....actually, quite informative and entertaining video. Just in case you play trumpet or another brass instrument, I think you might find some trumpet and brass tutorials quite intriguing over at YOURBRASSINSTRUCTOR's Channel.
This song truly is the embodiment of swing (my band teacher uses this video as an example every single year without fail), and to think it came from a guitarist. I love that melody!
@Jesseqisbetterthanyo Freddie Greene, was one of the GREATEST rythmn guitarists of all time. In addition, one of the sweetest, warmest, compassionate persons that I have ever met. The same applies to "Count:!!!!!!!!
@jakeready64 Jake, this is late coming to you...Yes that is Sal Nistico playing Tenor Sax . Chuck from Cleveland, Ohio 4-9-2011 He was one of my favorites. A monster player!
Sonny's ride cymbal seems to be at a kind of unusual height, higher than it needs to be. Same basic setup as Buddy Rich but his was always quite abit lower so he didn't have to reach. Of course Sonny was a great, great drummer and everyone has thier own style and likes.
U r right. for jazz musicians, hard to stay together for a long time. Someone does: Oregon Band members Paul MCCandless, Ralph Towner, Glen Moore celebrate 40 years together in 2010! Paolo Fresu Quintet started 25 years ago at still is formed by the same musicians (Tino Tracanna, sax, etc). Longevity is very important it a jazz band to grow together. But you know, evryone wants to be a leader, especially in Italy: Oscar Wilde (I guess) said: "One italian is a good guy! Two italians are a riot!"
Sunny The King of "Payne & Swing , Groove ,Time , Picket Wilson's Pocket and Funk : forget 'bout the videos Today, he nailed Them.. Thats, if you Have Ears////
The hardest swinging big band of all-time. I love Benny Goodman, Jimmie Lunceford, and Duke Ellington, but nobody swung harder than Count Basie, Although Duke's band was definitely the most versatile.
I just picked up a big band gig and this is one of the tunes the leader called out. It will be my tribute to him minus the stick flip which was just awesome !!

このころのベイシーオーケストラが一番いいよ。エディ・ロックジョーと比較できないが、エリック・ディクソンも素晴らしい。ソニー・ペインは歴代のドラマーの中で一番バンドにマッチしている。

Freddie Green is the greatest guitarist never to take a single note run solo.......what a master at chording the pocket he was...........
Ask Larry Carlton and Robben Ford about his contribution to playing.......

This is an excelent example of Basie classic. Freddie Green's guitar line is quite audible so one can easily study his unique playing.
