What does racing have to do with any brand?

I know that some (eventually all) tech trickles down to us mortals, but that doesn't mean that the winning brand trickles fastest.

Just because brandX is good at gutting a chassis and organizing a pit doesn't mean they are good at striking the balance and fitting that tech at a reliability/price point.

I can't draw any correlation, they are two distinct disciplines.

Dakar Mini is just a prime example.

Didn't heavy contact with a Lamborghini early in the race damage the GT-R, which after repairs still suffered issues related to the contact? I don't see how they suffered any beat down by Mercedes. Seems like they were in the wrong place at the wrong time with no where to go. Can you elaborate on your view? Did I miss some coverage on the car?

Wasn't glued to the livecast + when needed info 4 the show couldn't find the complete race report + results [of course NOW I did!] ..ugh. Sorry. Thanks for setting the viewers onto the facts. That said, MY question is - Looking @ qual times, did the SLS sandbag vs GT-R and continue to do so in the race....eg; just pacing? Do love the GT-R racecars, tho.

@LeoParente Am I correct that if you qualified in this class quicker than 02:05 , you had to take on extra weight, ect? The times I saw for all the SLS was just slightly slower than that mark, so you may be right on the sand bagging. I guess we will have to see if the GT-R can continue to be in the top 3 qualifying times and replicate their first official outing.

If the McLaren F1 is the next step up from the Ford GT-40, a supercar benchmark, then what supercar or cars today represent the next or current benchmark? It has to be a total package, not a street car amped to the max (GT-R35, Lancer EVO, Mustang GT500, etc), but purpose made to elevate the art in EVERY way. My easy answer is the Bugatti Veyron, but is there another and why? Also what would constituent the NEXT benchmark supercar?

Suggestion: in my opinion the videos in the studio are a bit drab. Hosts are fine but instead of sitting in a dead studio, get out in the world. Film in the streets of NY or at a race of some sorts. I say this because when you guys were at the Detroit show you did all these shows on the show floor. It added a lot and made the episodes more interesting. Also looks better then sitting in front of a TV showing pictures.

You guys should give Alex Roy a co host or multiple co hosts, (yes like top gear) the reason is because when its just him on the trip it seems like just a news report, but if he had some cohosts the classic road trip elements get thrown in showing how its the journey, not the destination. top gear nails this on the head everytime and its about time some americans did it right. consider this a friendly critique, as i love the format of drive.
