  • Heredity cannot be avoided, but it can be taken advantage of. Ben is good! I'm glad he hasn't wasted what he has received.

  • After my divorce , I began singing this to my son and daughter (6 & 4). It helped us establish our "new" relationship on a level that had been unmatched before. Now, I'm singing it to my grandaughters 2 and 4, and my daughter sings it with me. My son wants to sing it at my memorial some day. Truly a special gift to us all from JT.

  • That was great !!!!!

  • WOW!

  • My lullaby tune for my daughter, too ...

  • He has his dad's lovely hair...

  • Always sing this to my children.

  • Who is Ben singing with?

  • @Queenbeatleswings

    Funny that! lol

  • he sounds similar to James Taylor in style

  • @QueenBeatlesWings

    he is jame's son

  • l.r. baggs M1 pickup sounds great

  • This was beautifully done. Bravo !

  • amazing how the children of musicians often absorb their parents' musical abilities.

  • One of my very favorite songs. Ben has such a sweet Spirit that flows out of him, as his Dad does. What a treat! :)

  • Such a pretty and soothing song.

  • I love this song it reminds me of my all time favorite Lover Connie its a bittersweet feeling.

  • The Love continues!

  • ty Ben. I loved it.

  • Wow. Amazing.

  • i love this song, but weirdly i think he sounds more like paul simon than james taylor. well whatever it is, i love his sound =D

  • I also sang my son to sleep with this song many a night. I alternated it with "Hush Little Baby" and "Sweet Baby James."

  • @busterbobby Hush Little Baby and Sweet Baby James are two that I sang my guys as well . Now I'm going to relearn some old nursery songs ,etc for our first grand child James Taylor wrote Sweet Baby James for a nephew

  • Does he ever look like his Daddy here! FAVORITE SONG!!! I want this at my wedding AND funeral...

  • I love the Taylor family, it is hard to find true talent anymore half the artists these day's use vocoders and plenty of other tricks to make it sound like they can sing, when in all actuality they can not!

  • who is the woman?

  • slightly more husky than James but good in his own right.

  • I saw Ben a few years ago in Austin. He was just fantastic. Could hear a bit of his Dad in him, but also had his own voice. My favorite was a song about his lab, who he described as "90 pounds of 'wanna be friends?' " Loved it!

  • He is a darling. I'll be buying all of his music throughout the duration of his career. I Love his Dad, and am the same age as Ben! <3 The world needs more and more of this family.

  • A little haunt in there, for sure...

  • I totally agree.

  • dude we have the same name!!! dead serious

  • I remember my ex played this early in our dating on his guitar...when we got married I wanted it for our first dance,,,,the band we hired didn't know it, my ex said it was really a break-up song (hmmm). I remember being pregnant at the same times as Carly, my daughter was Sally, my nephew was Ben...go figure...still love this song

  • Ben played in Burlington, VT a couple years ago. I had planned to go with my wife, but wasn't able to go, so she took her girlfriend with her. Both of these ladies were around 50 years old at the time (and pretty hot, btw)! In between sets, my wife and her friend got in a conversation with Ben. He sat down with them, and my wife said he was down to earth, humble, and a real gentleman! Apple doesn't fall far from the big old NC hickory tree! I hope he has continued success in life and music!

  • where is Ben's hair?

  • same place as his father's ...

  • I hope Ben visits Argentina in the future as his father did some years ago. I'll close my eyes, listen his songs and be all right then.

  • Great duo ! We that do gigs want to emulate James I suppose (why not?).but

we strive to be disciples of the music and lyrics as individual performers. We do

    Carley,Harry C.,Joni,Judy C,,Joan,Jim C,

Richie H, and other icons. Why? because

their stuff is timeless and the people said ...amen!

  • he sounds like james :)

  • wow

  • ..funny how life sometimes repeats itself..

  • NICE

  • i was at this concert second row. ben is great

  • He does well, and I know he had a good guitar teacher too.

  • Ben came by our studios this morning for an interview and he played a bunch of songs. Check out the videos at my page.

  • hes so much like his dad, even his guitar sounds similar.

    whos the girl?

  • Meredith Sheldon. She's an amazing singer.

  • how fantastic

  • Spitting image his father.

  • Now he sounds AND looks just like his father

  • 4catwoman: I just wanted to say sorry to hear about your dogs, I just cried now when I read what you wrote. That must've been hard. Peace to you:-)

  • @lrgrjg Thanks . It was hard . It is now a family lullaby which I am going to be able to sing to our first grandchild when he or she is born in November . Sweet Baby James is another that I sang to my kiddos. We also sang James Taylor's Sunny Skies to the first dog we lost . She fit the song pretty well.

  • Wow!! If I didn't know any better I'd think I was watching James! This is my all time favorite JT song. Maybe all time favorite song by anyone. Just beautiful.

  • Awsome Video dude!!

  • WOW

  • Be still my beating heart <3

  • amazing...

  • All of the Taylor brothers sound alike

(James,Livingston, etc.)so I guess all the Taylors from generations will sound alike.

  • Ben is James's son.

  • Yes,I knew that.That's why I wrote "I guess

all the Taylors from generations will sound

    alike"

  • I've sung my kids to sleep to this song for 13 years now. It always moves me when they start singing along with me.

  • I to have sung this to my kids. They never sang back with me though.I have even sung this to my animals.I sang it to both my beloved labs before we put them down.I think that I would like to have it sung to me when I go.

  • @4catwoman What a sweet but sad comment. It brought a tear to my eye, and made me think of my 18 yr old cat that I had to put to sleep.

    signed, Another catwoman

  • @4catwoman I am now going to have the awesome opportunity to sing this to my new grandchild in November

  • Wow...this is great. Sounds just like his dad. How cool is that!

  • I find something beautiful about this song being passed from a father to a son and how the song may change or progress a little but the song is still true. And hearing both father and son sing the line "and you can sing this song when I'm gone" gets to me.

  • The apple doesn't fall far from the tree

  • sublime Ben ..you ve made it your own song

  • well, he didn't really make it his own song. it's the same as the original. haha. but it is a great cover

  • subtle differences...sung by a son ..proud of his father...great harmonies. We all see and talk through our own experiences. But yep tou re right same song!

  • meredith and ben are superb, just heard them both,in intimate surroundings, wonderful my head is still in spinning could have stayed all night, love ya ben see you in july x

  • Wow! Genetics are a wonderful thing!

  • fantastic

  • meredith and ben are a beautiful couple. they really have so much chemistry.

  • Are they a couple?

  • Brother & sister. Their dad, of course, is the great James Taylor.

  • That's not his sister. That's Meredith Sheldon - James Taylor is her godfather but not her Dad. They are childhood friends. His sister has Blonde hair and is called Sally Taylor.

  • I stand corrected, I thought it was Sally.

  • big taylor fan! so glad my 15teen year old is creative &loves music like his dad , blew me away he liked ben &of course were bonding ''cooly'' over my JT collection!

  • Meridith Sheldon is amazing. She sings like an angel. I wish she would make a recording.

  • Is that Sonya Kitchell singing with him? I know they did that show together.. but my brother went to high school with her and played with her on a few things... and it doesn't really sound or look much like her.

  • No, it's Meredith Sheldon

  • Looks like his sister, actually.

  • Thanks for posting this. This is my favorite song of all-time AND I am newly-interested in Ben, so it's a win-win!!!
