  • Kurwa zajebiste... no comment :-)

  • Thanks for this GJH, all those years ago. Imberholme, NELP, Rosewarne, Brixton. Where are you now?

  • This song is just amazingly melancolic poetic . Beautifull. Who kill mine innocence, who was the killer. Everyone of us had a killer inside.

  • So beautiful. "Someone shot our innocence..."

  • David J sang on this one isn't?

  • @zengrey DAMN! you're 40, that must be rough. Least you still have great taste in music LOL.

  • my sis still has an early rare 45 rpm single they used a picture of her on the front cover

  • my sis dated 1 of the guys in this band way back in 1975-6 when they where hardly known they used to band patice in the cellar of the house that they were staying in at the time which was directly opposite to where i lived at the time in northampton i was only 13 yrs old then i remember them letting me into the cellar to lisin to them play on several occasions it was great they used to play gigs at the pavillion in northampton 1977 they played in the street for the jubliee great band & times

  • Amaazing <3

  • Love love love this song! This is taking me WAY back.

  • @zengrey haha that is ok good sir, you enjoy your alcoholic beverages before the zombie apocalypse happens and we need them for medical aid.

  • @zengrey You do know they came out with "Go Away White'" right?

  • amazing piece

  • NEW MUSIC GROUP CAN DIN SKY

  • I remember Sharpee-markering the lyrics to this song into a public bus stop bench in Largo, FL, in '88. I was a young adult. I'm sure no one at that bus stop got it, and eventually the bench was removed to prevent the homeless, just looking for a place to rest their bones, from lowering the value of the neighboring properties.

  • @deathsexile Cruxshadows are my favorite band, in my teens BAUHAUS was, LOL I don't know how you hear what you hear but the two are completely different. Cruxshadows are upbeat and peppy like an eight year olds b-day party(ok maybe not that sweet but still). BAUHAUS is dark moody thoughtful and beautiful! BTW listen to sophia on dreamcypher it is totally addictive! >:)

  • Such a beautiful song... So many memories with this...

  • THANKS.

  • i clicked on this one after hearing "spirit" about 13 times lol. a really cool band that i'd heard of before but never taken the time to listen to.. shame

  • God I want to download this song but I don't know where?

I must buy this record as well, it's amazing. Just found this song! :-)

  • They remind me of The Cruxshadows and I like the Cruxshadows a lot

  • nieśmiertelni !!!!!!!!!!!

  • they did EVERYTHING, befor anyone else thought of it... they could throw a blue flash from 85 feet

  • dont u dare to even compare BAUHAUS with A shitty ass nu age evanescence wateva that crap is called

  • please don't say 30 years, it makes me feel old.

  • @cheds1971 well, it seems we are two...

  • Oh, Bauhaus... It's so beautiful... I love their music... It makes you feel things...

  • why did i never know about this band?

    ...who killed mr moonlight...!

  • @willowslade If you don't know them and like this one, try "Bela Lugosi's Dead" and "She's in Parties", enjoy :)

  • why did i never know about this band?

  • Bauhaus, so timeless and so great! This song still holds up 30 years later.

  • A must read: FROM BAUHAUS TO OUR HOUSE .

  • I associate this song to a kid who is sexually abused and is speaking about his/her abuser and how the experience has shattered his/her life.

  • Damn, a great song.

  • i love this song...

  • You guys know any bands similar to Bauhaus and The Cure (their dark eras like Bloodflowers, Pornography, Disintegration)?

  • @xkhuongdox you're such a poser...

  • @ArturoVergaraM I don't call myself a goth. I just enjoy the music :) But whatever. I was in love with the song The Figurehead by The Cure so I was just looking for a band with a similar sound and someone recommended me Bauhaus. I never like Friday I'm In Love. How does not liking a particular style in music make me a poser? God. Maybe you're a poser yourself eh?

I don't listen exclusively to gothic rock. So please fuck off.

  • @xkhuongdox Ignore that prick.In response I would suggest

Fields Of The Nephilim-The Nephilim Elisium

    The Sisters of Mercy- Floodland

    The Chameleons-

    Rosetta Stone-

    Christian Death-

Good luck, my friend, I love The Nephilim, and hope you love them too! x

  • @xkhuongdox well said,i can t stand those "am the real deal" wannabes calling peep poser thinking that s gonna make them genuine:D

at the end of the day it s about you and your music u don t need fancy cloth.

Still i was goona say u might wanna check transmission and ice age from Joy Division..some of my personnal favorite for...well ages now^^

  • @xkhuongdox I did consider myself "goth," really before anyone in my area had a name for it, (started in the mid-80s, as a teen.) We welcomed folks to listen to our music and enjoy it.

  • i was looking at the moon when i was listening to this, it was a beautiful moment.

  • @Evarose777 i love songs that do that

  • I wonder if it says anything about me that I let the silence continue to the end because A: I want it to get another view number and

B: nice chance to roll some fags!

  • Bauhaus are forever immortally great

  • Beautiful track ...

  • alien sex fiend another great band

  • I did not kill anyone. I loved Mr Moonlight, even if I was always in the shadow of his smile.

  • Love Bauhaus!

This is a great song too.

Ugh.

  • By far david J's best vocal performance. One of the best bauhaus songs too.

  • old times...mhhhhm...finefine :)

  • this takes me back / black mohair jumper, black skin tight jeans, winkle pickers, bleaching my hair, the smell of dope, the buzz from glue, the removal from this plane by acid, .....

im nearly 50 and this still gives me goose bumps

  • @dogfart666ok I hear you mate. I'm 10 years younger, but we were doing the same thing in the mid-late 80s listening to bauhaus. The golden years! Still love them. I'd better do as I'd got that bauhaus symbol tattooed on my arm when I was 18. The sad thing is that everybody I know now has noty experienced them.

  • @TheGraveyardScene............ yeah my friend - real happy daze - they're one of those bands that get into your head - the first listening to any new bauhaus album was an event, the static from the inner sleeve clinging to the vinyl, the first hiss of the needle hitting the disc.......once you'd heard it all the way through - and getting up to turn it over - it would always be re-played and savoured. shit, i think i'll dig out 'mask' and give it a spin - peace to you my friend...

  • @dogfart666ok You describe it perfectly. I still have all my albums on vinyl, but sadly no longer have a record player on which to listen to them. I have most of them on CD though, but it's not the same. I get my records out every once in a while and just look at them. Ah, the smell of the vinyl! Takes me back. How I used to love looking in second hand record shops. Take care of yourself mate.

  • @TheGraveyardScene ... You and me and a million others have the vinyl up in the loft or in the spare room gathering dust! a great shame! ...don't get me started on second hand record shops.....! peace / cheers

  • ....we cant paint any pictures as the moon had all our brushes

  • There is no more music like this around anymore. One of my favorite bands! Such a great song.

  • @Bansheeeyes78 You´re right

  • Is this that band that did gas station commercials?

    OH he did!

  • @barakobama - No, honestly, this is how it goes: "Maxell, break the sound barrier"

  • superbe morceau!!! merci jerem...

  • I agree that they are a bit underrated. Certainly they have moments of genius; 'The Passion of Lovers' is my top ten. But a large part of the Bauhaus appeal is legacy.

  • nice even 20 years later

  • @warhola1 27 years ^^

  • Evanescence did have some 'okay' music in their Origin and Not for your ears EP, but Fallen and everything that came after was a pile of crap. Origin definitely has a 'gothic' feel to it, not in the same way that Bauhaus or any of the original 80's bands do, but in a mournful post renaissance period, often incorporated into Goth music. Well, for me, it's a mournful post-renaissance feel. Not sure about anyone else.

  • @TheKatIsBackAgain

I actually think Evanescence are brilliant. But anyway, why the fuck are we debating about them on here in the first place for? Let's just sit back and listen to Bauhaus ;-)

  • to argue over art displays nothing but ignorance and provinciality. grow.....

  • @Ausiegingerkid

    Good comment there ;-)

  • fuck evancesnse or however they'r writen

  • Kicks the 70s right in the ass!

  • Pete Murphy... What more needs to be said :)

  • @boredofitall I think that David J is the singer of this song.

  • Holy crap I cant stress how much I love this track.

  • Pezzo stupendo, uno dei miei preferiti dei Bauhaus

  • who killed sgt pepper?

  • yoko

  • They cannot be classified by just one style as they went beyond all limits.

  • No more such imagination and creativity as Bauhaus.

  • Someone shot nostalgia in the back. Thanks for the memories!!

  • First Generation Old school Goth!!Always a classic. Forever will be The best!

  • Non conoscevo questo gruppo... Ora questa è la mia canzone preferita

  • Question isn't who killed mr. moonlight , but who didn't kill mr. moonlight?

    think about that...

  • I love this song.

  • @DarthVil and HelMe6::

that's true because when Evanescence first came out they never stated they were a Goth band nor did anyone really think they were until they got an award for best Gothic Rock band or sound or whatever (those who gave the award probably don't know Goth music that much idk). Then people started saying Evanescence is Goth and it went from there. But it appears that none have ever bothered really asking the band if they've ever called themselves Goth.

  • lmao im a 90's child

so i like tool, nine inch nails, melvins, queens of the stone age

but bauhaus and skinny puppy were great too

i understand how angering it is when you see all these new age 1 hit wonder bands that everybody thinks are so great and they leave great bands like bauhaus to be forgotten

    its a damn shame.

oh well, bauhaus will be great forever

  • All us old Goths should start a website! "Goths re-united"! We could all arrange to meet up and go to some of the 80's goth re-union concerts. I feel old when i watch stuff like this and bauhaus, the cult etc! Let's live again before it's too late!

  • There's some sites that Elder Goths go to. I'll private-message you one such site.

  • Can i have the link to?plz im young but i know alot about the music an where it came from an all that.

  • Bauhaus <3old goth rock is best!!!, fuck evanescence . Evanescence never be gothic -,,-

  • In fairness to Evanescence, they never claimed that they were Goth. Morons did that. :)

  • i"m with DarthVil.

  • Exactly!

  • @DarthVil i concur.same holds true for the cure and the countless other bands who will refute that claim of being goth .

  • @DarthVil There is no fairness towards Evanescene. The lot of them are simple "metal redux". Bauhaus was art and brilliance. There is NO comparison

  • @tdoesntmatter - You'll find no argument from Me. The point that I was making had everything to do with the ridiculousness of the mainstream somehow connecting them to Gothic Rock. It's about as fitting as suggesting that AC/DC are Gangster Rappers.

Even if I didn't love Bauhaus, just by having an ear for music, I would have to agree that there is no comparison between the two. If what I said came across as an attempt to link them, then I apologize even for accidentally having done so!

  • @DarthVil Ahh! I understand. No apologies needed! Even if you were defending Evanewhatever. I was just afraid you might be one of those kids who think goth or the dark scene started with Hot Topic and MM.

  • @tdoesntmatter I understand your gripe. I'm no kid, and I've been a part of the culture since I was 19. In short, I feel your pain.

I'd also like to clarify that I don't feel that I was defending Evanescence. I was merely pointing out that they never referred to themselves as Goths, and that only morons did that. As far as they go as a band, I have no more reason to defend them or to trash-talk them. I just don't care for their music and don't give them more thought than that.

  • @DarthVil bit they are a stereotypical goth in most ways 0.o

  • @boredbranflakes Not really. Yeah, they often wear black (not exclusively). Their music of that band doesn't even sound distinctively like, say, Bauhaus (the band whose music to which this thread is attached).

  • ooh...this song is one of my favorites!! They are just...gr8!

IMPRESSIONANT O.O

  • ...someone shot our innocence

    and all our colours...

    have run...

  • My favorite........

  • So surreal and haunting.

  • Great Band and soooo sad song , remember celebrate the heartache of my first big love with this track

  • they are gothic rock i guess

  • Bauhaus were never a goth band. Goths just claimed them as there own.

  • sigh must we all represent it like a niger as in "old skool goth" or "goth for life" i mean really you sound ignorant, what did you google it and decide to become it from switching from hatebreed to bauhaus? jesus. have some dignity, originality, and respect for yourself god damn.

  • You use the term "niger" and then claim them to be ignorant?

  • Racism is ignorance!

  • gothic for life (L)

  • Some1 shot nostalgia.

  • old skool goth

  • Gothic rock <3, true gothic music \.../

  • Who killed Mr Moonlight?

  • it`s similar of the album press the eject and give me the tipe.....it`s the album one friend of mine more older than me introduce me that album and that time i listen satanic rock and i be enchanted to bauhaus..after that i try the goth and i love goth rock.and for me bauhaus is the best....and short person`s know the existence of bauhaus.....regards from portugal

  • Soberbio me trae recuerdos preciosos

  • this is my dearest album of bauhaus and one of the best albums ever :)))

  • Does anybody know what key this song's in?

  • youth. miss it.

  • in the shadow of his smile

in the shadow of his smile

in the shadow of his smile

in the shadow of his smile

  • Bauhaus are terrific

  • Somone shot nostalgia in the back

  • Great song :)))

  • sorry, but Peter doesnt sing in this song. Those are Daniel and David's voices. Great song

  • The most underrated band ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe it's better that way, quality over quantity

  • Definitely. Artists get so worked up trying to get signed and earning money, they forget what music's all about - the music.

One of many reasons why I love bauhaus, for them it was always about the music.

  • @domusaimports if you think this band is underrated, go to any crappy goth club and you'll soon figure out that they're actually overrated.

  • @molecularash

Are you 3 hairs from being a baboon? Because of this "overrated" band you have goth clubs to attend. Murphy isn't known as the "Godfather of Goth" for headline sakes. Do your research, and really listen... you'll find why they are underrated.

    Peace...

  • @Thatgirl1973 hahaha there would be no goth clubs if bauhaus never existed? fucking please. just because you really like this band, there's no reason to make such sensationalized and unprovable claims. also, the idea that if i "really listen" i will hear what's so great about this band is utterly laughable. i've heard every song this band has ever made and maybe 3 of them stick out as decent. they're just not for me. never have been. if i wanted low-rent bowie clones i'd listen to gary numan

  • @molecularash hahahaha... What? I don't make anyhting... it is what it is. Look at the influence they had on other bands of the genre. Because you don't like something doesn't make it crap! And if you don't like... why are you here listening and commenting here? You haven't listened to the music, the words, because if you did you wouldn't be so hollow! I could go on but its not worth it... move on from here if you hate the music so much, and leave those that love and understand it in peace.

  • @Thatgirl1973 i don't care about their influence because their clone bands sound as cliche as they do. The reason I am here is because I think this song is ok. I initially responded to someone saying this band was underrated, which i completely disagree with. they're one of the forerunners of an entire musical movement that everyone knows about. they've been reviewed in every major music magazine.

  • @Thatgirl1973 the fact that i dislike bauhaus doesn't make me hollow, it simply shows that i have different tastes than you. i prefer the music that inspired them more than what they produced. bowie, t rex, brian eno, the velvet underground, john cale, peter hammill, can, etc etc. bauhaus just failed to spark any real interest from me. it's not because i haven't listened, it's because i didn't like what i heard. no reason to be childish about it.

  • @Thatgirl1973 I don't think he's disturbed your peace too much.

  • @domusaimports The masses don't recognize true art and talent. Fuck why else would Lady GaGa and Britney Spears be so famous!

  • not heard his for over 20 years, maybe cos I got all the records but no player lol

  • God, this is my favorite song ever. Thanks for putting this up. So beautiful...and I feel like I can realte to what Peter Murphy is saying...I too feel like i'm hiding in the bushes from pitbulls on chains, britney-clones on cellphones and just intimidating, souless, thuglife monsters who support the war and rule east-portland with an iron hand. Fuck, I love what this country stands for, but hate most of the people in it.

  • oh, don't get me wrong...I appreciate talent. coldplay just doesn't happen to fall under the category of talented acts imo. nice try though. Go fail somewhere else please.

  • someone compared Bauhaus to coldplay?! wow %100 fail. what a moron.

coldplay should be shot in their collective faces just for breathing not to mention the shithouse music they make...just sad.

  • Coldplay blatanly plagiarises "Computerlove" by Kraftwerk. Fuck Coldplay.

  • Comment removed

  • someone is comparing Coldplay to this? Ladies and gentlemen the war on drugs has clearly failed.

  • JOHN SPANO IS MISSED!

  • Comment removed

  • Excuse me ?!

    How awful ?

    I don't understand your meaning,

Theyre Sick to the Very Core.

  • epic fail on your part.

anyone who doesn't like Bauhaus must be either braindead or emo. (not like there's much of a difference.)
