OH THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR RESPONSES!!! it is much appreciated! i scored a ticket for their chicago show! i'm still debating whether i'll leave as YMMR starts or stay. i really cherish my hearing and well i don't want to take any chances. i might be overcautious but i won't fully know until i experience it myself but all of your responses are exactly what i needed. :)
thanks for posting this! i love this song. i really want to see them but i'm actually a bit scared of the "holocaust" part. is that the loudest part of the concert or would you consider the whole thing really loud. if that's their last song i'll just leave during it if i can even get a ticket. thanks for any response. :)
The whole gig is very loud, but not to insane levels, and they're giving out free earplugs (which help you to hear the music better actually). The holocaust section is the rough part, yes. That's during the final song though, so if you leave when You Made Me Realise begins you'd miss that part. They played Lose My Breath quite early on when I saw them. I very much recommend seeing them though! ;)
the holocasut section isnt terribly dangerous i didnt use earphones or put hands over my ears or anything for the entire 23 mintues of "holocaust" for about 20 mins after gig everything was very muffled and for few days hearing was a bit wierd but four days later its returned to normal
No it wasn't the worst ever or anything. When I saw Dinosaur Jr. I couldn't hear anything but hissing for about four days after. I was starting to fear my hearing would never come back.

Well done on getting a ticket! I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time, whether you stay for YMMR or not. :-)
