Holy crap that was awesome! What brought me here was a 1970 Pete 359 for sale that had a Detroit Diesel 6V93 engine in it,and I was looking for a video to see how it sounded,and it sounds awesome!

Absolutely pretty sound, but i give a hint: As far as I know, DD has exhaust valves utilized with camshaft as 4 strokes. I think I hear these valves floating on high rpm, just when engine is coming to rpm of best torque. I suggest stiffer valve springs and more boost (not enough air to burn clean. Loss of power and black smoke). That really would cheer up that engine, which already seems to like going :)

@NesteHukka2 ...and if head has been machined, valve spring setup lenght may have lenghtened causing not enough spring pressure. Hard metal washers can be put under valve springs, if on full lift there is enough clearance between spring coils. 1mm is usually enough.

@xGrymx its probaly only spooled up to about maybe 2000 to 2800 max and my guess is hes going about 55 to 60 mph, as for the payload i am not to familer with corn but in refrance to the same style of truck with wheat an averge load would be about 20000LBS of grain

well wen you think about it 500 bushel tandom aint really that much, the volvo we use has a cummings and its hauling close to 800 bushels and its a tandom(real wide box) and the stearling is hauling about 650-700 and the in international( tri-axel) is hauling nearly 1000, and it has a 6v-71 in it, so i think u deffinatly could be hauling more with that( the stearling has a rlly big cat in it) ( sterling and volvo are rlly powerful they will do 100mph loaded not even kidding)

Detroit burns diesel bit differently because it´s 2-stroke.

And if you want more power out of it you have to add more diesel and even clean burning makes black smoke under heavy engine load.

There is no more hazardous particles in black smoke than in same amount of diesel burnt without smoke.

Some new trucks have "afterburner" to clean that black smoke away, You can see it working on cold weather uphilling at some point truck will start to push a lot more hot air from exhaust.
