Opinions shouldn't be used when defining genres, but rather evidence based upon common elements. Bands like Metallica and Judas Priest have a lot of common elements which make them metal bands. Hell, I can even find clear common elements between Priest and Morbid Angel. But when you compare a band like AC/DC to a band like Judas Priest, you can't find a lot of common elements between them. Maybe in a few songs, but those are more Priest flirting with rock'n'roll to be more accesible.

The promoted videos can get annoying sometimes. When AC/DC's Let There Be Rock reissue came out, there was so much promotion for it. I saw it as the promoted video for just about every metal video on YouTube. AC/DC's not metal, and shouldn't be lumped into a scene that they don't even want to be in. Not to mention, not every metalhead likes AC/DC. I fucking despise them. Their music should've gone away forever when Bon Scott kicked the bucket, nor should they have even gotten a record contract.

I just promoted a video, and its not youtube promoting the videos; youtube users pay a certain amount to have their video promoted, and how much you're willing to pay affects how much you're promoted. I won't go into all the details(unless you want me to), but basically it's the users who think their videos are good enough to pay youtube (and google) to show it to the viewers. maybe what you meant was "featured" videos because i have no idea how those work
