  • Background check? How about a psych evaluation?

  • I've worked a lot of different jobs in my life, from grave digger to professor, but I have to say that being a security guard was one of the best. I worked as a graveyard shift guard for a year during college, and even though I knew it wasn't going to be a career for me, I had a great time.

  • @MathewVasconcellos your stupid. anyone can work at a fast food restaurant. Security guards end up making more money than people who work in food service. So your the Loser

  • @MathewVasconcellos What about the millions of Americans in the Military? Or Police?

  • @MathewVasconcellos Sure...

  • @MathewVasconcellos Says the guy who can't spell *Restaurant*,

  • This guy is super cereal and too fat to be a policeman, so he is security guard.

  • @lepilo1337 he is paul blarts long lost brother from another mother

  • I've done security work after I lost my job as a store manager. It's definantly not a career stop. It's just means to an end when you need some quick easy cash b/c they pay you for doing bullish work. It's a good job to have if you are in school or planning on starting a business so you can have extra $ for emergencies. Anyone who wants this job for life is lacking alot of motivation. I have seen a few of them too.

  • There is no such thing as a career in Security. In Canada, the security industry is a joke. Guards are not allowed to carry weapons of any kind, they are not allowed to use force when necessary, and they are nothing more than rent-a-cops.

  • As a S/O I make average income however taxes are real high for this occupation, but for getting paid to do NOTHING its ok.. I sit at a lobby desk, surf the internet, pick my nose, and walk around a building with a radio and yes Im GED qualified!

  • Hello, this is a good concept, however it is definitely not optimal. A Few Things I discovered even better was at roulettecash=org.

  • I worked security jobs before I went to college and while I was attending. I have to say that every security company was the same, shitty places to work. Each and everyone had idiots in management and supervisor roles, and even bigger dumb asses as actual security officers. If I had to give anyone advise, it would be to go to work at Taco Bell before even considering security.

  • @ThamelasStormrage

As a former S/O, I'd have to agree. Private security should never be thought of as a career, it's merely a temporary job at best.

  • I get disrespected so much being a security guard wish it payed more for the level of emotional stress I have to deal with.

  • @fackyoutoobe2 amen to that, check out the upccoming documentary on security which talks about those issues in security

  • bouncers > security guards

  • i quit my security job due to boredom :D

  • i've been working as a security for only 2weeks. And i know, my probation is not even close of being over. So, i was just wondering. I left home an hour ealry because i was sick. Like very sick. I couldn't reach my superviser or dispacth because my phone died. So, i left home an hour early. Well i get fired? Or it well be just a warning. This is my first job ever in my life by the way. Thanks

  • Bottom line, if you decide to work security, continue to work on a higher education degree, or use the security guard gig as secondary income. It is a perfect job for students in college, you can study at work while monitoring camera feed, it is also a great evening job for secondary income if you need it. I make 85k a year and i full time as a security guard(40hrs a week), on top of my day job which pays 64k a year. It works for me, I save it all, and i have nothing yet to show for it.

  • No, I don't work for a security company, I was just letting you know that it is possible to make decent money as a security guard.

  • You guys are kidding me about the salary right? These guys make chump change. Try near minimum wage. If your armed you might make more, say around $20 an hour, still not worth it.

  • @Sodiumreactor I'm a private security guard (unarmed) for a trucking terminal and I make 42K per year. I've been doing it for over 2 years now and have never had a confrontation yet.

  • @robinrayholmes you work for the owner of the terminal or the trucking company though right? Your not working for a security company.

  • @robinrayholmes Security guards can easily make 42k a year. If they work 100 hours a week. Around 1998, I worked security for a couple of years for easy money during college. The first company I worked for advertised in the newspaper for unarmed guards, $800 per week. What they didn't mention in the ad was that you had to work 100 hours per week to get that. And they were serious. This company would let you work 24/7 if you wanted to, although they did expect you to be awake the whole time.

  • @rook901 I work 56 hours per week.

  • @rook901 100hrs a week for 42k.i work public safety on a school campus 40 hr a week. i made 45k last year..it all depends who you work for. its definatley just a job , but a great way to meet people and network...better than working for food chains or roofing company in my opinion

  • @europeanwonder2 Your math is off somewhere. In order to make 45k a year at 40 hours, you'd have to be paid about 22.50/hr. Not gonna happen. Even middle management in corporate security doesn't make that much, so I know an 18 year old with no experience isn't making that. That's a higher salary than many real professionals with degrees. Sorry, but your claim is absolutely laughable and without merit.

  • @europeanwonder2 I'm not going to waste my time with this back and forth about what security guards make. It's very well-documented. All one has to do is jump on any popular job search website and find out for themselves. Even at management level, security guards do not make a lot of money. The only folks in security making any money are the owners of contract companies. I've been on the job a lot longer than you have. I know what I'm talking about. You're not going to be able to BS me on this.

  • i would give my left nut to do security down in Oregon I am in Vancouver CA i would love to work down there I did Winter Olmypics and other fun stuff

  • im a security guard for UK BPS.

i work in a empty retirement home doing nightshifts, since it is only me in there i just watch dvds and play games on my laptop and do a patrol every hour or so.

  • what was your salary? i wanna be a Security Officer myself

  • @guppyplec what was your salary?

  • Working as a Security Officer is one of the worst jobs any one can have. Employers frequently discriminate and treat employees with no respect. Even if you treat them with respect and do your job.

  • @mz2ykt Its ok if you a dodgey. and stand up for yourself. And dont be afarid to walk off the job if they give you crap.

  • @mz2ykt It really depends on what kind of Security you work. There are two types of Security you can work. There is Contract Security which this guy in the video works and then In-House Security. You find In-House Security working primarily in hospitals where the pay is well above what a Contract Officer makes. The benefits are good and you can make a living without working two or three jobs.

  • The man says he's Wayne Richey, not Bill. Just pointing that out.

  • BOOOO SEXPERVILLAGE! YO FKIN SUCK!

  • @4CzNs William Richey. Bill is short for William.

  • or if you work for Allied Barton you can just fall asleep in your security cart after smoking weed in the empty part of garage and hit your electronic wand on one sensor at the end of shift to make it look like you worked.
