He is one of the more "premier" tenors nowadays...and if that is so, then I have so much hope for the future lol...he had one impressive high note, but the rest of the time he raped that aria

I would agree his first note wasn't his best & his French is definitely suspect... his has a nice timbre and presence, but his voice is dry & not expansive. His interpretation of this aria lacked the subtleties that Massenet inherently wrote for the singer. I will listen to more of Mr. Guagliardo (Giordano since he probably changed his name thinking no one could pronounce his real one- or in hommage to the composer) and hope to hear a better performance in another role.

I just saw him teaching in a small setting of very few people and he is a tenor who knows the voice like some greats and he uses the same lingo... ancor, sweep, don't spread too much, vertical (that's not in the repetoire of Caruso or Gigli or Martinelli but whow k) and he is very atuned to each interpretation and the breath in the stomach like the staves of a barrel. Very Italian. Oh, scusa, Sicilian. )))

He was off on his first note but not as bad as the lead violinist's very sour note(s) between 0:35 - 0:38 just before he sings - almost gave me a migraine ! That off-key episode nay have thrown him off, in fact.
