The truth is that they had their own house, free medical care in North Korea, but they came down with nothing, and SK cant feed them all.

South Korean government and people give defectors ample help so that they can be function in the south; such as room and board, give them education, job training, and much more till they succeed in the south; importantly S.K. give them freedom to follow their dreams.The life of Suth Korea must not compare with North;it is 100 times better than the life of north because you would have freedom and opportunities and respect individual will.

This is really sad that a girl is reduced to having to box to support her family. Why will SK not take care of its refugees by providing them with jobs? It`s a shame on SK! I know someone who lived in SK and she said the SK ppl are prejudiced against the NK. After seeing this video I think she`s right. SK needs to get a heart and grow up! This just isn`t right. As for Americans in South America, there is no need to defect, we can leave the country whenever we want. I've been to Mexico twice. It was easy, I walked across the border. It's called traveling/moving/migrating, not defecting.

@jwh30385 Well in the case of trying to defect from NK, concider yourself dead before you even think of crossing that border. The restrictions and penalties that apply are severe, which affects your whole family and sometimes even results in executions. It is just about impossible without substancial bribes for guards to even just look the other way. Not quite as easy as calling it "migrating".

This story is very near and dear to me. My father and his family as well as my korean part ancestors were from a region in North Korea. My father and his family were able to make it to the south okay, but had to restart everything. My father soon came to the USA and sent for his family. He often spoke of those times.
