  • If any one cares my birthday is in June. June 14 in fact.

  • @jamesdelude I guess I really don't care....but now that I know, I'll wish you a happy belated birthday anyhow.

  • We never missed "Hit Parade" back then. Sure brings back memories of when a TV could also be used to heat a small room.

  • the segment from 0:30 to 0:37 sounds a little like the part of "it's a grand night for singing" (from "state fair") that goes "the earth is aglow and to add to the show i think i am falling in love."

  • @wallofvideo Aren't both songs by Richard Rodgers? Good observation.

  • What is "Yout hit parade"?

  • nice...

  • Yes it is nice, isn't it? Gisele did a LOT of shows throughout her career, but never did "Carousel."

  • Good point about the censorship! Gisele often told the story about how she and Dorothy Collins were always stuck singing "Let Me Go Lover" because males weren't allowed to say or sing the word "Lover" on TV! O brother!

Gisele was one of the finest performers in the business...she kept herself trim and ready for any role, right up until she left us after battle cancer. I knew her well, and she was one of the finest people I've ever known!

  • How did you know Gisele? Were you in show

    biz too? A Canadian?

I always liked pop singers who had good voices like Jane Morgan and Vic Damon.

Don't care much for the "song stylists" like Tony Bennett or Mel Torme or Patty Page.

They don't really produce a wonderful sound.

(IMHO. Yes, viewers are entitled to their

    own opinions.)

  • Was a fan...from when I was a little boy. We became good friends and it lasted a lifetime. She was a lovely lady. I saw MANY of her concerts, theater shows, etc. and visited her in her home several times.

  • I had the pleasure of serving her dinner at my uncles restaurant in Carmel, Ca. in 68 or 69. Don't remember the exact date.

  • nice video, and a great song

  • Shows the greatest of Hit Parade, always moving, always live, always entertaining, truly wonderful!
