie 2 years ago 3

ShunGokuSatsu30 2 years ago
People will go to whatever lane they damn well please. People are entitled (w)itches that think everything is right even though they might be wrong. All while trying to explain that you dont speak Spanish to a customer....in Spanish, only for said customer to state that you overcharged her
PimpSlapNoJutsu 2 years ago
As a walmart cashier I can answer your question.
PimpSlapNoJutsu 2 years ago 2
Of course they never read the sign, look at the type of people that come into the store...you either get people like this who think they're better and more important than anyone in the store or ya get the kind that will walk up to a register and ask the cashier "do you work here?". I have actually been asked "how do I get out of the store, can I go out the door I came in?"
ShunGokuSatsu30 2 years ago
god i hate those people...Ive also had people ask me if i work here when im carrying a TV to the register on a pallet jack dressed like the rest of the associates. drives me insane
KillaBuStIn 2 years ago
And the message is pretty simple to grasp, you went into walmart, you were more than likely having a bad day, you couldn't think of anything else to complain about, you get to the checkout, you were impatient and started counting that person's items, when you got to I assume 21 you made a scene. And whining to management didn't help so you create a video on here to complain some more.
ShunGokuSatsu30 2 years ago
I'm going to assume you really don't get the message.
You come to a 35mph school zone. Do you obey the sign and slow down, or do you argue with the patrolman when he stops you, "But Officer, I was only going 5 miles over the speed limit!" ?
The school SIGN is there for a reason. Law abiding citizens obey the sign.
People who can read and value their time and others, will obey the Walmart sign and move to another cashier if they have more items then the sign states.
vidgraph 2 years ago
Never heard of anyone being pulled over by a cop for having more than 20 items in an express lane, that analogy doesn't work, we're not talking about the safety of children crossing the street, we're talking about how petty you are being by throwing a temper tantrum because a customer had 23 items in an express lane at walmart. And like I said, why were you counting her items in the first place UNLESS you were looking for something to whine about?
ShunGokuSatsu30 2 years ago
It's very simple, deal with how the store operates or go to Target, but counting someone's items, (23!!!), making a video on youtube to complain (I guess bitching at the cashier and mgr wasn't enough) is downright pathetic, sign or no sign, no one in their right mind would complain about your encounter. "End of story".
ShunGokuSatsu30 2 years ago
Apparently you don't get it, if that cashier had told that customer she couldn't ring her up, she could've lost her job, because people like you...with nothing better to do, come in and complain all...day...long, if that customer called home office, and reported the cashier she would be fired, because people like you whine so much and walmart goes out of their way to please the customers. A cashier on nightshift at my store was fired because she denied a transaction on an express lane.
ShunGokuSatsu30 2 years ago
And you have extra time? But can't wait in line for 23 items to be scanned without having a breakdown, you really are pathetic. And I love ho customers insist we enforce store policy when it benefits them, but throw a tantrum when we deny a refund, or a sale because the customer thinks the sign 20 feet away that says $1.95 is meant for the $19.95 item they want. And I mean really, I can't imagine anyone actually counting someone's items, which shows that you were impatient and wanting to whine.
ShunGokuSatsu30 2 years ago
Wrong again. Sorry. WalMart just needs to change the SIGNS that state "20 items or less" or they'll continue to have law-abiding people complain.
It's no fault of the cashiers or employees. It's the fault of management not getting together and making their voices heard at the corporate level.
Unfortunately customers have reason to complain and employees are forced to listen.
Rich? Not hardly - just practicing common sense.
--By the way, name calling is not flattering to you--.
vidgraph 2 years ago
Law-abiding citizens, that's just hilarious. And common sense? Who in their right mind would stand there and count someone's items at a checkout, and 23? That's retarded, it really is, if it was like 123, I'd be like yeah, you should've said something, but 3 items over...honestly. And if you weren't being nosey and counting her stuff in the first place you wouldn't know how much she had.
ShunGokuSatsu30 2 years ago
You still don't get it, do you? It's about the SIGN. The SIGN. The Sign that says, "20 items or less". End of story.
vidgraph 2 years ago
@vidgraph for goodness sake lady, it's W A L M A R T. Not a brain surgery. Really who cares? Far more important things in life to worry about that a "fake" sign at WalMart.
Mr101tech 1 year ago
And if Wal-Mart is so bad, plain and simple don't shop there, and I see through your thin attempt to hide the fact that you're a racist old whiny ass woman. "Where else can a minority get a job", nice one. As for the policy all it takes is ONE, I say ONE moron like you to bitch about it, and the manager has to bend the rules and "take care" of the customer, because his job depends on it. There's no way to win with customers such as yourself.
ShunGokuSatsu30 2 years ago
I work there because it's a job, that is pretty much obvious. And yes, I can tell you're a rich, uptight old hag also, ya didn't have to tell me that. I didn't watch your little rant 3x, I only posted 3x, because of the char. limit. As far as me hating my job, I love it, it's dealing with "my crap don't stink, I am the center of the universe" rude people like you that I hate. vidgraph 2 years ago
ShunGokuSatsu30 2 years ago
And also I love how you said you were talking to the "cash register" not once but twice, I bet you asked like 10 associates wearing blue/khakis with name badges and obviously working if they work here, just so you could ask some dumb crap like where is the dogfood while standing in the middle of infants. Ever think the other customer would act like a retard like you if she denied the transaction? Ever stop to think how we feel dealing with some rude customer pitching a fit and we cannot respond?
ShunGokuSatsu30 2 years ago
It sounds like you have an attitude about Walmart that you have to defend them. You must own some stock or else they pay you extra to put up with irritated people who have to obey their mis-guided rules. Which is it?
Actually you sound like you HATE working at Wal-Mart.
One of my friends boycotts WalMart because they don't pay enough to their employees. I contend WalMart is a great place to shop because they give jobs to those who can't find work any place else.

I am a CSM at a walmart, and you ma'am are exactly the kind of idiotic customer that we all laugh our asses off at in the lounge. So I can understand you're angry but we have to follow the rules

vidgraph 3 years ago
If you would just be polite and patient it would make the cashier's job a lot more pleasant.

vidgraph 3 years ago
ok because i didnt get it at first
jesterwhl 3 years ago
Madam, if you've never worked retail, you can't begin to imagine the "rules" that WalMart (and other retailers) have to bend to appease the public.
The worst (as an employee) is the return policy. Many of the transactions conducted at the Service Desk are down right criminal. But the public knows if they make a proper scene, they will eventually get what they want however blatantly wrong it is.
AlistairWahlters 3 years ago
Thank goodness I work for myself. My parents were entrepreneurs and had retail businesses.
Unfortunately our country U.S.A. is giving criminals the rights and punishing those who don't give in to the immoral and unethical people.
America is being robbed of its entrepreneurial spirit with its welfare programs.
Yes, if the public makes a scene and demands undeserved privileges, the government (and WalMart) will eventually give it to them, no matter that it's blatantly wrong.

You said it! "WalMart doesn't care what anyone says" . . . How true, how true.

you go girl...It's the same way here in ky

I agree with you omgitsLindsay....I hated these kind of customers. They made life as a cashier painful...glad I got out of that gig.
aptharsia 3 years ago
I'm glad you got out of it, too. Putting up with irritated customers who have to put up with unenforced policies is no picnic.

as a walmart cashier, i sometimes work in express lanes, but i hate it because of people like you and people who just come up with a cart full of stuff and say, "well i don't see YOU doing anything else!" sorry nothing we can do about it...i just ring whoever comes to line now . . . can't make everyone happy i guess....

Furthermore, I don't know about you but I learned how to wait in a line in kindergarten and it's a skill that hasn't dwindled.

I may have understood your hostility if the woman had a whole cart full of stuff but she had 23 items. You're a bitch. Walmart doesn't need your money and if you think they do, you're horribly diluted. Get over yourself.
xiala1980 3 years ago
I, personally, think this wasn't meant to be serious rant. I think this woman was hoping to become a youtube celebrity & have her video put on t.v. and such. Well, guess what? Fail!

Aww. poor April.

I enjoyed making the video. You obviously watched it. That's my point. I hope you learned how the WalMart policy is subjective.

@CoffeeJunkie09
GrissomsGirl8604 1 year ago
Couldn't do it if you tried.
presidentfernatt 3 years ago 3
Again, it's the SIGNS that make customers irate. Take down the signs or enforce the signs. . . . it's that easy.
vidgraph 2 years ago
And another thing, being the flawless citizen you believe yourself to be, as you bitch about FOLLOWING RULES, you should understand that, the cashier, was simply FOLLOWING THE RULES of her company an her manager by not allowing you to jump line! You were asking her to break her company's rules & risk getting in trouble or losing her job just because you didn't have the patience to wait in a line!!!! What a hypocrite!
mozartfan2008 3 years ago
My issue was not with the cashier so much . . . which is why I went to the manager. It is STORE POLICY that is not enforced which is the issue. The SIGN states one thing, the rules are something else. No consistancy here. Open your eyes!
vidgraph 2 years ago
p.s. MAMMABEAR25's comment wasn't pertaining to the express lane being meant to prevent lawsuits. It was pertaining to the policy in which no customer can be turned down from any register. That is, to an extent, to prevent lawsuits. Read more carefully.
mozartfan2008 3 years ago
Please, please, come to my wal mart & make an ass of yourself there so I can watch & laugh. Because that is what I would do. You've made such a huge deal over something so ridiculous. Thanks for a good laugh.
mozartfan2008 3 years ago 2
Your description pisses me off. Cashiers are not allowed to turn customers away. If you want to blame it on someone, blame the person who wrote the policy. You can't blame the cashier for doing her job.
Musikc 3 years ago 11
hell yeah
i'm a cashier at wal-mart
and i had to ring up this lady with frickin 63 ITEMS! 63 on the express lane! we're not suppose to turn anyone down, but we can though
FenderBender5 3 years ago
Walmart has a store policy which is put into place to cover their liability in case of a lawsuit. If you don't like their policy don't shop there. This video made me think about all the energy you exerted flipping out by talking to managers and making a video. You would have exerted much less energy and anger if you had conjured the patience to wait for the extra items from the start. From a mother's perspective grow a heart! The woman had children and a couple extra items, cut her a break!
MAMMABEAR25 3 years ago 3
"Walmart has a store policy" - Yes, it does. Apparently their policy says anyone can check out at the Express lane regardless of what the sign says. That's the point of my video.
The reason for any Express Lane in any store is CUSTOMER SERVICE. It has nothing to do with lawsuits. Sorry, but my 6 items vs 23 puts their policy in MY favor, not the other way around.
I stand for principle. Apparently you do not. But, thanks for your comment!
