Strange to think that she could have made a fortune as a model instead, although obviously she was a smart girl so probably wanted to do something that required use of the mind too. Sad story though.
Events like these remind of how important it is to have a friend or someone you can share your innerself with to avoid emotional decisions like a suicide. What a sad loss for a bright young worker !
I can't believe all you heartless bastards saying she is gutless, blaming the parents, saying if she not happy to leave the job. It's not that simple, people need money to live, we don't know what financial situation she was in, she might have needed the job to pay her bills and leaving the job would make things worse, employers rely on workers being in financial hardship or the fear of loosing their job to push for more productivity, how can some of you say she deserved it, stress and depressi
I used to work for Telstra at a company called Vertex, (previously called PCI as most people would know it) in Melbourne. They were extremely pushy and expected us to sell to people who didnt need it, Not being that kind of person, id only offer a product if i knew it would benefit a customer....My last manager before i quit came up to me after i finished a call, yelled at me and harassed me to call a customer back to offer foxtel, i said i didnt want to, two days later i was fired. telstra SUK
@lirim1989 Liar. What someone told you to call the customer back to offer Foxtel is a lie. As much as I don't like telstra's customer service, this is pathetic. You have a choice, leave the job if the company is not for you
Why is this country and it's people so hell bent on blaming someone else for their problems.if you have someone pressuring you, then leave, and if you think you cant cope then your parents have a responsibility as to what kind of education you received in order to think that.
The title of this clip is a joke "Gorgeous" who gives a shit if she was or wasn't, it's irrelevant, and uses the same tactics to get views as testra does to sell.
Testra maybe assholes, blaming them because your weak, is bs
I used to work for Telstra and yeah, they treat you like crap. They're dishonest, they're greedy and they'll screw anyone for a dollar. You're not a person when you work at Telstra, you're property and you're treated like it.
These places are twenty-first century sweatshops.
You're late signing on by 10 seconds and you get beeped by a supervisor. 30 seconds late from lunch etc.
I worked at one where calls were automatically put through to you, and by the time you'd be writing up the log of the first call, you'd have someone new yapping in your ear, and it all built up from there. You never had a moments rest.
I now do support for a high school and the difference is vast - even the atmosphere is nicer. says a lot.
Kazamma- you are wrong. I worked for a year in call centres, by the end i was seriously depressed from the repetitive, insular, isolating experience of mindlessly repeating the same words over and over with ZERO time to interact with colleagues- worsened by total isolation in a cubicle that cut out light and a view of those around me. Worse of all... EVERY minute of the day was computer graphed and checked by supervisors- you could be disciplined for slowing work speed for a single minute. Hell.
i know exactly what you mean. I work in a call centre but for debt recoveries. The targets are just crazy, if you spend more than 2 minutes on your after call work, you making sure receiving an unpleasant emails or a performance meeting. I know people who turn into alcoholics. The hardest part is the hours 1pm until 9pm plus saturday overtime which is mandatory twice a month
@stuporstar i have an ex that works in one i feel for her she is so miserable thats why i never give workers crap if they cant do anything for me i give the super a ration of shit
Log on time log off time... that sounds like a regular job, i mean yeh call centres are stressful but these parents have no idea what they're talking about.
I worked in sales for a warranty company, and I can definitely relate, I had to quit because of the stress. My hands were getting psoraisis again, and I was losing interest in my music and everything else around me. The pressure and the feel of eyes gazing into the back of your neck is just terrible.
I feel so sorry for the family and to see such a beautiful girl do such a thing.
I worked for Telstra in a call centre also and I totally know what this girl went through. Telstra expect you to juggle 10 balls at once while you have a broom stuck up your arse sweeping the floor while you go along and dont forget "customer service" pft they dont care about anything except the almighty dollar and they do anything to shut you up if you speak out. I also suffered from an enourmous amount of stress and left becasue they have their favourites and the rest are set up to fail.
Call centers are horrible places to be. Many will time your potty breaks and *will* question you when you deviate a few minutes. I mean you can't automatically decide when you take a shit. It just happens. But it has to happen on the call center schedule. They make you play stoowpit office games and nobody really wants to be there. They control your thinking, they way you talk, the way you sit (ready at the keyboard). You are under 100% supervision in a call center. "They" do *NOT* care!
i understand what this girl is coming from.. i know the feeling wherein the company you are working for doesnt have care about the feeling of their employees, what the company is after is just the profit they can get from you. that's why I resigned from this company as well.. that's true, even pee breaks are closely monitored for every agents on this company
Honestly! I dont feel bad for the girl...only feel awfully bad for the parents who have to bear the pain and live with it for the rest of their lives!! Only a coward and a selfish person would ever think about commiting suicide!! Fight! This is what life is all about...i mean work pressure and you commit suicide?? Wow....leave your job take a holiday or get a new job for god´s sake!! That coward girl left in a fit and left berieved parents and relatives behind!! Shame on her!!
I have worked in the same department that girl worked in (though not at the same time). I am not suprised at all that she killed herself. It is so awful to work there, and yes, they TIME EVERYTHING. I used to come home and cry every night after work. I'm glad I don't work there anymore.
telstra are money hungry cunts but she was silly for doing that over them or anything for that matter. i feel sorry for the family but suicide is gutless and selfish, look at what she has done to her parents, they should blame her not telstra. there is always help available for people contemplating suicide, beyondblue
there is nothing wrong with call centres if you have the right people around you and the right vibe. i work at one of telstra's affiliates, and at least 75% of the call centre were uni students, who would just go to work to make some money, and blow it on whatever, booze etc. it's simple stuff. muck around, make a few calls and hit the KPIs.
I worked in a call center for 9 years--it was hell on earth--lucky I got out and no longer work on the phone...poor girl--I feel her pain, and I hope the parents win their case
u work in a telstra call center and its not that bad
sales is a fucked up area to work in but an other departments are fine these parents should harden the fuck up and stop blaming telstra for them not seeing the signs of there daughter being stressed out
These stories are all fucking fake, they just couldn't find a proper story to cover.
She fucking quit, you can't blame Telstra for doing their fucking job. If the bitch is dumb enough to suicide over this shit, then she wasn't worth having alive in the first place.
callcenters the way they are at the minute should be banned.
its all about squeezing money out of every thing and every one.
some of them look like those big warehouses that they farm chickens in.
No natural light, hooked to the same position, high concentration of people!!
its no way to live, you have to maintain a high level of professionalism in the way you look and dress and work medium-long shifts and to pushy targets and monitoring. all for about £7ph. Man!
call center agents are micro managed beyond belief. it's pretty much hell. on the companies side tho, i have to say i'm sure she got her cut of the share tho. if anyhting is ever that bad walk away! jesus
She didn't commit suicide because of her job. She quit the job. Wtf, are these people serious? OBVIOUSLY SOMETHING ELSE WAS GOING ON. People don't kill themselves because of job stress at JOBS THEY'RE NOT WORKING AT.
some people kill them selves for no reason...if a person is stressed from their job to the point tey want to kill them selves quit duhh....they dont need help what they need is a smack
if it is so stressful there, why haven't all the others killed themselves? sorry, but she must have been a bit psycho, despite that fact that she is smoking hot. maybe she was doing drugs?
It's all bullshit about maximizing profit at the expense of the health and well-being of their employees. They don't care if you're sick, if you're tired, or if you're stressed. You're there to make them as much money as you can while giving you the least amount of money they can get away with to keep you making them money. Business doesn't care about their employees, they never have, and they never will.
Strange to think that she could have made a fortune as a model instead, although obviously she was a smart girl so probably wanted to do something that required use of the mind too. Sad story though.
