His link was so weak that she easily jumped into his body, or empty vessel. The psychic got scared when she took the photos from Josh, realizing the woman was still there, or possibly in his place. To confirm it, she took Josh's picture, only to reveal the old woman had completely consumed Josh's body.
@TheChillSp0t (Cont.) Since Josh's spirit was trapped in the astral plane, the old woman now was in full control of Josh's body. It was the malevolent woman who strangled Elise to death. Her only intent was to inflict pain on others. Josh? He's gone. The wife who was last seen before the credits rolled? The old woman finished her off too. As for the grandmother, the boy, and the two crew guys? We may never know.
@Adpotter81 If there's one thing I learned from thriller sequels (because this is hardly a horror) is that the previous movie usually has nothing to do with the latter. So I picture a whole new cast, characters, setting, and plot.

My sister figured it out. She said the woman noticed it wasn't him cause of his hand (You see it in the flashback when he was handing the picture over), it was old like the ghost lady. When he put his hand on his wife in the end it was normal. The ghost was mad cause the picture and the ghost had to leave. When it left, Josh ACTUALLY woke up which was why he was like "I'm right here." ...that's how she figured. Makes a bit of sense =)

Just seen the film, I am the only one who thought that Josh himself was the old hag from the beginning who stole Josh's soul as a kid but had his memory suppressed until he was awakened (which is why his mother said that he hated having his picture taken when he was younger)?

i found this movie kind of pathetic. maybe because everyone was raving about how scary it was. and everyone talking about the scariest parts in it ( the demon sharpening its claws, and the "demon" dancing ) so then i watch it and seriously that lil child is considered a fucking demon??? cmon. how is that scary? a child ? and then there were some creepy moments but that was all gone, at the scene with red face sharpening its claws. i lost ALL respect for that nigga at that moment lol

The medium sort of already knew he was possessed when she took the picture. She wouldn't have felt compelled to take the picture if she didn't already know.
So WHY did she take it anyway and piss off this spirit that was obviously probably going to kill her? At least, why do it when no one else was immediately nearby?

@MW3JeRiCHo Eleis (the woman) is what we would call a medium. She is able to see thing around her that no one else can. For exampl; she could see a ghost in the hallway with her eyes, nothing else. That is why before shooting the photo she was so scared cause she could see that Josh (the man) was `different`. The demon had poessessed him.

Just seen the film, I am the only one who thought that Josh himself was the old hag from the beginning who stole Josh's soul as a kid but had his memory suppressed until he was awakened (which is why his mother said that he hated having his picture taken when he was younger)?
I mean near the end, he saw the hag in the mirrior, while the soul of Josh as a kid pointed the direction of Dalton meaning that kid Josh's soul was already in the further.
