Dude, I really need help i just bought my crested gecko sand as a substrate but they said back at the pet store (Petco) it was ideal for geckos. (My parents bought it) If you need a link to the sand i bought dont think 2 times on e-mail me. Thanks!
wow someone did not read the discription.. geesh read before comenting, plus its not a fight geckos alot of times nip off their tank mates tails cause they confuse it for food (wat happened here is the same thing) it is also stated in the description.... geez
the guy wanted to show how they eat the one with not tail just got to excited and bit the others tail by accident since it missed the cricket, yes stuff like this happens and as he said thats not their home and i think he also says thats wat happens wen housed together and he only did this to show feeding not like a big deal, it wasnt even a hard bite or else the tail would have fallen off
omg what the hell i dont know much about crested geckosbut i know leopard geckos lose there tails and i he the ones tail is gone really your an idiot!!!
Cresties do not regrow their tails like many other geckos do. Often their tail doesn't even need to be pulled on to make them drop, stress can do it too or it can happen for no particular reason.
but the one at the pet store i live near by lost its tail and i can see that it is growing back! even the workers told me it lost its tail...im confused! :/
If your gecko is a female I suggest putting her on paper towel or newspaper because she may lay infertile eggs and you will want to put a lay box in there with her. If you use loose substrate then she will bury the infertile eggs in there and you won't ever find them. If its a male you can keep him on Eco Earth, papertowels, newspaper, woodchips (I use Jungle Earth), pretty much whatever. I suggest plain paper towels though, its cheap and easy.
anything but sand right? even if its full grown? this ones full size/grown whatever lol....about the tail, it didnt lose it i was just thinking wrong lol so, forget the part where the workers told me it lost it, because i walked in the pet store and its tail was nice and long!
Lol, it doesn't surprise me. A lot of pet store workers don't seem to have a clue about what they are saying >.> But yea, pretty much anything but sand is fine. Let me know what you choose, and enjoy your crestie =)
ok ill tell you what substrate i get and then you can tell me if its a good choice! i hope Eco earth is good...
anyways, once again thanks for the information! and im sooooo happy about the light cuz i asked my mom if it was 80 degrees in the house and she said yes!!! WOOOOO i hope it stays that way! lol
i can see how that happened the crested gecko on the left pounced at a cricket but the cricket moved and the crestie bit the others tail thinking it was a cricket
Just an updatefor everyone. both of these geckos are now healthy breeding adults. Also please read the video description to the right before leaving pointless comments.
Im going to write my response in big letters for all the retards who have trouble reading the other comments. IT WAS AN ACCIDENT!!! JUST LIKE WHEN YOU TRIPPED THE OTHER DAY AND HIT THAT ONE GUY IN THE FACE. IM SURE HE DIDNT LIKE IT BUT IT WAS AN ACCIDENT, RIGHT? GET THE FUCK OVER IT. THE GECKO IS FINE. BIG DEAL. SHIT LIKE THAT HAPPENS IN THE WILD ALL THE TIME. GET OVER IT YOU LITTLE HIPPIE ACTIVIST PUSSIES!!!!
in the wild it has been known for cested gecko males to fight over food and thay dont fight like that thay bite each others eyes and it was an acciadent nd i agree with you but i would feed them seprate though to stop basicly this form happening
i don't care if you've had one your entire life you should know better than that! or have been getting them away from each other instead of VIDEO TAPING THEM! Gosh! and btw if or crestie is eating baby food right now and your trying to get it to eat "CGD" ween it off of the BF less and less BF more and more "CGD"
thats the feeding container. Your either retarded or dont own reptiles. When you see an empty container with crickets in it and a gecko, it means its a feeding box. Just like snakes. If you see a snake in a cardboard box with a mouse, its a feeding container. Gosh! people are really stupid!
There's nothing cool about that video. Why would you put them both in the same enclosure to feed? It's pretty obvious why one of them doesn't have a tail. If you're not responsible enough to take care of them properly, you shouldn't have them in the first place.
these cresties are still young so the risk of impaction is grate so like most crestie keeps he is using a kritter can for feeding his sub adults... so know what your talking about be for you say some thing
That IS why the one doing the biting has no tail you dumb ass!! And what are you doing with 2 in such a small habitat, AND on SAND!!!?!?!? PLEASE give these to someone that has a brain and can care for these little guys.
Guys, he made a dumb mistake, the point of the video is he realized what he did was dumb and he's posting it to show WHY you shouldn't feed them together. Hopefully this will prevent others from making the same mistake.
even if you are trying to show people issues with feeding together its still bad doing it when you know whats gonna happen, your an idiot, feed them separately
I did not intentionally have gecko one bite the tail of gecko two. I put them in this smaller cage onceto tape them eating. I shared the vidoe so that other would be aware of some of the issues (ie this) when feeding crickets when multiple geckos are housed together.
Everyones so willing to assume this was done for entertainment, even though its obvious that it was a mistake. He didn't use gecko mind control to get it to bite at the moment he was filming them. It was a random occurence. Also, feeding them together was an honest mistake any owner could make early on. So grow up morons/self righteous and judgemental gecko keepers.

Nope. There is a little nub left of it though, maybe you are mistaking that little nub for it regrowing?
LoonyBird27 2 years ago 2
hmmmm or maybe it just didnt lose its tail, because it is pretty long......
thanks for the fact though!
because im gonna get that exact crestie!
:333
and im still doing as much research as i can!
i still need: substrate, and heat/lighting....... any tips? im SOOOOO DESPERATE FOR THAT CUTE LITTLE THING!
PoMakaiOkalani910 2 years ago
Congrats!
You may not even need heat/lighting if your house is 70-80 degrees.
I highly recommend feeding Crested Gecko Diet instead of fruits and crickets, it's much easier.
Good luck, you won't be able to stop at one ;-)
LoonyBird27 2 years ago
oh thanks sooo much for the information!
i was actually already going to feed it CGD
because i knew it was easier!
i really love that crestie! and thanks for the complement!
by the way, do you have any idea what i should use for the substrate? ( flooring of cage)
