Man, I used to play this when I was 5, when I see this video I feel sentimental, because I associate my gamer infancy with the happy raising that my parents gave me (and the fact that my father is the main responsable for my gamer hobbie).
@qaleta the original isn't available unless you wanna get a emulator rom of it. if you don't then you could always go to download Jumpman under construction which is basically the same thing but you can get all the levels of Jumpman and Jumpman Jr. also you could create your own levels. If you wanna check it out go to their site members.iinet.net.au/~cleathley/jumpman/
And you know what? It would be still as difficult to play as it was then! I love Jumpman! And of course LodeRunner, Pitfall, Caverns of Kafka, Bristles etc etc so many games
This was such a great game. I remember playing this a lot, although who ever played this game was like awesome. I always died a couple times before passing a level cause I never knew where things were moving....
Nice. I think you're the first person I've seen who's posted a nostalgic video who was actually really good at the game they posted. Nice! I remember this game well. I haven't seen those boards in literally 25 years, but they're ingrained in to my brain. I still remember them.
I'm reeling from nostalgia. I used to play jumpman incessantly on the comodore 64 when I was a kid. Brings back such good memories. I loved this game so much that I went through the jumpman code line by line and I created a program that allowed you to design your own screens. Thanks a lot for posting!
Great job. I recently started playing Jumpman Jr a bit on my Colecovision and am really considering getting myself an 8-bit computer to play some of these old games. Damn fun stuff.
Jumpman was one of my favourite games, and Jumpman Jr. was good too. What I liked best was the playability, if you're only able to watch the video you won't understand the feel of how the jumpman responded so intuitively to the joystick. It was a great example of game interface.
I really enjoyed this game back in the day. I even picked up the ripoff Junkman Junior version for the Texas Instruments since I didn't have a real computer to play it on :P
in level 4 youre jumping 2 times through a bullet (about at 1:35 and 1:44)i remember how often i died in this easy level when i was 10 years old (i was very impatient ;)
@THEBIGZED even as MercenaryCobra1 points out your lack of comprehension of the list, I'll second - for those who just read about it on some list and weren't actually "there" - this game may look cheesy now, but was every bit as good as anything else at the time. Never had a problem with the name, either. Sounds like a stupid list, in any event.
I had a copy of this on cassette tape for Commodore 64. Wonderful. I remember the hack for infinite lives. At something like 8 minutes 47 seconds into loading the game you had to break the load process and input a string of Machine Languange through the Basic Poke command then continue the load for another seven and half minutes. if you had timed everything perfectly and entered the page of ML flawlessly, you had a game you could play until the computer locked up.
Ok, I take this back. According to Wikipedia, this game was inspired *by* Donkey Kong. I could have sworn somewhere that it was the other way around, but I guess I was wrong.
I knew you could beat this game! I saw someone beat it once when I was a kid and was like "Whoooa"
Seriously this game gave me nightmares when I was about 3 years old, I dunno why... something about those crazy bullets flying after you and the way you bounced around like a ragdoll when you fell and died-- freaked me out o.o
good job, but can you do that on the 1 speed. Back in the eighties i used to play the randomizer level exclusively on the 1 speed....with mixed resultes...lol, but i played it on an atari 800 computer.
i had this game on IBM PCjr way wayyyyyyyyyyyyy back in the day

from the days when an individual programmer could make a game that sells millions of copies

I remember it was bundled with C64's in stores for a while

Yeah the game rocks. I don't choose what I like based on lists.
It needs to grandfathered in just because it was one of the first game could play from the comfort of your own home. It's OG for sure.
