Most West indians ( caribbean) are very strong swimmers and can swim very well even before joining swimming acadamies. Actually it's ironic because generally west indians believe that most Whites can't swim-since many tourists have drowned in some of their most notorious rivers and beaches, culturally swimming to them isn't so much a sport but more a leisure activity

I am a black man and that's the term I prefer. Africa is a continent made up of many nations. A Nigerian would not identify himself as African. A German would not identify himself first as a European. Also, Canadians don't call themselves Americans even though they are North Americans. So, I'm cool with Black. Besides, I have no attachment to Africa. Real or manufactured. I am 100% Americian.

I myself was born English, but possess Nigerian parentage, I still indentify myself as an African despite like most 'Black Americans' having left Africa, although in a different way I have come to inhabit another land, does that make me 100% British, going back 10 generations in my family would be in West Africa, going back 10 generations with you the same's the case, how does that make you less African that me? because my family tree was there for longer? or because you can't indentify with it?

weight lifting will help a lot especially through your legs (obviously) and also very much so in you core (abs, obliques, lower back)

Weightlifting for leg speed has quickly diminishing returns.
You'll do better with overspeed training and intermittent explosive weightlifting.
