The people who get killed there are drug gang people. If you are not buying, selling or doing drugs there, you will not be in danger. The same danger can happen to drug people in Miami, NYC, LA and even DesMoines, Iowa. Get a clue!
I have been there 18 times stupid, so don't give me lectures. Anyway all of Mexico is now a sewer, not just Acapulco. The latest was a Canadian woman who was beaten almost to death in her own hotel. A luxury hotel too. Something like a dozen tourists attacked or killed in touristic zones. And yes, Acapulco was 100 times better in the 70s and 80s when Canadians and Americans actually visited. Now it's mostly locals from Mexico City. Get a clue!

@oswaldo5243 Yes it is a shame, but the main reason Elvis didn't do this movie on location was not because he didn't want to, but because of his manager Tom Parker. The guy was an illegal immigrant and couldn't leave the country or else he might not have been let back in, so because of this he forced Elvis to stay here as well. So basically the only time Elvis ever left America was when he was stationed in Germany while in the army, and one special performance in Canada.
