There are several flaws to your theory:
Alot of germany(and Europe) is protestant or reformed, which was a large reason why the HRE is no longer. Nobody outside the catholic church would support the papacy.
There is no longer a monarchy in germany.
France and the UK, were never friends of the HRE.
The US is getting weaker for many reasons!
China holds more power over the US than the EU.
Personally, I would love for canada to join the EU and that it would become more than just Europe.

I used to think we (the u.s.) had to reach out and help people such as the Iranian's. As I do feel for them and hope for the best, I say we stay away. Anytime we try to help, we just get more hatred and anger directed at the U.S. See several posts on Youtube for confirmation. Let all fight their own battles and protect our own shores with passion.
